Did you know this about Zoflora?

I'm sad but I follow Zoflora on Facebook. They recently put a post up stating that Zoflora, once diluted, which is obviously what you do with it, is only effective for 2 weeks. So if you have a spray bottle that lasts a while , it is completely ineffective as a disinfectant if it's older than two weeks. Nowhere does it say this on the box or bottle!

I think it's very misleading and out of order and completely different to Dettol and other disinfectants so you presume Zoflora to be the sane.

So the spray bottle that I've been using to spray door handles and shopping etc to kill coronavirus is complexly useless! It's just nice smelling water!

Did you know this?

Yes I knew this. Only from Instagram posts though

Thisismytimetoshine · 15/05/2020 18:34

Yes.

1vandal2 · 15/05/2020 18:36

Yes. Totally normal for all mix your own disinfectants.
Most pre made up bottles tell you to rinse off with water not just spray and wipe because they're alot stronger

MayFayner · 15/05/2020 18:36

I don’t know but I assumed it would “go off” after a while, yes.

Maybe if you diluted it with purified water it would last a bit longer? Too much faff though.

Whenwillthisbeover · 15/05/2020 18:37

I didn’t know, I have a diluted bottle that I have been merrily using in the same way, door handles, taps etc

Bugger

maresydoats · 15/05/2020 18:37

Makes you buy more. It is a joke.

SimonJT · 15/05/2020 18:39

It says that on the box (well it does the pet one anyway)

Its pretty normal for most chemicals that you dilute with water you're better off making a small amount and making fresh regularly.

I wouldn't use disinfectant for that purpose anyway in the current plague. You would be better off with soapy water or diluted bleach.

RiftGibbon · 15/05/2020 18:55

I only pour it out as needed. I thought that was what everyone did? I have just used it neat on a cloth to wipe over door handles, bells etc.

RiftGibbon · 15/05/2020 18:55

^as and when needed.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 15/05/2020 18:59

Or just don't constantly disinfect? If you are isolating, the best thing you can do is wash your hands and perhaps wipe very frequently handled surfaces like trolley handles and petrol pumps, you don't need to disinfect everything in your home constantly. There are lots of good bacteria your body needs, that help keep things like fungal infections at bay. Your environment is a balanced biome, let it live.

JemimaPuddleCat · 15/05/2020 19:01

I have anecdotal evidence to the contrary. I have a spray bottle I must have made up months ago. I accidentally sprayed some seedlings with it (meant to pick up the water one) and, as expected, killed them.

rainbowruthie · 15/05/2020 19:06

I also use it neat - door handles, cistern flush handle etc

LuxuryWoman2020 · 15/05/2020 19:10

No I did not know that! Mind you I probably make a fresh bottle every 10 days. Sometimes put a new capful into the old bottle too. Anyway my current one, midnight flowers? Or twilight flowers or something smells so good I'd practically wear it as perfume Smile

MetaWhat · 15/05/2020 19:13

I didn't know that! Thanks for sharing OP

Drivingdownthe101 · 15/05/2020 19:14

Yes I knew this. I make up small amounts as needed.

@JemimaPuddleCat don't know why but your post made me feel sad for the seedlings

JemimaPuddleCat · 15/05/2020 21:01

@emojisarentwords

Yeah I was pretty gutted at my stupidity. Planted more though

CorianderLord · 15/05/2020 21:04

It also has devastating long term consequences for marine life but no one ever cares about that

gamerchick · 15/05/2020 21:19

People on the pill don't care about marine life either... Apparently.

dicksplash · 15/05/2020 21:26

No I didn't know this! I had better start diluting smaller amounts 😠

Isleepinahedgefund · 15/05/2020 22:11

.... and presumably while you were unknowingly using fragranced water rather than disinfectant you haven't caught Coronavirus from your shopping or doorhandles...

Nomorewineever · 15/05/2020 22:16

Totally going off tangent but the cheapy knock off of zoflora that they sell at home bargains has a version called electric unicorn.

Shit name. Smells amazing.
