Can we talk about robot vacuums?

It arrived today and I've just let it vacuum every room. I love it! It's my second robot vacuum. The first one was a Roomba and I loved it very much but sadly it's dead... I had been without it for years and really wanted to own one again. The new one is a eufy - a lot cheaper than the old one but I am very happy with it. Having a robot vacuum is a game-changer for me! Just wanted to share my excitement, I guess!

I have a Neato v5 and love it, my floors have never been so clean. It takes me two minutes to get the downstairs ready (move vase of flowers and lamp from side table and make sure there are no cables dangling) then I either walk the dog or go for a bath. So nice to know that that's one chore done with no effort.

Would love to hear more about people who have bought - or even just investigated - the combo mop/vacuums. I have been looking into a roborock, my husband is very sceptical. We have a toddler so; sand trekked in from sand table and food thrown down from high chair.

I don't mind the idea I'd have to do a more thorough 'mop' of the high chair area but I'd love the idea of being able to mop bathroom floors and I'm not sure if the combo ones are good enough, have read v contrasting things online.

I have just bought a Roborock vac and mop S5 Max. I am beyond excited!!

It vacs and mops hard floors and vacs carpet. Perfect as have a complete mix in the house. With young children in and out of the garden and generally creating loas of crumb trails, I'm hoping this is the holy grail!

I do have a cleaning lady but I'm hoping this will reduce the load and so hopefully time saved on all of that can be spent on other things.

I will report back how I find it.

Also, in the spirit of true Mumnettership, I plan to add a drop of Zoflora to the water to ensure the house smells fab as it works its magic

@Babymamaroon, can I ask where you ordered the Roborock S5 Max from please?

This is the model I was looking at, but it’s out of stock on Amazon.

I did order from Amazon actually. They deffo have them.

I paid £409.00. I think you can get them cheaper than that but it wouldn't have been delivered until August.

Thanks @Babymamaroon, I saw them for £409 but they’ve got an EU plug rather than UK, should be ok with an adapter though I think.

I considered the combo mop/vacuums but decided to be against. Waiting to hear some feedbacks!

I love my Eufy, I was going to get a cordless shark then saw Eufy. So glad I did.
I'll be interested to see the reviews for the mopping ones.

I'd thought about a robo vac before but wasn't sure.

• How do you do stairs? Do you get a handheld as well or something else?
• There is a high threshold between our dining room and kitchen, if you're similar is it a pain having to pick it up and put it in each room?
• How often do you need to empty them?

Oh and have never had a cleaner. I don't see the point unless I can afford a housekeeper!

@magnaconcordia Can you say a bit more about what you need to have a robot friendly house?

It doesn't need to be empty but ideally it should be relatively clutter free. You don't want to spend too much time and effort on prepping for vacuuming. I don't normally leave small items such as cables and tiny toys on the floor. I might move a few chairs but that's pretty much all I have to do and press the button then off you go - easy. Also better not to have long haired carpet/rugs.

My friend always leave stuff on the floor and also have long hairs rugs so she had to clear them up every time she wanted to use a robot and eventually gave up!

That’s what worries me because I have very small DC and even with huge effort, it feels the floors are rarely entirely clear.

I've always wanted one of these! Can anyone tell me what they do when they encounter a step? We have a step down to our patio doors in the living room - would it fall off and get stuck?
