Can we talk about robot vacuums?

It arrived today and I've just let it vacuum every room. I love it! It's my second robot vacuum. The first one was a Roomba and I loved it very much but sadly it's dead... I had been without it for years and really wanted to own one again. The new one is a eufy - a lot cheaper than the old one but I am very happy with it. Having a robot vacuum is a game-changer for me! Just wanted to share my excitement, I guess!

@Pelleas ours has a sensor to stop it falling downstairs although it does suggest in the manual putting something at the top of the stairs to block it just in case although I never have.

RubyDreamsOfRainbows · 25/06/2020 14:08

Well done! But... why are they selling?! Confused

Pelleas · 25/06/2020 16:07

Thank you @notso. I might see if I can download some instruction manuals to get a feel for how they work. I'd be looking at an entry-level one on my budget but I'm not fussed about controlling it with an app. Happy to just set it going when needed especially as I may need to shut the cats out because I can see them chasing it!

magnaconcordia · 25/06/2020 17:09

Mine has a sensor too. No accident so far. Some robots let you place a virtual wall for an area you don't want them to enter. We don't use any smart programme so no virtual wall nor app. It's efficient enough for me without them. Occasionally DH gets attached by our eufy when he is making a tea though. It tries to climb on his feet as he stands still...

I saw a cat sitting on the top of the robot as it went around. So cute.

I would love it if my cats used it as a mode of transport! Grin

@RubyDreamsOfRainbows Unwanted gift for a single guy, it seems like ...I'm hoping they just haven't realised the brilliance of it!

RubyDreamsOfRainbows · 25/06/2020 22:17

Having looked at a few it looks like the roborock S5 max would be great for us. Can't wait to hear how you find it!

Babymamaroon · 26/06/2020 21:23

Roborock is in da house!! It's finally here.

I haven't yet got it going as needed to set it up and charge which took a couple of hours.

It came with a UK plug after all Smile

I will get it going tomorrow and be back to let you know how the first outing is!!

RubyDreamsOfRainbows · 29/06/2020 09:48

@Babymamaroon how did roborock do?! 😃

ToooTicky · 29/06/2020 11:30

Well, my Roborock arrived about an hour ago and it’s already whizzing around my living room/dining room! It got wedged on one leg of a chair which is rather a strange shape, but worked it’s way off without any assistance from me. And I’ve pulled my dining chairs out so that it can clean around them.

Haven’t seen what it does with the hallway carpet yet - obviously it was only 50% charged when I started the clean so I’m not expecting it to do all of the ground floor on its first outing. I think I might love it already though Grin

Babymamaroon · 29/06/2020 17:05

I'm ready to write my review having used it several times and used the mop function.

The bad news is - I don't think this is going to last. Because I'm bloody obsessed with it, in love with it and have it roaming upstairs and downstairs whenever possible Grin

It does maps of different floors and you can isolate zones for mopping. You do need to take it upstairs or down and also bring the docking station and mat with you for each floor. Slight drag but only a minor downside. As I was also sent a UK plug cable, I've plugged in the EU one upstairs so I don't need to bring the cable each time too.

The mopping did quite a good job in freshening up my hard floors but won't replace a proper good mopping.

It's got great auction on it but it does lose suction when it's full. So make sure you empty it often. That in itself is really easy and straightforward. When empty it's fantastic at picking up.

I HIGHLY recommend and can't understand how I have managed for so long without!

This has been my best purchase in years.

Oblomov20 · 29/06/2020 17:10

I so want one. Dh not keen. I read do many reviews and find it completely confusing as to which one I want. The room mapping? The holds a lot of dirt?
Wish there was a tick box website where you could tick your top 5 essentials and it would tell you which one was best for you!

Babymamaroon · 29/06/2020 17:32

Oblomov

I'd say you def need mapping. The mopping is a handy extra. I also think this holds a reasonable amount of dirt before needing changing.

This is a low to mid-range price and when I was researching, this came up as being best value etc.

Bettercallgall · 29/06/2020 17:38

I was looking at them but probably a bit too much of a luxury for us.

This put me off too.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 29/06/2020 17:45

I bought a mid range eufy a few months ago. It was crap. I left it to charge for a day or so and then set it off to clean, following the instruction book. It kept running out of battery before finishing a single room (they are quite big rooms but not insanely so) and got lost on the way back to the dock, so didn’t recharge itself. Tried troubleshooting and whatnot to no avail, ended up giving it to my mum who loves it.
