hmmmm....mine just won't come out of the bed bit....they scurry out for food when they don't think anyone is looking but at the slightest noise they dash back in....

They wouldn't cope with a play pen, they wouldn't have any where to hide!

The cage is taking up the majority of the hall....it was the quietest place I could think to put them.

OP posts:
ludaghoul · 13/10/2007 15:49

Yeh...they are 2 females...I read somewhere it takes females longer to "trust" their owners....the males are more sociable apparently (except I didn't know that before I bought them)

OP posts:
ludaghoul · 13/10/2007 15:55

I much prefer them indoors though, I worry about them at night in the garden...its cold! and the slugs get in their cage....and its damp....and their little feet are always cold when I pick them up.

I have to clean them out more often too now...which can only be a good thing.

They had a Pigloo in the hutch outside....had to take it out tho' as they just chewed it to bits....didn't think it would be very good for them!

Don't have a waterproof cover no....TBH they need a new hutch completely...our neighbour gave us this one and it has seen a fair few rabbits...it leakes a bit.
I was planning on having them inside until the spring, and then spending some money on a decent hutch. The hutches are quite pricey for what they are. I couldn't afford a new hutch and cover etc this winter really.

lol luda and ruby well, as I am scared of being reported to social services, I decided against either of your suggestions lol... and hoovered and mopped. AGAIN.

Ah well, she finally got the message after I threw a tantrum, and is now leaving her trainers outside before coming in.

Everything is done now. Dinner is cooked. Just waiting for visitors to arrive around 6.

Oh, dh said that the Hot Chilli Pipers were at the retail park playing. Said they were absolutely fantastic! Typical, they get a free concert and I get to mop and hoover over and over and over....

spookybatoscar · 13/10/2007 16:25

Afternoon Everybody

Had to take DS downtown and find something to do while DH was in the barber's. We got his doll a new set of clothes. DH asked if I'd passed on Ds's old baby clothes there. I said it was a good job DS called his doll Ed (and it is getting confusing at oscar acres). Then we spend 90 mins in the circle of hell that Dante would have included in Inferno Part 2: Saturday Morning at Tesco.

Didn't have a good night's sleep last night. Tho I did have a couple of 'interesting' dreams about Jonny Wilkinson tho (No you 'orrible lot, not interesting in that way). So I am kompletley cnackered. DS at MIL's, DH at football, so do I go to bed? NO that would be totally logical. Instead I

Clean out the cat trays
Wash the trays and reline
Sweep out the coal cellar (where the trays live)
Bag up the spent litter
Heave up the steps and throw in grey bin

Vac Kitchen
Vac staircase and landing
Vac bedroom
Cart Vac downstairs again
Load DW and run
Clean out the oven

Mop front room
Mop Bathroom
Mop bedroom floor
Mop Kitchen
Check bank account

Going to have a nice hot bath and listen to woman's hour (I miss Jane Garvey on Radio 5)

We want to get an outdoor hutch and run for the gp's (may stick dd3 out there with her muddy trainers too). We've decided to be brave and attempt to build one ourselves... had a look on the net for easy plans, but they are incredibly few and far between. So going to nip down the library when I have the chance to see if I can get a book with some kind of instructions.

But we will probably put them out once the winter is over as I had heard that gp's don't retain heat in their bodies very well so its best to keep them in in cold weather.

gibberish · 13/10/2007 16:29

Wow, you are brave venturing into Tesco at the weekend...

ludaghoul · 13/10/2007 16:45

GO I heard that too, and that they suffer from respiratory illnesses mostly...so my damp drafty hutch is probably not the best thing to put them in!

I am sure they will get used to it soon....we have only had them for about 4/5 months...so they are still getting used to us anyway

OP posts:
ludaghoul · 13/10/2007 16:46

ooooohhhh didn't think of that!

I think I'll save up for a new hutch....and then next winter maybe get a hutch snuggle thingy...I'd like some more guinea pigs...so next year they may be better off in a hutch rather than crammed into the indoor cage...as long as I have a nice cover for them

lol Luda your dd2 is very cute!

Dh has had to work this afternoon so the kids and I have been out on a walk to the shops which then turned into a play at the park and a general tour of our village Have come home for a bath and then I've promised dd she can watch Come Dancing (ds is not impressed with this proposal!)

hello again, didn't make it to the park, dp feeling ill, ds & dd tired and grumpy.

Small comment on gp's when we were little had a gp who lived till 8, v.good for a gp. vet said central heating is v. bad for them so we kept the hutch in the garage, and put them in outside run in the day unless very wet or cold. brought them in sometimes for a cuddle, but they didn't like it much!

ludaghoul · 14/10/2007 08:02

Morning everyone...I actually had a small lie-in today! We have only just got up (makes a change from the normal 6.30)

Well...I think the gp's are getting a bit better, as they have actually eaten all their food (which they hadn't touched previously)so they must be waiting for everyone to go to bed before they eat

Today I am going to: (in no particular order)

~Change all the bed sheets
~Clean the fish tank out
~Tidy the kids rooms
~Do some ironing (watch Eastenders as I do it)
~More washing....washing never stops!
~Do my welsh homework ready for tomorrow
~Make cauliflower cheese for dinner
~Make some flapjack for kids

Oh...and my routines as normal of course

Have a good Sunday ALL

Morning all Too much chat to catch up on, and lots of gp stuff which I still read as grandparent, so sorry if I have missed something important in the middle of it all.

Just wanted to say to Trinity that yes there are two FLY threads running at the moment, as one is a babystep thread. Hopefully they will join us when they finish

I'm finally fully recovered.
We have a free ticket to see Ratatouille this morning so that is our plan for the day, plus some shopping, and pet cleaning, and my normal routine.

Hope everyone is well....

squatchette · 14/10/2007 08:39
