I’m debating moving it to a drawer instead. It’s all jumbled up with baking things that I don’t use often but just often enough that I can’t put them in the loft.
I’m going to have a toddler helping too.
There’s a wonderful Pinterest pegboard video, but I don’t know if I can be bothered, might rig something similar with plate racks.

Oh and in ‘Tupperware’ I include all the empty takeaway containers, lunch boxes, big plastic boxes you use once in a blue moon, ice cream tubs etc. I’m not sure if I own any genuine Tupperware.

Argh I started wrestling w mine yesterday. Do they mate in there??

Yesterday I found a new home for a breast pump and eleventy billion of those annoying little bottles

MadauntofA · 03/11/2020 07:20

Moving the Tupperware to a drawer was a life changer my life is quite boring. I put all the lids in a large square box, and stack the bases in various piles. Only have to rearrange once in a while

fairydustandpixies · 03/11/2020 07:21

Haha, I have one of those cupboards! I forget every time I open it and hundreds of plastic containers launch themselves at my head! I get so angry with it that I throw everything back in, quickly shut the door before it all falls out again and so the cycle goes on...😂

Coldhandscoldheart · 03/11/2020 07:24

Yes, I have to slam the door quickly enough that nothing escapes. The problem will be what to do with the stuff that comes out if the drawer & what to use the cupboard for. Sigh.

This is on my to do list so I'm joining you! I hate the Tupperware cupboard...especially as I organise it then DH just shoves boxes and lids in until it's a big mess again and boom, back to square one. Current plan of attack is shutting the door as fast as possible to stop stuff falling out 😁

doradoo · 03/11/2020 07:40

Can you get a pull out basket which goes in the cupboard?

I have mine in a drawer, stacked inside themselves and lids Standing against the front of the drawer. I decided not to hang on to random ice cream tubs etc as the volume was getting out of hand.

zatarontoast · 03/11/2020 07:41

I did this recently and just three most of it in the recycling bin. It was so liberating! I only kept about 5 containers. It's scary how quickly I accumulate more though.Just do it OP.

burglarbettybaby · 03/11/2020 07:42

I have a very large bread bin in a cupboard and I dumped out a lot of mine.

Jackparlabane · 03/11/2020 07:43

If I rule the world, I'm making it law that only one design of plastic takeaway box is allowed and all lids have to be interchangeable...

Actually, I may just ban all plastic boxes other than genuine Tupperware - my mum has some that's still going strong from the late 1950s. Unlike bloody Loctite boxes which last about a year before warping irredeemably or their clips snapping offf.

I met some guys trying to sell Tupperware in the UK years ago and thought their prices were unreasonable, back pre-kids. I should have bought a pile...

Need to sort my corner cupboard, not because the boxes at the front have bred and mutated so much, but I can't find my lidded dish for braising meat. I've looked everywhere else.

Ohdeariedear · 03/11/2020 07:46

Ha ha the Avalanche Cupboard is exactly it!!! I’m doing the children’s cupboards today, which can also have avalanche tendencies. Argh. Love the thought of us all tentatively opening doors today and seeing what falls out....🤣

Ariela · 03/11/2020 07:47

It's true what you say about Tupperware lasting and being worth the money. I just chucked all the warped cracked stuff and it is Tupperware mostly that's left.

bigbluebus · 03/11/2020 07:52

I've got a large plastic tub in my cupboard with all the aforementioned items stored in it. Then I can just lift out the tub and find what I want. My problem is DH whose only job in the house is to do the dishwasher but who quite clearly was never given any sort of stacking toy as a child so doesn't put things away with smaller items stacked inside larger ones

EasilyDepleted · 03/11/2020 07:53

Do it! It needs a sort out every now and then because people just dump stuff in and the aforementioned random takeaway boxes that don't fit do accumulate. Drawer definitely better than cupboard.

Ooh love the after photo. I'm thinking of being a drawer convert now. But what about my drawer things.... Before and afters would be satisfying.

NoSquirrels · 03/11/2020 08:16

The only way that works for us is ruthless insistence on things not going back in the cupboard unless the lid is on the container. They take up more room that way, but you don’t have the frustration of the kids and boxes with no partners, and also people have to take the time to stack properly. Chuck away all substandard ones and leave only the nice ones. The others soon multiply anyway.

Bbub · 03/11/2020 09:48

I cleaned mine out last night and it was ridiculous how many bloody lids I had without the corresponding tub.

I think the lid on method is the best..Searching for the lid is the worst part.

Oh ive got to train myself to not keeping crappy ones in the first place.

It was so liberating chucking them out! I just have a neat stack now

Flagsandcastles · 03/11/2020 12:09

Done! Before & after shots to follow.

I sorted ours out by getting all the recyclable ones recycled and buying stackable replacements. Bliss!

OhDear2200 · 03/11/2020 22:54

I’m worried about the level of pleasure I get from seeing other people’s Tupperware neatly stacked.

I’ll blame it on Lockdown.
