Shark corded or Miele?

Cornishbelle · 31/12/2019 09:53

Hi everyone looking for thoughts on which Hoover? We have a three storey house mostly carpeted but ground floor hard floors. We have two young kids and two cats so plenty of mess to clean! Currently have a Dyson cordless fairly old just not cutting it anymore. I considered Henry but got is telling me shark lift away corded or old school miele with bags.

Anyone with experience happy to say what they would go for in my circumstances? Thanks

Bumping because I'm also debating between a bagged or bagless model for a house with mostly carpet.

HighOnStilts · 01/01/2020 01:17

Shark lift away, it weighs a tonne and took me some getting used to but my lord it brings my carpets up like new, not even joking!! I love it!!

HighOnStilts · 01/01/2020 01:19

Just for reference OP, this is the exact one I have. We got it off AO - £200.

Shark corded or Miele?
LoopyLu2019 · 01/01/2020 02:21

Another vote for shark, love mine and used to have a miele and thought it was awful. Huge difference when I converted to shark

TheOrangeFox · 01/01/2020 04:28

Shark Lift Away. I was influenced by the Instahuns who Hinch their houses but I can't deny it's the best household cleaning appliance I have. It brings carpets up like new, especially if you own any pets or routinely trudge in crap.

I have the one pictured up thread ^

3kidsnomore · 01/01/2020 04:35

shark lift away, its amazing the crap it picks up.easily the best hoover I've ever had.

Cornishbelle · 01/01/2020 15:20

Thanks to everyone that has posted, does anyone know the model number of the one pictured?

@Cornishbelle

NV681UKT hope that helps!

HighOnStilts · 01/01/2020 22:28

@Cornishbelle I'll warn you now, the first time you use it the dust compartment will be full to the brim within minutes, it picks up an insane amount of dirt but after the first run it's easy to keep on top of!

TimeAfterTimeAfter · 01/01/2020 22:30

I've got one of those and it's very good. Keep an eye on prices as it varies a lot. For example I got it in February for £130 but I've seen it for more than twice that.

PurpleBee39 · 01/01/2020 22:48

Miele cat and dog is excellent.

teddybearsbear · 02/01/2020 08:23

I have that shark as well it's seriously amazing. You will be disgusted the first time you use it at how much it actually picks up! Got mine on prime day for £120 I think

PanamaPattie · 02/01/2020 08:35

Agree with PP. When I used mine for the first time, it removed so much dirt, I contemplated getting rid of the carpets and replacing them with wooden floors. It was rank. 🤢

roses2 · 02/01/2020 10:19

Another vote for the lift away. The lift away makes it so much easier to clean stairs and corners!

Cornishbelle · 02/01/2020 14:10

Thanks all we got the Shark model today just tried it wow you're not wrong about how much it picks up!! Dont know whether to be pleased or disgusted with myself lol! Definitely does the job well thanks again

@Cornishbelle Welcome to the Shark club! Bet your carpets look like new!! 😁

LakeFlyPie · 14/02/2020 09:26

I'm shopping for a Shark today.
Debating whether to get the True Pet Lift Away or sacrifice a little dust space for the anti hair wrap model (which is £50 more expensive).
Is the anti hair wrap a gimmick or worth the money?
Am tragically excited about vacuuming with the new machine

MayFayner · 14/02/2020 15:20

Shark owners- is it good on hard floors as well as carpet?

LakeFlyPie · 14/02/2020 15:50

I went for the hair wrap - true pet - all bells and whistles version and can report that it seems pretty good on hard floor (wood) and carpets /rugs. It has 3 settings; hard floor, low and high pile carpet.
As so many people seem to report I filled the dust canister (which does seem on the small side (compared to my previous Dyson) with one sweep of downstairs 😮

Yogawoogie · 14/02/2020 15:54

I love our Miele pet hair hoover but nothing compares to the shark lift away.
Great on hard floor too @MayFayner

StiffUpperQuip · 14/02/2020 15:59

I have a Shark and I love it. Can't compare it to a Miele one though as I've never had one. Bags would put me off though. I'd hate to be forking out money still long after I bought the vacuum cleaner.

EllyDellgato · 08/03/2020 09:54

I'd say neither, Moosoo is a lot more reliable for the price:

yatapina · 08/03/2020 09:59

I'm a cleaner - we have both at work and I really don't rate the shark!

Miele is FAR superior for hard floors and carpets imho. I have never had a hoover with bags before but having used this for the last 18 months I'm getting one for home when our old hoover dies.

The Shark is used by our handyman for tidying up after doing odd jobs but that's about it.

Oops - fell for the zombie thread 🤦
