Morning, sucked in by a thread last week I bought a eufy robovac in the full expectation it would change my life Grin

But, on arrival, I realised quite how big it is. And it needs a huge amount of clear space either side and in front of the charging station.

I'm a bit disappointed tbh. If you have one, where do you keep it and is it totally clear around it? Do you all live in minimalist Manhattan lofts?

An currently planning to return it.

Love mine! Currently lives under a coffee table that's against a wall, previously under a sideboard. So not intrusive/easily visible. Issue here is all the kids toys strewn everywhere that need to be picked up before use... 😬

FreeButtonBee · 10/08/2020 08:46

We mostly lift it to and from the charging station. Sweepy isn’t the best at making his way home In my house. It lives along the skirting board near the main sofa. I certainly don’t give him the full clearance they suggest hence helping him home like a drunken sailor

WaltzingBetty · 10/08/2020 08:49

Same as Free
My docking station is tucked behind the dog bed so he only comes out and goes back when I can supervise, I usually let him roam whilst I'm doing dishes or folding laundry then by the time I'm done my floors are clean

HellonHeels · 10/08/2020 08:54

I've just put the charging station by the only free socket I have. Doesnt have the recommended space, still works. I'm still getting to grips with operating it, but I love it because it vacuums right under the sofa.and bed.

We've had ours in different places, but it helps her not to get lost if there is a clear path home. This year, we have been decluttering and have been able to reduce the amount of furniture we have, so it gives us more options.

The bugbear here is that she gets caught on phone cables or the edges of rugs. She is set to go round while we're asleep and regularly find her asleep somewhere. During the day, we have to retrieve and reset her, but it's happening less because she's forced us to be tidier.

PaternosterLoft · 10/08/2020 09:53

Jeff used to live behind the door but then would get upset if anyone opened the door onto him. Now he's by the cat food and gets swiped if he tries it on with them. Unfortunately I'm going to have to move him because he keeps on trying to head out the back door on his way home. This morning he barged past the wall of shoes and boxes I'd put in front of it and had headed off around the patio until he was trapped under a chair. And then off course he's crying for help and I had no idea where he was...

ah ok, so looks as if they arent just for those living In converted warehouses!

Brill. hopefully we can get him started. Thanks all

My mum charged hers then lifts him up and places him ready to go. She doesn't have the room to give him the required clearance which only seems to be needed to return to base.
She just lifts him again and puts him back on the base.

Ichangedmynameonce · 10/08/2020 18:41

@Chameleon2003 , like a little pet Grin
thanks

I have recently bought a Roborock and I don't store it in the space it says is required around it. It still works absolutely fine so far.

averythinline · 10/08/2020 23:35

Marvin lives at a socket near the end of the sofa next to the door... not quite the space suggested but all ok so far .. he was chunkier than expected but I love him

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 10/08/2020 23:41

Mine gets lost frequently and can’t find his way home. I usually have to put him to bed. Bed is up against the bookcase. Mind you, he also annoys me since lockdown started by getting caught under DH’s office chair. It’s like he’s drawn to it - you remove him from it and carry him across the room and he goes straight back to it, ignoring the lovely dirt on the open floor. —and ignoring me saying “No, Eufy! Bad Eufy!”—

DramaAlpaca · 10/08/2020 23:43

I don't have one I think it would terrify my dogs but I love that so many of them have names Grin

Ichangedmynameonce · 10/08/2020 23:55

@DramaAlpaca I know! I'm keeping ours and going to give him a name ........

Under a unit in the corner next to the sofa. Definitely not the clearance recommended. This is our main family room so Suki cleans this each night and finds her way home no problem.

If I'm doing our bedroom or living room, I'll pick her up, carry her through and close the door for 20 minutes.

If you have a Eufy/ Robovac pls answer this
Graffitiqueen · 11/08/2020 00:01

Mine lives under the couch.

Ichangedmynameonce · 11/08/2020 08:24

excellent. thanks for the pic @JamMakingWannaBe, really helpful.

Mine lives next to my larder fridge. I have had to move my bin to the utility room to accommodate it.

brittanyfairies · 11/08/2020 10:19

Rufus lives in a corner of the living room. He occaisonally falls asleep in another room but more often than not he finds his way home.

I wouldn't be without him. He's worth his weight in gold

threesecrets · 11/08/2020 15:54

Ok I feel like an impulse buy coming on ... are they easy to empty? And whats the suction like?

Ichangedmynameonce · 11/08/2020 16:47

can anyone tell me how long your eufy 30 took to fully charge, before first use? it's been charging for 2 hours so far. Thanks

OP posts:
brittanyfairies · 11/08/2020 17:40

Very easy to empty and suction is very good. I have a Springer spaniel who takes pleasure in leaving hair everywhere and he gets everything.

My eufy 11 takes a couple of hours to recharge

easterflowerss · 11/08/2020 17:54

Are these good for all different floor types? We have a mixture of tiles, wood and carpet - v tempted after reading all your comments but only if it (he? she?) will be just as good on all of our floors!

SenorFrog · 11/08/2020 18:12

Eunice lives under my TV, I've moved the wires up against the wall and she lives in front of them. She just tootles off back to dock and I can't see her until she comes out again. It means I forget to empty her, but hey ho. I need another for upstairs now but dh says that ridiculous for some reason, so i carry her up twice a week and have to search for her when her battery runs out, sometimes that can take a good few minutes, lol

SenorFrog · 11/08/2020 18:15

@easterflowerss, my Eufy does carpet and wood, obviously I still need to mop but for picking up bits, she's great. She comes out just after tea (dinner for you southerners) and cleans up after me, ready for a nice clean evening in front of the telly. I'd highly recommend.
