Good dishwasher tablets that aren't wrapped in plastic?

Does anyone know of some good dishwasher tablets that aren't wrapped in plastic?

I currently use Lidl's but am trying to cut down on my plastic usage. It really bugs me that they're individually wrapped in plastic when I've never even come across a broken one!

I think it might be that they’re horribly caustic and you’re not meant to touch them?
Are the ones where the wrapper dissolves any better?

I've gone back to powder for this reason. But it comes in a large plastic bottle...

I use fairy where the plastic dissolves , does the lidl tabs not do that? I think finish dissolves as well.

Sainsburys own brand powder comes in a cardboard box. I buy big boxes of washing powder now too

The plastic dissolves in the asda own brand ones too.

I had forgotten what we used before tablets but I have rediscovered it
It comes in a box so can be recycled, does a job as good as any other dishwasher cleaner, and no plastic waste

I don't think the plastic dissolves. I've always just unwrapped them . . . .

Do you put the powder in the same dispenser as the tablet then? Prob stupid question i know.

@just5morepeas there are ones where the plastic dissolves, but I hear you. It would be good to skip the production of plastic all together.

Lidl definitely do ones where the wrapper dissolves.

I use Finish powder, have a lot less rejects using powder instead of tablets.

But doesn’t the plastic just dissolve into micro bits of plastic that get into the food chain and our organs?
Genuine question, I just imagined that’s what happens, would b happy to hear different though.

Just checked the box because I was doubting myself and mine def have a non-disolvable wrapper. xD

Google tells me that the dissolvable plastic wrappers are made from polyvinyl alcohol which is soluble in water and is then biodegraded by bacteria in sweage plants.

Yes, ALDI have changed theirs recently and they now dissolve.

just bookmarking this thread - I could do with knowing too.

I find the ocado ones okay, they're in the dissolvable wrapper and in a cardboard box.

Asda ones are also okay, although they are in a plastic bag.

I recently bought some in Lidl that are in dissolvable wrappers. Box v similar to the non dissolvable one as I bought them thinking they were my usual pre wrapped ones. A happy mistake though and they are just as good

We use Aldi all in 1 tablets and they have no extra wrapping, they dissolve and work really well.

I buy Lidl ones which definitely have a dissolvable plastic film, no unwrapping. And in a cardboard box, even better!

I switched to Smol when the finish powder had the recipe changed and it simply became useless.
