Hi squatt at your poor gp! Good luck with the car hunt.

Trinity I am sure you will be ok...remember....baby steps, start by shining your sink...and the rest will follow. I am sure the babystep gals will be very supportive

well I haven't actually done very much yet...I am trying to persuade DH that it is a good idea to buy me a new pair of jeans

Kids are playing very nicely this morning so I should really get on with my list.

Good morning

squatchette your poor guinea pig!
Jas good to hear you're feeling better. Enjoy the film
Luda my children have been playing nicely this morning too - which is lucky cos dh got up with them so I could sleep in I slept very badly last night and ended up getting up at 3am it was so pointless being in bed Went back to bed/sleep at 5.30ish and slept for a little while, hope I can mange the day today! I'm on MSN for a bit if you're free to chat x
Trinity good luck with the baby steps. Be kind to yourself and stick to the basics, they do make a difference

Trying not to FLY much at the weekends...just need to do some laundry today and whizz the hoover round perhaps.
Also need to head to some shops to find FiL a birthday present for later in the week.

Dh has just brought me toast and marmite (he's picked up on my all-time downer the other day I think)
Have a good day everyone

BiancaCastafiore · 14/10/2007 09:39

Ruby I find that Kelly what-ever-her-name-is annoying too! But dd and I really enjoyed all the music and dresses...ds went to bed early in a sulk instead

Simply · 14/10/2007 10:08

Hello to all.

luda A tip from me. If you do a menu plan you'll work out how to use up the veg before it gets too old. i.e. if you're having lamb chops you might put parsnips, cauliflower and a few sprouts with them as well as potatoes and carrots. If something lighter like fish, you might use potatoes, carrots and broccoli or peas. If sausages, then an onion gravy. Etc. I think I have a menu plan thing saved on my PC. I'll e-mail it to you. Hth and that I don't sound bossy or anything.

Thanks BC. I do miss out on this thread on days I am working so I appreciate the update. Glad to see you more upbeat.

Right. I didn't sleep well and dh is away most of this week. I've got the new cleaners coming on Tues so I'd best crack on and clear some surfaces for them. See you later.

Simply · 14/10/2007 10:09

Hey BC, I've just re-read the bit about you not having slept well either. What a pair we are!

BiancaCastafiore · 14/10/2007 10:13

Simply Hope you can rest up today x

Jas · 14/10/2007 12:28

I didn't get to the cinema, as my car keys disappeared After 1.5 hours of hunting, my sitting room is spotless and I found them down the back of the radiator

The sun is shining ds is asleep and my children are playing outside too

Luda - I also menu plan and it does help me avoid buying random veg and then not using them too.

I hope all the tired people get a quiet day, and a bit of rest this afteroon

Neverenough · 14/10/2007 19:01

Hello Everyone

Sorry have not been here for a bit cos -we've had an offer accepted on a house and so am running around organizing like a banshee........

Am also managing to fly like never before-manic listmaking and doing loads of jobs I've put off for ages.....

Hope everyone is ok, will check back later when I have more time but probably not today.

Oh and the gp motif made me laugh!

Shannaratiger · 14/10/2007 20:05

Evening

congratulations Neverenough on the house.

Returning to the washing machine cleaning- it worked .
Obviously didn't remove 3 years build up in one go but managed to remove quite alot. Will add it to my monthly kitchen list.

ScaryMonsterStories · 14/10/2007 20:07

Just about to read thread...only have 2 mins...waiting for takeaway...spookybear tell me about your mop...I need a new one....please

SpookyBearistheSpookyBear · 14/10/2007 20:21

SMS don't humour me. Sob.

Now, vegetable racks, they ARE interesting . And multi-functional by all accounts.

ScaryMonsterStories · 14/10/2007 20:33

spookybear I am not humouring you. If you have a good mop I need to know about it before I go out and buy myself a new one as mine is knackered....or have I missed something? Are you being sarcastic?

SpookyBearistheSpookyBear · 14/10/2007 20:50

My new mophead is nothing special in itself. It is just a bog standard supermarket replacement mop head. I seriously hadn't realised what a difference changing the head after 3 years would make though. (Not being sarcastic!) And, do you know what , I hadn't even realised you could change JUST the mophead.

The old one stank.

And was still dank even though it hadn't been used for a week.

Years ago I once bought a whizzy £15 supermop or somesuch, but I don't think there's much point.

Shannaratiger · 14/10/2007 20:54

Butting in, i have given up on mops and use a steam cleaner for the floor & an h2o vac for big spills i.e. when defrosting the fridge or dropping a 2 litre jug of water on the floor. (have a small council flat kitchen though)

Shannaratiger · 14/10/2007 20:55

i ment the freezer

Jas · 14/10/2007 21:13

Buy a cheap mop and replace it frequently (No one can see the £1shop one I've had for the past 6 months, can they??????)

FunkyGlassSlipupandyouredead · 14/10/2007 21:21

Hmm - I was thinking the other day I have had my mop for 3 years. Maybe I'll get a new one this week .

Jas · 14/10/2007 21:22

Next weeks job for us all is to buy a new mop I think

ScaryMonsterStories · 14/10/2007 21:29

Well I have just been through thread...had a good night out. It was the first time DP & I have been out together & needed a babysitter since ermm...well...I was in labour with DD3 , and that wasn't exactly a night out!!! Can't remember the last time before that I am thinking about 4years ago ...but thinking surely I must be wrong .

Anyway we went to a party, then back to the house fioor drinks...except house was 25mins walk home. So we got in at 3am , with very painful feet (I had 2" heals/barefoot on the 25min walk). We slept in DTDs room and I was awake from 7am as DTD1 was upset (still got painful tum). We took my parents out to lunch...forgot to book had a 45min wait at first place so decided to go somewhere else. Still had a 20min wait and food wasn't as good so feeling disappointed about that.
Been to town to get replacement plimsoles as we were asked to replace DTD2s before she has an accident .... they were in 3 peices where she had pulled them apart - could have done without that actually...

Cosequently I am exhausted to say the least. I did catch an hour this afternoon but felt ill when I forced myself to wake up as I was soooo tired. Only switched PC on to do Tesco shop...now i seem to be MNetting .

can I go back to the GPs? Do they make good pets? DP is thinking that DTDs need a pet for XMAs...we have ruled out cats and dogs as I don't like dogs - he doesn't like cats.

Rabbits - probably too big and need too much space
Hamsters & gerbils (this would be what DTDs have in mind) - aren't they nocturnal & supposedly poor pets?
Which leaves GPs. They still seem a little big, not sure where we would keep it/them? Like the idea of the garage - but woudldn't the constant darkness upset them?

Luda I don't do much with veg....I only use a fairly limited range and do basic stuff with them (boil them, stick them in stews/mined beef dishes etc...)...most of the family are stern meateaters.

SppokyBear Sorry I missed you original mop welcoming, I don't always keep up with everything. I knw what you mean about a good string mop. We used to have one until I broke the bucket, and when we replaced it I brought a Vileda sponge thing - which I actually quite like for a quick swish round. You can't beat a string mop for a deep clean though. And yes you can just replace the head. I actually didn't have a stick for mine - I used to take my broom of hte handle and swap them over.

Anyway...I think I will say goodnight to all and go to bed (if I can tear myself from MN)

ScaryMonsterStories · 14/10/2007 21:31

Ooops sorry for the essay ...I was just a bit excited by my rare night out I think and the fact my PC hasn't even been switched on for 24 hours

SpookyBearistheSpookyBear · 14/10/2007 22:55

Glad you had a nice night out SMS, sounds like you deserved one!

I wouldn't recommend gerbils. I had them as a kid and they were rubbish pets. Mine used to bite if I tried to pick them up, and we had one pair that literally fought to the death. And another one that something even more upsetting happened to that I can't bring myself to type. Didn't stop us getting more bloody gerbils though. Think we had them constantly for about 10 years, and they were all, without exception, crap.
