OP posts:
Countingthegreyhairs · 27/08/2007 13:51

Hi Jas. Please may I join?

Flew for a while quite successfully last year and then crash-landed when my dd got three viruses in a row. Would like to start again ... (what do you do when flying is interrupted by illness btw??)

Thanks for going to trouble of posting all the essentials btw - much appreciated

SlightlyMadShockwave · 27/08/2007 13:57

Do housework before work - you have to be kidding.

I crawl out of bed at 7:30 and I am out of the house by 7:50...DP does the morning routine and he ain't gonna shine his sink on hte command of some flylady!!!

SlightlyMadShockwave · 27/08/2007 13:57

Wanders off to try and find the kitchen sink......

SlightlyMadShockwave · 27/08/2007 13:58

You mean I am not supposed to use cillit bang? or my stainless steel cleaner?

What is this Sanddown or something?

FunkyGlassSlipper · 27/08/2007 14:01

Hello everyone.

It wont take long to get used to Jas's lack of w's, I promise.

I am an intermittent Flyer. I started when pregnant and nesting and by the time the baby came my house was spotless which was lucky as it has been downhill since then. I do however have some kind of daily routing which includes washing machine, dishwasher, kitchen worktops etc.

Go with the babysteps. I seems to take forever but it also adds motivation and can help you build a routine.

For those that work, it is possible. I'm a sahm but often out so fit in my 15 minute slots when I can. I also learnt how to multi-task . So now, when the kettle is boiling for a cuppa I might empty the dishwasher or make my sink a bit shiner

FunkyGlassSlipper · 27/08/2007 14:02

"routing" wtf??

OK, so none of us can spell....

harleyd · 27/08/2007 14:05

oohhh i have a shiny sink
i would just like to thank all those who made it possible

jenthehen · 27/08/2007 14:07

Count me in I REALLY need it! I daren't do anything else - DH is reading over my shoulder and taking the mickey out of MN!

iris66 · 27/08/2007 14:08

I found some barkeepers friend in the back of the cupboard - my sink is soooo shiny now was I cheating? (does it matter if you cheat? .....iris scuttles off in shame to actually read the link that Jas so kindly put in )

Jas · 27/08/2007 14:11

A shiny sink is a shiny sink. I don't care ho you get there. Anything is a good start

I ill keep adding random FL links, for those ho ant them, as you aren't alloed to copty thier stuff direct.

I now wish I hadn't looked it looks so daunting (but at least I know I'm never going to "get up and weigh" so that's 1 less thing to do )

FlameBatfink · 27/08/2007 14:12

runnyhabbit · 27/08/2007 14:17

Cilit Bang is great on limescale

I'm totally computer illiterate SMS - I don't know hat a clipboard is I have a mac so I may not even have one I'm finding I can spell check some things to add it, but some it just doesn't recognise as incorrect.
Plus I'm too lazy to remember to do something different every time I need to type a certain letter

jas I used cilit bang on mine too! Didn't realise it was cheating

bigbear

These are the things I do Every Day...without fail....

~D/W
~W/M (usually 2/3 loads)
~Hoover
~S&S Kitchen/toilets (toilets are easy to swish round..I have some toilet wipes which you can wipe with then flush)
~Make beds
~Pick up dirty clothes

These are the things I do once a week...usually a saterday (on top of the everyday things)

~Change bed linen
~Wash towels
~Clean toilets/bathroom
~Dust

I also try and do the missions each day.
I sometimes do a big burst of cleaning when I'm in the mood...and I do the detailed cleaning lists. (It is easier to do this once you have established a routine)

If you perservear you'll get there. Its the clutter that is the nightmare really (you can't clean clutter as they say)once you have the clutter under control (and for me the washing was really awful...I was never ever up to date with washing...or putting it away!!)it will be a lot easier.

Then on top of it I still have to find time to occupy the kids...have a life (of sorts)...cook....wash...sleep!!! It is a blinkin nightmare really isn't it!!

If you have the energy and time (and rope in a helper maybe) a crisis type clean might help to get on top, once you are on top, it is easier to maintain.

Your doing brilliantly already though...keep at it and you'll get there

I've been slipping recently...I suffer from Migraines, and I had a whole week of them a couple of weeks back...I spent most of the day in bed for a few days running, and for me...that's all it takes! Dh looks after the kids really well, but doesn't really do the house!! I then feel like sh1t the day after a migraine and can't get into doing anything!! I'm still doing washing from last week! It doesn't take a lot to knock me off....I have shined my sink for the first time in ages today

ludaloo · 27/08/2007 16:00

I don't "home bless" (just the name puts me off!
I don't dress to shoes...or weigh myself....or have a journal...I don't even do the missions every day (I usually feel guilty for not doing them, and play catch up on a saterday!)

To be really honest, the FLY thread encourages me more than the FLY site or emails. I find a list of to do's more encouraging. (Its sad really...I look at a job and think...No.....I'll do that now, then I can log back on to MN and put a big black done by it!!
Loads of times I have to literally force myself to just get on and do it....especially clearing up after a meal...or doing the bathroom.

(BTW I have been meaning to do the bathroom all weekend...so I am going to do it now...before I find something far more interesting to do. I HATE DOING THE BATHROOM!)

FunkyGlassSlipper · 27/08/2007 16:10

OK. My sink isn't shiny yet but is empty

And my 2 goldfish have a new tank!

harleyd · 27/08/2007 16:20
