TwoThumbsDon · 26/09/2007 15:07

Gave up duvets this year... time for extra blankets.. mmm snuggle.

bozza · 26/09/2007 15:11

So what exactly do you put in the loft? Other than the duvet? I have a lot of summer tops but I keep thinking that I could wear them with a cardie or with a long sleeve top underneath. I am going to do it later this week and get my winter coats, jumpers and boots out.

Flibbertyjibbet · 26/09/2007 15:16

Mega sort out this weekend, there are 4 of us now living in the 2 bed house I used to fill all by myself so twice yearly sorting and lofting is essential!
summer quilt in loft.
DS1's outgrown summer stuff in loft to await use for ds2, ds2's outgrown summer stuff in loft to await spring nct sale and seasonal ebaying next year.
DS1's stuff that we have been given too big in loft till he grows.
Bargains in next years sizes that I bought in summer sales also in loft.
Get down from loft all DS1's old winter stuff for DS2 this year.
Sort out winter stuff that doesn't fit for nct sale next month.
Phew feel like I am almost organised to do it already.
Heating went on last week (we being up t'north) and hot water bottle in use already.

Tortington · 26/09/2007 15:17

oy vey. - we have duvets - when it gets hot we use a sheet.

Bundle · 26/09/2007 15:18

Bundle · 26/09/2007 15:18

and on mine/dh's bed we have one of those summer/winter duvets with poppers

NorthernRockCod · 26/09/2007 20:19

I was thinking today that I need to put away all the wet suits and other beach clobber. We hardly used it this year.

ladymuck · 26/09/2007 20:21

No - but mainly because we're going away somewhere hot for half-term, so nuh.

But I'm starting to get the impression that I may as well pack the cases now as I doubt I'll be using any of the stuff int he meantime....

doggiesayswoof · 26/09/2007 20:27

right you are.

Winter duvet is at dry cleaners (has been sitting there for about 4 months, I hope they haven't binned it actually)

Heating has been on sporadically for the last month - Glasgow - got cold early this year...

Once told everyone a story at work about a mad ex-colleague who used to put all her 'summer wardrobe' away in the loft. I thought this was wild ocd control freakery, but about half the room nodded going 'yes I do that' and I realised I had to grow up

blossomsmine · 26/09/2007 21:55

Oh...i don't put anything like that in the loft...i just can't stand going up there. So much hastle getting a long ladder out (don't have the luxury of a loft ladder attached) then going up in the dark and finding somewhere to put stuff that i will never find again.
Also i keep vest t shirts and summer t shirts for wearing under cardigans and jumpers. We also use the same duvet all year round...am i doing this all wrong then??

Elasticbandstand · 26/09/2007 22:02

my youngest loves the attic. all those clothes that used to belong to someone else are kept in there to be brought down at this time of year!

Elasticbandstand · 26/09/2007 22:02

i know someone who put their summer stuff, not in the loft but in the bin! by mistake didnt realise til the following summer

NorthernRockCod · 27/09/2007 08:04

get all your dh s to install a loft ladder
we put tpoys upt here( dor ds3) on a roataion

I always wondered where people kept their spare duvets etc, now I know. Only small problem is we haven't got a loft, so I am no better off for knowing !
