Yes, I know there are other threads which I have looked at, but they are very varied for and against a dyson, for miele/sebo, for a stick vs corded etc. Do you or don't you like about your vacuum to help me narrow down my choice please.

This thread is a bit old now, so if you have landed here looking for recommendations, we recently updated our best vacuum cleaner buyers guide, featuring the best cordless, cylinder and upright vacuums, tried and tested by Mumsnet.

We hope you find this useful.

When I needed a new cleaner about a year ago, all my friends were trilling about their Sharks and so I bought one, but wish I hadn't

It may be because I have feather cushions on our side and it just can't cope. Always losing suction, filter needs cleaning every time.

Wish it would die....

UPDATE: I ended up buying a Henry Xtra machine, which comes with a turbo brush head. Overall, I'm pleased, but a few things are annoying. For context, I previoulsy had a 20yr old dyson cyclinder vac which worked great till it died a few weeks ago.

The henry is much heavier than the dyson. The turbo brush is extremely noisy on the wooden floors. The suction is amazing, to the point its actually difficult to move across the carpet. I like the wind up cord and the length is great.

I'm very pleased with it so far, but wish is was quieter.

Get a robot vac you won't regret it , they vac will you put your feet up. Go for a Eufy.
Slight down side is the don't vac stairs but they make up for it in every single other way

AlCalavicci · 20/08/2020 10:40

Bugger , just seen your update.

Is it to late to cancel the order . . .?

Have a look for a post on here called something like New Robo vac Parents for a idea of which ones are available and the prices.
I have a Eufy 11s , I love it !

What is the difference between the Henry and the Hetty, just the colour and the name or does it have different features?

WhamRap · 16/09/2020 23:04

@RoseMartha Henry is red and Hetty is pink. That's the only difference unless you add in Hetty's lovely eyelashes!

Crazydogmumma · 16/09/2020 23:10

Have to also recommend the Eufy. Have had mine 2 weeks- it hoovers everyday (whilst we are in bed) and the house has never looked cleaner!

People who have cordless Sharks, which one do you have? I have the stick per one, where the weight is at the top in the handle and I have to say I don't think it's great... Confused

RoseMartha · 17/09/2020 07:25

@WhamRap oh ok lol thank you

Ffsnosexallowed · 17/09/2020 17:14

We have a cordless shark with anti hair wrap - i love it. Henry was too heavy and unwieldy, and hard to do stairs

SadSack39 · 17/09/2020 17:30

HENRY! I miss him.. most reliabld vacuum i ever had.. i got a dyson V6 and i hate it.. dysons are rubbish

Thesuzle · 17/09/2020 17:45

New shark owner here, previous hoover was a vax and it was ok but very noisy, shark is quieter, the head although smaller than vax is much more is twisty and gets into awkward areas. Shark dust canister is small i think, its attachments though are good.

TrickyD · 23/09/2020 15:16

The robot vacuum thread to which Alcalavicci refers is here

730 posts and barely any criticism of the various Eufys.

Most of us are in love.

Holothane · 23/09/2020 15:30

My Henry got too heavy we only have a small flat so our Gtech pro works for us, filter bags we empty so no awful filters to wash, so glad now I didn’t get a dyson.

MondeoFan · 23/09/2020 15:32

I have a new Shark pet hair one. Had Henry for years I did like it but now I have the Shark I'm like wow this is the best ever

heathergem · 25/09/2020 20:18

Miele cylinder - get one at the top of your budget, you'll not regret it.

cheezy · 25/09/2020 20:21

So far I love my new shark cordless. Got rid of my Henry as too big and heavy up stairs. Also my long hair was forever getting caught in the brush.

George441 · 08/12/2020 08:45

Another vote for Henry.
