Mission

OP posts:
ludaloo · 19/09/2007 14:34

I'd start a thread BTW...lots of people might have been to both

gibberish · 19/09/2007 14:42

Goodoh on finding old duvet quilt cover Now you see, I would be frantically digging around looking for one and then realise that I had de-cluttered and chucked them all out. I'm always doing that these days - having a clear out then needing something that has gone a few days later

Yes, think I'll start a thread.

Neverenough · 19/09/2007 15:09

Hello ludaloo and gibberish...still roaming around the house looking for a sticky toffee cheesecake substitute..........

Jas · 19/09/2007 15:28

I have four custard tarts on the table yelling at meto eat them all before the dds come home, and then tellthem I have no pudding

I'm looking out for your thread Gibberish. No idea about either place, tbh but I will happily bump it once you've started it. Glad the funeral went ok.

I just tried to hoover and blocked the tube with a sticky sweet that attracted bits of fluff and paper. I've had to take it apart and clean it in the shower, so no more hoovering here until it is dry.

I alays find that with the decluttering, too. I'm not doing thesock bit of the mission for that reason. Last time I got rid of a lovely fluffy (odd) sock, the other one turned up down the back of the radiator.

Neverenough · 19/09/2007 15:39

aaah socks.....best not to get started on that subject....(go on gibberish, they'll never know you had 4 if you eat two and give the DDs half each.......[evil genius emoticon])

Neverenough · 19/09/2007 15:40

Oops sorry I meant jas-but gibberish feel free to eat any tarts you have about your person as well!

Simply · 19/09/2007 15:48

Hello to all. I don't know, I go off to work for 6 hours or so and this thread fills up!

Happy anniversary EHM.

BC and luda - I have e-mailed you both.

Right. Just about time for a quick game of chess before ds comes home from school! See you later!

BiancaCastafiore · 19/09/2007 15:51

Hello again

I'm having one of those bad, can't get motivated days
Have done nothing very constructive really, I'm almost ashamed to come back on here and admit it (but I'm hopeful you'll all be kind and tell me not to worry and that tomorrow is a new day etc etc)

Dd has come out of school in a terrible temper so she's in her room at the moment
Ds has gone for a walk with a friend
Dh is out till late-ish this evening. I hope to get some tidying up done once the kids are in bed.

I have no idea what to make for main course supper, let alone what to offer for pudding (I'd have eaten the custard tarts by now Jas It's a comfort food type of day here!)

neverenough I've CAT-ed you now

BiancaCastafiore · 19/09/2007 15:51

Thanks simply I'll go and look

Simply · 19/09/2007 15:54

At the risk of sounding very sad, M & S are doing black socks with the size (i.e. 7.5 - 9) inside the cuff in white so you can match up plain black socks easily and give them to the right person! Very useful when your ds is a size 7+ and so his socks look very similar to yours and your dh's! It saves me having to sew a bit of green stitching on ds' socks and purple on dd's.

Neverenough Go and get yourself a gold star sit on the naughty step for a minute and think about why you have these brilliant naughty thoughts and share your cunning evil plans with your friends!

Neverenough · 19/09/2007 15:56

Don't worry Bianca -I get loads of those days myself and at least I comfort myself with the thought that there are fewer than there used to be before I started to fly!

Very excited to look out for my first CAT!!!

When I'm stuck for an idea I look in the fridge and see if i can do a pasta bake!

We don't do pudding usually-yoghurt and fruit? Mine always love banana custard with jam.

simply is there such a thing as a QUICK game of chess?????

Oh and I love the word"cutchy" too-my girls cutchy up with me to watch TV or read or just for a cuddle!

BiancaCastafiore · 19/09/2007 15:59

Pasta bake it is then I expect...we had pasta last night though...

simply I think the M&S socks sound great! What a good idea. My mum always used to sew red thread onto my socks and blue onto my dbs

Neverenough · 19/09/2007 16:02

What about risotto then bianca? Or my other fallback cos I always have some chicken breasts in the freezer is honey and soy chicken with rice. If you have any broccoli you can add that but I often don't.
Quick easy and delish!

EHM · 19/09/2007 16:02

jas go on, go on, go on, you know you want too
sms welcome

Sorry it taken me over 30 mins to type this post, between numerous phone calls from dh, my bank, his bank.........knackered

EHM · 19/09/2007 16:06

oops missed a bit luda we say doolally too
gibberish glad funeral went well

BiancaCastafiore · 19/09/2007 16:08

Neverenough how do I make risotto then?
I have risotto rice and I have stock...what can I add to it? (I have bacon, broccolli, sweetcorn, peas, cheese...erm... Is it easy? (I seem to remember it all went horribly wrong last time I made it)

BiancaCastafiore · 19/09/2007 16:14

I'm going to just give it a go
We all like risotto, the only reason I think I've left doing it so long is cos last time was a disaster. Hope for better luck this time (but the way my day is going I don't have high hopes )

Neverenough · 19/09/2007 16:24

Right bianca sorry!

weat some onions in some olive oil then add the risrotto rice. Make sure you have some stock ready heated in another pan-it's bets if it's at boiling point when you start.
Do you want me to keep going?

gibberish · 19/09/2007 16:26

never lol - I've just eaten two scones with jam and cream - doggy bag from the funeral... but they were VERY small. Honest guv!

EHM and luda another doolally user here! Wish I'd called myself Doolally instead of gibberish

bianca have another

Jas decided we are going to go to the Science Park as dd2 has already been to Dynamic Earth. Plus, have just found out I can use our Tesco vouchers to get in free There were quite a few threads about both on here. MN - the font of all wisdom!

Have been sitting for the past hour filing all our paperwork. Couldn't stand it overflowing any longer but it takes so long to do. I wish I could get into the habit of doing it every day. Ah well, it's almost done now. Looking forward to getting back to doing the missions again!

Neverenough · 19/09/2007 16:26

Sorry, I meant sweat the onions!

Mostly you just add small amounts of hot stock frequently for about half an hour until the rice is cooked. You can add almost anything you like-broccoli is good. Garlic is good too and you add that with the onions but don't let it burn.
Parmesan cheese is lovely with it and you can add some white wine too if you have it-a glass is enough.

Neverenough · 19/09/2007 16:28

gibberish you deserved those scones-believe it!

I'm going to do 15 minutes filing now-I need a ladder to get to the top of my filing tray!

Neverenough · 19/09/2007 16:31

bianca if you are going to use the bacon cook it separately and add it at the last minute.
Add the broccoli about 15 mins in and the peas just need heating through really.
Don't let it dry out and stick.
Plenty of stirring, plenty of steam makes a good risotto!
Add the parmesan at the very end and a knob of butter to stir in and don't forget to season it well...let us know how it tastes!

Off to the butcher now, am hungry all this food talk....

Simply · 19/09/2007 16:34

Neverenough You and I x posted so you've missed me telling you off! Look at my 3.54pm post. I can play a level 2 game in about 20 mins against the PC. I've just finished off a level 3 game left over from Sunday in about 8 mins. It was a draw which was a good result for me as I had so few pieces left and I don't seem to do well unless I've almost got a full set, though sometimes I can win after we have a bit of a bloodbath on the board and both sides have lost about 6 pieces.

Off to have a mad 25 mins!

yaddayah · 19/09/2007 16:44

ehm happy anniversary !
harleyd stapler

cutch is a fab word will resolve to use it more.

All this talk of food is making me hungry .. don't you realise I'm on a diet !!!

Am currently having a cup of coffee in bid to delay dinner past 5pm

i want cheesecake and risotto and soy chicken thingy

Have sorted through airing cupboard
(brilliant idea about the duvet cover)

DH attempting to get back early (6pm) as he hasn't seen the kids since Sunday (been stuck in bloody meetings all week grrrrr)

So earlyish dinner

Have a good evening all

(trying not to sound like a policeman)

Simply · 19/09/2007 17:02

Hi yadda!

I've not done an awful lot in the last 25 mins......and neither will you if you take a look at this thread
