FLYbabies Day 4....write things down

Jas · 30/08/2007 06:49

Day 4
http://www.flylady.com/pages/reminder4.asp Today's reminders

This is taking things a bit too slowly imo. I don't need to write a reminder to tell myself to get dressed, and hopefully we are all shining our sinks before bed now.

blossomsmine - it is not compulsory to do every little bit exactly as FLYlady says. Even she says adapt the routine to fit your own life, not the other way round.

SMS - well done on the bra wearing! It is making me smile every time you mention it

i have just went through my post that has lay unopened for at least 3 weeks, i have paid all the bills and shredded everything and i now have a clear magazine rack

Madwelshwoman · 30/08/2007 12:21

I want to join in, I neeeeeedddd to join in but I can't keep a shiny sink with no dishwasher (no room for one either) I feel like I'm constantly doing the blimming dishes.

Help!!!

FunkyGlassSlipper · 30/08/2007 12:28

everyone is doing well.

jas - i have a baby, non-sleeping toddler AND noisy DH so am always up early!

Everyone is doing well.

Madwelshwoman. Try and aim to do washing up 3 x a day. after breakfast, after, lunch and after dinner. Don't worry about shining properly until bedtime.

Ok, is everyone dressed?

Has everyone got an almost shiny sink?

And has everyone done ONE two-minute hotspot yet?

Madwelshwoman · 30/08/2007 12:36

Right ok then count me in!!!! Can't really manage the full make-up before coming downstairs thing as I have a new pup that sleeps in kitchen and barks when she hears someone getting up so she'd wake everyone up if I did that. Therefore will try getting dressed, brush teeth and moisturise before going downstairs then finish off getting ready after brekkie. Does that sound ok??

Right off to do a hotspot (or several in my case!!)

pobletsmum · 30/08/2007 13:10

AAAAAAGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!! My house is one big hotspot! I don't know where to start - the hallway that I can hardly walk through, or the front bedroom (spare room) that I can barely enter, or any number of other hotspots, probably 2+ per room?????? I've read the 'what is a hotspot' link, but would like clarification about dealing with a hotspot please. When 'extinguishing a hotspot' do I have to clear every item to it's rightful place, or just move things to a drawer etc? I've searched the flylady site but couldn't find the answer. It might seem a silly question, but I want to do the right thing. If I have to put things in their proper places, I'll do very little in 2 minutes. If it's just a case of moving things out of the hotspot, I don't feel as though I'd be solving the problem, just moving it. Hmmmmmmm......

SlightlyMadShockwave · 30/08/2007 13:26

Well I am feeling pleased with mysel today....

I didn't have a shiney sink when I woke up as I got fatigued by school prep at 10pmlast night. BUT it is shiney now check
Bra on Check (just for Jas )
Read reminders Check but the ones Jas linked to were the same as yesterday - is that right? (must sign up today)
Todays Mission - magazine - Check
All carpets hoovered throughout check
Hotspot - about to clear the bottom of stairs

But I have to admit I didn't do any of teh above (apart from bra of course!!!) as DP seems to have had the morning off and has done it all for me .

Now off to deal with my hotspot. Back in 2

FunkyGlassSlipper · 30/08/2007 13:29

at sms dh - gold star.

poblet - personally i would put things in their right place. it will take longer but save you time in the lonmg run as you only have to do it once.

squatchette · 30/08/2007 14:09

Poblet i usualy put the hotspot stuff in a bag or box then you could set the timer again for returning stuff.I usualy find i can throw the bag away half full too.

Madwelshwoman · 30/08/2007 14:19

I get laundry basket for hotspot everything to go upstairs goes in it, downstairs stuff gets put away straight away. Then after finishing I take basket upstairs to distribute contents appropriately (well that's what I did earlier anyway, seemed to work)

ludaloo · 30/08/2007 14:35

my kitchen hotspot went straight into my kitchen drawer!
In my defense though...I only cleared the drawer out a few weeks back, so it is good for some more stuff for a bit longer I think.
I have another annoying hotspot...it is supposed to be household bills basket, which currently has an automatic card shuffler in it (which has been hanging around for months...must find a permanent place for that ) and two bits of the dado rail, which fell off the wall ...and need glueing back up...but I can't do that...well...I don't think so...have no idea if we have any dado rail type glue!??

MAN!!!!!

(has anyone seen that sketch show...whats her name?...she tries to do household things but ends up shouting "MAN!" and a hunky young man with no top on comes to do it for her!)

Madwelshwoman · 30/08/2007 15:13

Luda, get some No More Nails strips for the dado rail, much easier!!!

ludaloo · 30/08/2007 15:30

hmmmm....that sounds like a good plan....will have to wait until I'm in town though, I have now moved them out of the bills basket though

SlightlyMadShockwave · 30/08/2007 17:22

OMG...... I have just explored a little further in myu house....

In addition to my list of DPs acheivements I need to add

Dusted thoroughly around TV, DVD & Sky+ box
Cleaned glass cofee table
Cleaned hob and cooker front.

Jas · 30/08/2007 19:33

Evening all,

I've had a busy afternoon, with loads of children here playing, but have managed to clear up most of the mess and just need to shine the sink before I stop and open a bottle of wine.
DS had hisstitches out this morning, and fell and cut his head this afternoo, and is now steristripped. I'm beginning to think this is going to become a regular thing with him.

Hotspots - I try and choose one in the area where we are working. This week is the sitting room.

Set your timer, pull out what you need to but not more than you can put away in your set time (I tend to do everything in 15 min bursts now). Do not go and put stuff away, as you get distracted and don't go back and finish. Make a pile (bag/washing baske/ box)of rubbish, recycling, stuff to go upstairs and stuff to go in other rooms downstairs, and put then all in the right place once you are done.
