FLYing - baby steps - day 3

SAHMof1 · 25/09/2007 21:10

Wednesday - day 3 - Read FLYLady reminders

This is about getting into the habit of reading the FLYLady reminders. If you want to, you can sign up to get these reminders e-mailed to you directly via the yahoo group, but you will get around 15 e-mails a day.

REMEMBER - for the moment we are only required to read these reminders (to get a sense of what FLYLady will ask of us when we are ready). WE DO NOT NEED TO DO THESE THINGS. We are still on babysteps.

But my thoughts are that I am going to keep my house ticking over the same as I have been up to now; i.e. do the washing when I need to, and put it away when there is no room to walk in the bedroom etc. I hope then that later I will start to do my washing as a proper FLYBaby.

I must say that I have had a shiny sink, which also means all washing up done and put away, these past two nights now, and that has made a big difference in the morning!

And finally from me, hello to everyone who is joining us at this early stage, be you a new FLYBaby like me, or experienced FLYBabies. I really felt alone in my messy house with no-one to help me, as DH has a higher tolerance for mess than I do, so a sincere thank you for the support you MNers give me. I hope this will be my turn around!!

Up, dressed, dishwasher emptied, breakfasted, sink shiny .

What kind of things does she remind us to do? I'm reluctant to open my inbox up to more emails that I'll never read!

SuperMonkey · 26/09/2007 07:55

Sorry - ignore - should have just opened the link

Bienchen · 26/09/2007 07:57

Good morning,

dressed and woken to a shiny sink. DP v supportive as he hates mess too. DS (12) probably not bothered...

So far so good. Baby and me are off for 5 days from tomorrow am, so we'll try to rejoin when we are back.

Happy FLYing!!!

Cappuccino · 26/09/2007 09:06

did all steps things

usually read her emails anyway (well sometimes!)

flowerybeanbag · 26/09/2007 09:13

morning all

I am dressed and have my shoes on. My sink is shiny. I have put some washing on as well, hoorah!

I have read the reminders, and it appears I have some way to go - my hair is wet, no make-up on and breakfast was Pringles and a diet coke

Oh well, baby steps baby steps

daisyandbabybootoo · 26/09/2007 09:26

morning..

am dressed to the shoes, dishwasher loaded and on, sink shiny, and about to sort laundry.

i've read the reminders, and i know we're not supposed to do anything bu read, but i must sort out and fold/put away......i can't find any underwear of a morning!

madamy · 26/09/2007 09:46

am dressed to shoes (mind you, have taken dd1 to preschool), dishwasher empty and sink shiny. Rest of house a tip though!

unglued · 26/09/2007 10:07

my washing machine is broken

pagwatch · 26/09/2007 10:20

Doing fine so far. the baby steps really help me as I was feeling really overwhelmed. I am finding that coming down to a cvlearer kitchen is a great start - and getting dressed before the kids get up is really making me feel ahead ofthe game - ah well, first time in 14 years so its a start!

PeckaRolloverAgain · 26/09/2007 10:32

im dressed but havent shined sink yet.

Will go do that now!

laloop · 26/09/2007 10:35

Dishwasher running, sink shined. Showered, dressed to boots (no make-up yet though). Will tackle the laundry mountain this morning. Oh, and drink lots of water if I remember.

Cappuccino · 26/09/2007 11:23

FLAME FLAME I have found the three-month lovefilm voucher

dd2 and I have been in our zone (you'll find out about this later). We have been in my bedroom with a feather duster.

She is very good at polishing, she thinks

PeckaRolloverAgain · 26/09/2007 11:33

Ok washing rebooted and dishwasher running

Still yet to shine sink! doh

It is empty now though!!

SuperMonkey · 26/09/2007 13:15

I've found Shiny Sinks in Morrisons - can't wait to give it a try

bilblio · 26/09/2007 13:17

Woke, fed baby upstairs so I could get washed and dressed before coming downstairs. Grabbed some washing while cleaning my teeth, made bed.
Came down dressed baby, unloaded dishwasher while making breakfast. Ate breakfast, entertained baby for an hour, both went back to bed...

Well it started well.

The computer is now on and I have to take DD for her first lot of jabs so I doubt anything will get done for the rest of the day.
I'm happy though becuase at least the babysteps tasks are done and a clean sink area makes such a difference

SAHMof1 · 26/09/2007 13:58

Just popped in to see how everyone is doing ? the real key to this, so everyone tells me, is not to rush it. It?s about establishing routines that stick. If you try to do it all, you?ll get overwhelmed and give up, and then feel like a failure. If you have a shiny sink and got dressed first thing this morning ? you are a big success. It doesn?t matter if you then went back to bed! YOU ARE A SUCCESS!

I have a shiny sink and I got dressed first thing this morning. The rest of my house is still in CHAOS, but I have succeeded in my baby steps thus far. I am a success!

When you get other things done too, well done, but don?t think what?s ahead, think what you?ve done. This is all about Finally Loving Yourself (FLY) so be positive!!!!

sink still shiny....check
shoes still on....check

Have also done washing and dishwasher today and wiped down worktops in kitchen [smug]

And after my v un-nutritious breakfast am now having wild mushroom soup for lunch.

funnypeculiar · 26/09/2007 14:22

Morning all
Sink still shiny.
Perfume on (instead of shoes)

I've leapt ahead a bit (bad I know, but i have done babysteps a couple of times before!) & did a 15 mins decluttering in the bedroom -sorted out all my shoes, put summer shoes in box for loft, and binned about 10 pairs of manky shoes that I never wear. Shoes look all lovely & lined up instead of piled in a heap on the floor
Hugely therapeutic & will pop them in the recyling bin on the way back from picking ds up from preschool

funnypeculiar · 26/09/2007 14:22

Lord, it's afternoon isn't it

tibni · 26/09/2007 14:28

Afternoon all, Had a friend over all morning which was great. I too am doing little "extras" - not going over the top as in burn out just hotspots and mission and trying to establish some routines.

Have a good afternoon everyone

flowerybeanbag · 26/09/2007 14:31

people are doing hotspots, decluttering, routines etc

Am I being rubbish just putting my shoes on and shining my sink and doing some washing etc? Please reassure me!

[inadequate emoticon]

funnypeculiar · 26/09/2007 14:32

PBB - I think you are actually being good & sticking to what you're meant to. Us naughty show-offs will just burn out in a week

funnypeculiar · 26/09/2007 14:33

FBB, sorry!

flowerybeanbag · 26/09/2007 14:38
SAHMof1 · 26/09/2007 14:46

I think someone mentioned on an earlier thread that people did burn out when trying to do too much, and others got disheartened when comparing their progress to those who ?jumped ahead? so dropped out themselves too.

I don?t mean to belittle what you?ve done, ?cause it?s brilliant that you feel proud of yourself, but we should all remember that frankly some of us NEED the baby steps and it really is disheartening to have others saying ?I?ve done this and this ??

I think that if you want to do more, fine, but this thread is about following the advice and taking baby steps!

So FBB be pleased with having done the baby steps! I am!
