FLYing - baby steps - day 3

Wednesday - day 3 - Read FLYLady reminders

This is about getting into the habit of reading the FLYLady reminders. If you want to, you can sign up to get these reminders e-mailed to you directly via the yahoo group, but you will get around 15 e-mails a day.

REMEMBER - for the moment we are only required to read these reminders (to get a sense of what FLYLady will ask of us when we are ready). WE DO NOT NEED TO DO THESE THINGS. We are still on babysteps.

But my thoughts are that I am going to keep my house ticking over the same as I have been up to now; i.e. do the washing when I need to, and put it away when there is no room to walk in the bedroom etc. I hope then that later I will start to do my washing as a proper FLYBaby.

I must say that I have had a shiny sink, which also means all washing up done and put away, these past two nights now, and that has made a big difference in the morning!

And finally from me, hello to everyone who is joining us at this early stage, be you a new FLYBaby like me, or experienced FLYBabies. I really felt alone in my messy house with no-one to help me, as DH has a higher tolerance for mess than I do, so a sincere thank you for the support you MNers give me. I hope this will be my turn around!!

Sorry was just having a bit of a panicky moment, you guys carry on doing extra bits, that's brilliant, long as I know I am not being rubbish that's fine!

daisyandbabybootoo · 26/09/2007 16:18

good point SAHMof1. i think that is my problem, I try to do everything and end up achieving nothing.

i do need to tick over with other bits as well though as I'm literally drowning in a sea of clutter. not tackle them as such, just stop them getting any worse iyswim.

I'm quite happy to walk before i learn to FLY

trixymalixy · 26/09/2007 17:28

Ok
shiny sink - check
shoes on - well they were, they're off cause I'm sitting down for a bit, but will put them back on I promise!
read reminders - check

have also cleaned the windows downstairs only because the window cleaner came and did the outside this morning so thought I should do the inside to get the benefit!

Please dont rush through the steps. The system can really work but not if you dont take the time to create the new habits that Flylady is advocating.

If you rush through then you'll lose interest/burn out.

Personally i find general lists of housework as dull as the jobs themselves....but wrap them up into 'proper' routines and then I find them strangely acceptable

If you object to me gatecrashing and telling you to do things properly then feel free to say ;)

Fine by me Funky, sermonise away - makes me feel good to be doing as little as I am!

SAHMof1 · 26/09/2007 20:36

Haven?t shined my sink this evening, but did dry it out after each use today. It?s got all of the washing up things in still, because my DS fell off a chair he was climbing on when I was washing up and he wanted some cuddle time, and then it was time for bath, bed etc. and I?m having a bit of me time on the internet now.

I will shine my sink before bed, because I am loving the first thing in the morning feeling!

And day 4 is here

IKWYM SAHMof1, it was so nice coming downstairs to a lovely clean sink. The mixer tap drips so I pushed it over the little 1/4 bowl sink in the middle so it would drip straight down the plughole and not leave any splash marks.

I need to sort out the dishes before I go to bed so it is shiny again. Somehow it makes the fact that you can't see any of the worksurfaces for clutter just that little bit easier to deal with.

I'm off to Morrison's tomorrow to get some "shiny sinks"
