Cherry waves hello to November 2019. Fledgling Flylady thread for all.[smile]

Welcome to the November Flylady thread Fledglings! All are welcome here. A few of us have been around a while but everyone, newbie and lurking, is welcome to join in.

This is my first time running the thread so I hope other fledglings will alert me when I’ve got things confused or if I’ve left something out!! A busy month for us all with the holiday season looming next month…

Very simply Flylady is a zone-based cleaning system which we loosely follow. Everyone is different and has different rooms and life demands. There are five zones and at the beginning and the end of the month we usually straddle Zone 1 and zone 5.
(amend rooms to suit your house – I do the living and dining room together as it’s all one room in my house)
November
Zone 1 Hall, entrance/dining room (Fri 1 – Sat 2)
Zone 2 Kitchen (Sun 3- Sat 9)
Zone 3 Bathroom and another room (Sun 10- Sat 16)
Zone 4 Master bedroom/closet (Sun 17 – sat 23)
Zone 5 Living room (Sun 24 – Sat 30)

Pop onto the Flylady website to have a closer look but signing up for emails will probably lead to very many landing in your inbox. Also there has been some concern about securely downloading pdfs from the site. here

Flylady has an introductory scheme for newbies called Babysteps which is a light 31 day introduction to the system – dressing to shoes, shining your sink etc. What I like about Flylady is her emphasis on self care, her abhorrence of perfectionism and her adage that you’re never being behind in the system - just jump in. No need to completely clean your house before you start – phew! here

There is a morning routine and an evening routine to keep things ticking over and a weekly home cleaning hour to change bed sheets, mop, hoover, take out rubbish etc. The system isn’t brilliant for major decluttering so you might want to supplement with Kondo or another decluttering system. Flylady doesn’t want us cleaning all day so she is very keen on using a timer. Clean then stop!
In addition each day has a purpose: see the daily focus here

Monday: Weekly home cleaning hour (can be split into ten minute sections and spread over week) here
Tuesday: Plan and play (Menu planning, family event planning)
Wednesday: Anti-procrastination day
Thursday: Errand day
Friday: Clear out bags, fill car with petrol, date night
Saturday: Family fun
Sunday: Lift your spirit

Launch pad for guidance every day! launch pad

Habit of the month of November is meal planning. This is my Achilles heel! here

We have a lovely virtual naughty corner where we can all retreat – there are all manner of lovely things left there by thread members including fluffy pillows, warm blankets, tea, coffee, wine, delicious foods. This month there are plenty of candles to brighten the darker days.
There may be mention of Ned who started life as an autocorrection on the thread but who has now morphed into a virtual helper with a specialism in putting away laundry. Ned is borrowed by thread members from time to time when the going gets tough on Mount Washmore.
Most days we pop on to post our ta da list of what we’ve managed to do and have a bit of a natter.

Thanks guys.i don't think the friend would be overly bothered, but parents I'm not so certain of.they seem lovely but veneers sometimes and all that!
SC the crack den made me howl.i love teen humour!dd2 refers to ours as the hovel/bear pit or s*#£hole DEP on how mood takes her.when she's really cross can't find something in mess she has been known to call it the rat's nest(catagorically we do not have rats!!)

Popped out and some Halloween sweets may have leapt into the basket as reduced, along with bonfire toffee flavour mini rolls(think butterscotch flavour) we have demolished those with lunch as not lil zoo friendly (not that we needed excuses to be greedy)
Two loads wash done
I got half drowned wgen went light intermittent drizzle to deluge halfway to shop.grrr.hot shower and favourite cosy clothes on(I'd rather fancy pjs but as we have them drop lil zoo I felt should at least be in day clothes!!)

Not done much since I last posted tbh, this hour going back has really made the days drag a bit tbh! Looking forward to my takeaway coffee that DH picks up for me with DD's dinner before a night of TV watching.

Still no homework done though ...

Hello, I’m just sneaking in to bring back Ned... I have lurked on the thread, but can’t seem to follow routines yet. Hopefully something will click one day. But at least all the clean washing is now away.

Welcome to newbies& returners.🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫

Lost two posts yesterday so got fed up. Finding life hard at present and struggling to get stuff done. DH doesn’t do a lot which is what I suspected when at work. I don’t think he sees it.

He did help me sort through piles of random crap on the dining table today. Still wading through lots of school crap and need to take it in but can’t. Resorted a large shopping bag and got rid of more. I hate waste and lots is photocopied pages. Should I just ditch it all ? Keep one master but it would mean wasting packs I did for children then got pulled off it. I have lots of empty files now. Lots of poly pockets. All to go back.
I have a bad back now and neck.
I just want to get stuff out and I think maybe I could manage the rest. Bathroom is making me smile because apart from the day to day grim it is staying tidy.
Boudoir. Need to put clothes away. Last month I put two things away every time I went upstairs for a wee. That worked. I just hate putting them away because I know they won’t all fit in drawers. I have two chest of drawers and one small wardrobe.

My get up and go has got up and gone. I think the meds are part of the problem. I was on 5 mg now on 20mg and think I will need to increase it.
It is Bonfire night here I used to love taking the kids. I can’t be bothered going now.

Leaves 🍭🍬🍪🧁🥧🍩🍹🍸🥂🍷🍾🍫🍿🎂🍰🧁🍩🍪in naughty corner.

Thanks Ghoulette and i meant to say thank you for doing the thread. Thank you SC for October. I did put it on the lost threads then forgot today.

Second load of washing on and I put away a whole basket full because when I re read it I just sound pathetic. So I did one basket. The other one has bulky jumpers and stuff that wont fit in the drawers. I wish I had bought some vacuum packs and put away the summer clothes. We sometimes get mice in the attic so I am loathed to put stuff up there unless in those big plastic boxes I use for Christmas decs. We have bats too. They should be moving on but because it was warmer up here they are still flying about. I am never sure whether they move on or that we don't see them because they hibanate up there. I can't get in loft now I am old. You need to be fit.Grin

Good evening all! I hope your dd had a good trip to Bletchley Park Zoo.
I completely get worrying about being judged on your house but I honestly think everyone worries about being judged even those who live in show homes. I think the saying: "Those who matter don't mind and those that mind don't matter" whilst being rather twee is spot on!

Today has been reasonably productive: food shop done, ds4's birthday presents bought, friend met for coffee and dc taken to fireworks.

We have a house inspection by the letting agents on Monday so Im planning on doing Monday's home blessing a day early. I also need to do some planning after putting it off all half term 🙄 along with a run in the morning. It's going to be a busy one.

Hello all! Belatedly checking in here. Thanks so much for October SC and for doing November Ghoulette BrewWineCakeFlowers.

This time of year is always so busy with Halloween and DD1’s birthday. We have tomorrow and Monday left before back to school so I said to the girls we must have some kind of reset and reorganising. The house is not horrific (although obviously not great) but laundry is everywhere and their bedrooms are a bit of a mess. They both agreed Halloween Shock which must show they realise we need to tidy them!

Had some difficult news lately - not for ourselves but various issues with friends and family Sad. So all in all have been busy and preoccupied; work busy too. So have very much neglected flying and also exercise.

Have just enjoyed some time mindlessly faffing on my phone and now must go to bed ready to fly tomorrow Halloween Hmm.

Mercury, lovely to have you back. Welcome Beanbag Halloween Smile and Times Halloween Smile.

bower never consider yourself pathetic in flying nor life.tbings have been incredibly hard lately and you need to be kind to yourselfFlowers
Stressy sorry you had had tough news and hope clearing up/reset goes well

Lil zoo did indeed have a great time.she took £5 with her and spent £4 on a vegan sausage roll as there were lots unsuitable cakes in the cafe😱
She took a couple of photos on her phone,I'd expected more but to my surprise she said was having too much fun to take pics!!

DS doesn't not cope with the bangs if fireworks at all anymore(was never great with it) so a very stressful evening as two local(ish) displays could be heard on top of back garden stuff.heres hoping it doesn't play out til next Sunday or we will all be jibbering wrecks by then....

Feel a bit better this morning. I went to Mass on Friday and I think it just made it feel all consuming. I can't see the light at the end of the tunnel yet. Not even a chink except to resign. Union lady said don't make rash decisions. Told me to wait two weeks from last Tuesday.

Going to Mass soon. Tea and coffee afterwards. Then choir later on. Choir makes me feel better and we are now onto our Christmas programme singing things like Silver Bells, Holy Night etc. Lovely mix of religious and light work with some cheesy thrown in. Our MD loves a bit of cheesiness.

Not much flying today. I put away a few more clothes. DH is on kitchen duty. He is making Roast Chicken while I am at choir.

SC like the new name. Thanks for your kind words. Pity DH didn't take the guest with him. You deserve a big rest after this.I hope they at least wash up.

I've they keep to there end mostly but I can't physically get up there(grin) as the hatch is in the narrow hall and a ladder is too short so you climb it and then pull yourself up on the opening. I used to be slimmer and fitter. Although I can still fit in my wrists wont take the heaving up of my body weight. I like the bats better than the mice. it did put a few people off buying the house Grin which was good as they are protected and you are not allowed to get rid of them.

Just been shopping, Tesco was much busier than I'd expected it to be! Arms a bit achy again now, complete with decorative bruises (long sleeves this week I think!).

Pushing DD to finish homework before back at school and need to make a list as the next couple of weeks are a bit busy. Will have a coffee and some lunch before attacking anything else!

Joining in the desperate hope I can sort my hole of a house out.

Unfortunately had so much other crap to deal with this year the house/housework had been completely neglected and is now making me even more depressed.

I realised something needed to be done when I started getting back from the school run and my mood sank at the thought of walking through the front door. I know it’s sounds a bit dramatic but I’ve had enough of all the shit and clutter and no where to put stuff, not helped by a dh who won’t/can’t stop buying more shit/clutter and has a complete inability to put any of it away (but that’s a whole other thread)

Welcome justgivemewine, good to have you with us (and I love your username, we appear to be kindred souls!)

I feel I am constantly decluttering big time, but there again there is constantly stuff coming into the house so I shouldn't be as surprised as I am really.

DD ploughing through homework that she could have done any time in the last 10 days she's been off for half term like a champion so we can play on the Wii shortly. Whatever works, I'll use it as motivation Grin

Nice and sunny now, a lovely change from the last few rainy and windy days.

Hi everyone, just stumbled across this looking for inspiration to get the house back under control, can I join please?

Despite being a naturally messy person I hate clutter and disorganisation so I’m forever fighting a bit of a battle with myself! I did a big Marie kondo declutter a while back when my nesting kicked in in pregnancy, but now DD is 2.5 I can feel it all mounting up again and it’s making me itch. I work full time over 4 days and I’m finding it a bit of a struggle keeping on top of everything. DH isn’t bad and pull his weight, but he’s naturally messy too, without the dislike of living in mess that I have.

I’m feeling inspired reading the thread already. I’m lazing on the sofa with DD at the moment but I need to do some ironing and laundry, a quick tidy, and sort out bags, clothes and food for tomorrow. DH is doing dinner so I will also have to clean the disaster zone he’ll leave in the kitchen Hmm

Also ordered some bits for christmas after discovering i can use Klarna on H&M, decided dc5 having mainly clothes for Christmas as he wont even be 4 months and will have no clue. Hopefully other people buy him clothes or give vouchers as we still have all dc4s baby toys and even some from the older 3! Dreading a house full of duplicates!
