Mission

It was very nice to read last nights messages. One of my neighbours HEs, and I'm fascinated by it. Not for me, though. I'm sure I couldn't do it.

Tortoise is on dial up atm, so posting erratically, but I think she is getting broadbad again soon Squatchette

Morning guys, nice to see more people. DD2 ill so just babystepping right now.

Simply · 21/09/2007 08:28

Morning to all and thanks for the thread, Jas.

I don't know what I'm going to be doing today. I'll play it by ear, I think. See you later.

Neverenough · 21/09/2007 08:37

Good morning all!

Jas I agree about HS-was very interested to hear about it! Think I am too impatient to do it myself.

FGS hope your DD feels better soon.

Busy day so will check back later....

BiancaCastafiore · 21/09/2007 09:09

Hello

I enjoyed hearing about HE too, but again don't think it's for us. I wouldn't feel capable and my children seem to enjoy and need the whole school environment. I have a friend who is considering HE as her dd just can't settle at school at all - I probably ought to recommend she comes on MN to chat to others about it.

FGS I hope your dd is better soon x

simply, neverenough and all Hello

I need to blitz the house today as we have my PiL coming for the weekend. Some areas aren't too bad so I'm going to start and the top and work my way down.

Have a good day, see you all later

gibberish · 21/09/2007 09:22

Morning everyone! Bit cold here today so planning to put the heating on, blitz the house and stay cosy

squatchette I'm sure I read that children only get about 15 minutes one to one tuition a day at school, so at least we are able to beat that If you want any more info about HEing just ask, or have a look at the Education Otherwise site www.education-otherwise.org/ as there is loads of advice on there.

I paint anything really, portraits, animals, landscapes, a bit of abstract. I work in acrylics and oils. Am rubbish with watercolour!

Bianca I'd be happy to chat to your friend if she comes on

Okay, need to prepare my list, have a look at the mission and think about what to make for dinner. Be back later!

ludaloo · 21/09/2007 09:24

Morning ladies

gibberish, I've just re read last nights posts, it is interesting, you do a grand job!
I have been seriously thinking about what I am going to do when my youngest is 4 and off to school, I couldn't do HE as we need a second income...and I need to get back into work. Funnily enough though I'm considering teaching...I've been checking out PGCE's...and local colleges who do them.....I'm even starting Welsh Lessons on Monday (EEEEEEKKKKK!!!!!!)

squat Hello nice to have you back

Hi to ALL

Well, I need to get organised....the house looks like a bomb site, I need to tidy pretty much everywhere!
I'm flapping about my welsh classes....I have to see if I can find my braincells first, as they have been misplaced somewhere over the last 6 years!
(Actually my first thought was...Yippee I can buy a nice notebook and pens LOLOLOL!...Any excuse)

BiancaCastafiore · 21/09/2007 09:29

Good for you Luda the Welsh classes sound like a good first step towards getting back to work
I've just arranged to help at the school one day a week

Simply · 21/09/2007 09:33

Hello again to all.

I hope you're dd feels better very soon FGS. Sorry, I missed your post earlier.

You can practice your Welsh out on me luda. And your children, of course! S4C is pretty good for getting used to hearing the language. Put 888 on and you'll start to follow the programme. Planed Plant is excellent. If you go into the Welsh bookshop on the corner opp Laura Ashley, you can get WCW, a child's magazine. That is very good, too. It has an insert which is bi-lingual.

Right. I'm off to do some more, see you later.

EHM · 21/09/2007 09:50

Ah...thanks simply That sounds like a good plan...we sometimes do have Planed Plant Bach on...I will check out the book shop, as I'd like to get a decent welsh dictionary.

Bianca I have just arranged to help run the Gardening Club at DD1's school. They were glad of the help despite me not speaking welsh yet. I have also put my name down to be a nominated leader for DS's nursery....so if one of the leaders is ill or on training, they have someone to step in...otherwise they have to close it. Again, my lack of welsh didn't seem to be a problem....all good experience though
Are you going to do classroom help?

ludaloo · 21/09/2007 09:56

Oh...and thanks EHM

Just waiting for my kitchen floor to dry...(good excuse to MN )

Massive lists gibberish and EHM!

BiancaCastafiore · 21/09/2007 10:06

Just realised you've done most of your list EHM well done you!
Enjoy mini Moovers

ludaloo · 21/09/2007 10:11

I know the odd phrase and several words....I can count to 10! I know most of the colours, and how to greet, say goodnight etc. I also manage to get the jist of most conversations, but only because they throw the odd word in which is the same in English!

I've been looking at what the requirements are for Teacher training in Wales...to do the ITT (Initial Teacher Training) you don't need welsh at all...but to do the NTQ (National Teaching Qualification) you need basic Welsh at least. Lots of welsh schools teach in English...but are often bilingual. I'm interested in ages 3-7 years, so I'll need to know enough welsh to communicate effectively to that level.
I'm thinking that I have at least 2 years to learn welsh and get experience, before DD2 goes to school, so I should be able to learn in that time ()

ludaloo · 21/09/2007 10:45

Bianca oooh that sounds really good, I sooo wish I was better at sewing and such like....I looked at the stae of my sewing kit the other day and its shameful. I'm going to make it my mission to buy decent contents for it. It might then spur me on to actually sew something!
