Welcome to the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of wine, chat and mutual support along the way. Quite a few of us have been on here for a while, so for that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't, and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are very welcome!

Every day I will post a link to the activities for "Today" which summarises everything you need on a daily basis if you want to follow the system strictly, but we tend to adapt it to suit our individual circumstances, homes and energy-levels!

Please note that, athough Flylady is keen for us to check in to the website, we've recently had a few concerns wrt security, so although there is lots of useful info on the site, it's best not download it or put any of your personal details into the website for now.

More information on getting started available:
here (containing baby-steps!) but please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further qs.

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for starting a routine and overcoming the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - basic routine + more in depth tasks
-Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage).
You can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level.
-Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) let's be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's, and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't suit you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and lots of support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows ( but again, please note we advise only looking at the pdfs and not downloading them ):

** launch pad (general info) here

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home) here

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends) here

** info about zones (explanation of how zones work) here

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself) here

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task) here

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!) here

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Hi
Eventually get to naughty corner with zoo. Noticed she wasn’t about to. Read some of threads but couldn’t get on to post two days and just been very busy. Not with flying though very little in fact.

Have had sister here in April now niece so been taking them out. Been to other job for two weekends as we trying to push to finish the house. I’m mainly still just cooking though I do clean the bathrooms or vacuum. Did my floor this time. Feeling very tired I had plans last Wednesday for flying but I was so exhausted I slept loads and was just so lethargic. I am going to ask nurse( need asthma app. ) or GP for bloods to be checked.
Work is very stressful again. Routines changing constantly, people snipeing about people ( me) not being on duty. Mainly because a) I am following new routine and am not supposed to be out or b) I am teaching a different KS and therefore can’t be in two places at once. C) the Head called me to his office( because I think he realises I am one of the sane ones.)and I wasn’t even meant to be doing THAT job. I am rising above it and just getting on with stuff as much as I can. The three day week has helped.
The summerhouse saga. It is finished but they need to come back and paint it again as very streaky and uneven in parts. The neighbours have gone quiet apart from the happy bloody dogs. So we don’t know if they are any happier. I have bought loads of plants. The Range have three for £10 at the moment on perennials. I bought another clematisand then some sweet peas from a market yesterday. I will be spending Monday planting out. The summerhouse gets less sun because of position but we are now the required 2m from any boundary so they can’t do a bloody thing about it. We will have to redesign the garden as it is now plonked in the middle of the Centre back and not in the corner neatly.😤🤬 DH has said I can have another arch so we can grow things up it which is very kind of him because it requires work and it means he is being considerate as he recognises I am upset. We have some furniture from the house ready to go in it. Win win!

Washing done, kitchen and bathroom cleaned. Bedroom sorted for niece. DDs a tip. I am sleeping in it. She is going away by end of month to Australia. Still trying to spend time sorting school work. Years of notes will all be not needed if I stay as new curriculum. ICT is getting beyond me. Had training for once the other day but doubt if I will use new equipment unless pushed into it.

For the dairy free...Sainsbury have yoghurt in big tubs and pain au chocolate. Not as good as the real thing but acceptable. Yoghurt blueberry and raspberry and yummy. Found it in the middle of the milk yoghurts but none on the dairy free section. Might have been there for weeks and I didn’t know😤 I was buying some cow yoghurt for niece.

Getting up for early Mass. taking niece and DD to Printfest then to Dodd wood for a walk. My hip is bothering me so I will go and have a mooch about Mirehouse gardens and walk down to the little chapel and lake. Then tea and scone for niece just tea for us. Back home then take niece to bus replacement train for 3 hr journey to Edinburgh. Poor girl it was 1 hr 15m on train but of course it is Bank Holiday weekend in England so let’s make life awkward for travellers! Lovely to see her it has been 2 years. She is my favourite niece shh don’t tell the 4 others. Hopefully she will come again. She had never been to the Lakes and was wowed yesterday. We went to Keswick and caught the last launch around the lake.😃🥞🥞🥞🥞🥞🥞🥞🥞🥞🥞🥞leaving these for breakfast.

Welcome Barabara😁

Bowerbird5 · 05/05/2019 08:38

Kitchen😬

Kitchen is good. Just need to remove school crap and wash floor everything else lovely. Getting a new kitchen has made me keep it lovely and I get🤬about people who leave tea stains in my new shiny sink.

Cagliostro · 05/05/2019 09:21

Not caught up yet but shannara why won’t DD get PIP? That’s awful.

Tired as baby was feeding a lot overnight, I ended up on the sofa.

I got her some new shorts yesterday, she was so excited when I showed her them at bedtime that she insisted on wearing both pairs at once immediately :o I don’t think even DD1 was that into clothes so young :o

I am tired and achy. And hungry. I could eat a truckload of carbs while not rollerblading in white shorts!

IVEgottheDECAF · 05/05/2019 11:04

SC the thing with the maternity leave is just that if i go off three weeks earlier then my mat pay stops three weeks earlier at the other end, but tbh what is three weeks really. I dont know if i am going to go back to work. Certainly wont go back to current position as cannot stand it any more.

I think really i would be better going at 29 weeks or tbh i am risking going on sick anyway as the spd is getting worse. I am still sore as anything this morning and i havent left the house since friday morning so not like been over doing it! I could take mat leave in 6 weeks and have over a week of holidays left so could stick that on the end and technically start mat leave at 30 weeks.

Anyway

Ta da

Wash on x2
Washing on line
Dry washing sorted
All towels folded and away
Quick tidy of bathroom
Rounded up next load of washing

Shadycorner · 05/05/2019 16:12

Hey fledglings!

Good luck with your decision I've . Worsening SPD does not sound like much fun Flowers

Grin at Cagletini fashionista!

Great to "see" you Bower! Lovely to hear about your dsis and niece visit; they have certainly chosen the right time of the year for your beautiful part of the world! Glad that you have been able to finagle position of summerhouse but sorry it's ended up not where you really wanted it. Landscaping sounds good though and great that your dh is being considerate. No wonder you are tired if you are working two jobs! Is the second position voluntary? It sounds v demanding! Glad to hear the Head has your back at school though, and three days proving helpful, although still sounds stressful! Take it steady and waves to 🐔!

CBA with Flying today. Just put two small roast chickens on (enough for tomorrow and some sandwiches too). Put veg alongside to roast, so minimal effort required!

Emptied DW, went to Mass, bought bread, folded more bed linen and went on long dog walk. That's about it. DH in office working again. Dd went for run with a friend and is now deep in her books. We're about to watch Badminton I recorded earlier and critique everyone's cross country technique which is so easy from the safety of the sofa! Looking forward to a glass of Wine tonight. Cheers everyone!

Did a bit of shopping today, couldn't resist calling into the local charity shop (it's open on Sundays) and came home with another three cookbooks Blush They are cheaper than magazines, in my defence. Really must scan the recipes I use and pass some back as it's getting ridiculous!

Cagliostro · 05/05/2019 18:58

I built a kallax insert (glass shelf/door) today. We bought it when we bought the kallax so it’s been lying around since last summer. Also rearranged some of the other kallax to try and get our home ed stuff organised. Both works in progress, the idea is that the daily stuff gets put on the smaller shelves the night before so it’s all in one place and we don’t spend ages looking each day. Paper and pens can now be by the table too.

If you look in the reflection of the glass you can see the mess of the living room :o

Ta Da
Washing up and clothes done and put away. Shock
Mum and Dad visited this evening, weird time but was nice to see them.

Brain shutting down so need to stop reading and typing or start to feel dizzy and get auras.

Have a good evening everyone.

Lisette1940 · 05/05/2019 23:19

Goodnight everyone. Had a look at tomorrow's flight plan. Some tidying done today but doubled over with cramps so I slowed to a halt. Tomorrow is another day.

But I've tomorrow's dinner planned, ironing under control, breakfast ready to go. I'm in work tomorrow while DH takes Ds.

Bowerbird5 · 05/05/2019 23:37

Too!
Snappy dogs not happy. Auto correct!

Sc thanks SC. Had a lovely day with niece. Plans changed slightly. They weren’t ready so missed out printfest and I went back to Penrith as there was a knit and stitch show on. The girls went for three hours walk to the top and said views were amazing.

Washed up and sink shiny. Girls made beds.

Tired I fell asleep in Line of Duty🤭
Cags that looks good. Ahhh. Caglitini and the shorts.😀

Shannaswings and roundabouts re PIP.

I’vegirl at work with SPD she went on sick leave and I gather won’t be back as Maternity leave must be starting soon. Can you do that for three weeks? You and baby are more important than job.

Right off to sleep. I have a lot of catching up to do tomorrow.

Shadycorner · 05/05/2019 23:52

🌼 Hi all, May zones have finally been punished on site here which you may find useful.

🌼 Launch pad including Mon's flight plan here

I like Flylady's non-perfectionist message for tomorrow "anything you do today will be better than it was".

OP posts:
ChicCroissant · 06/05/2019 00:11

Awesome auto correct there, punish those zones Grin

Shadycorner · 06/05/2019 00:22

Ha Chic! Grin Sorry didn't spot that! Arf at whip cracking! Grin

Hope you feel better tomorrow Lisette

Love the shelving Cag Star

Hope migraine didn't develop Shannara

Great list and glad you got a lift to the shops Zoo

Hope you can take a bit of a break tomorrow Bower

Enjoy your bank holiday tomorrow everyone!

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 06/05/2019 07:19

Very much like the idea of punishing the zones!

Must place ikea order today. Site was under maintenance yesterday. Mostly kallax baskets and a desk for each Caglet. Can’t continue with the living room or our room without the baskets (the latter because we’ve accepted we can’t afford a wardrobe yet!).

No other plans today really. DD is at a friend’s.

Aah I see shannara I’d say it is maybe worth applying anyway but also I know PIP is much more difficult than DLA for things like autism.

Hope you can watch LOD on catch up before spoilers reach you bower!

Cagliostro · 06/05/2019 07:30

Just realised that when DH put her to bed last night (I was hiding upstairs watching LOD :o) she must have demanded that he put her socks - which she’d been delightedly growling at all day - back on over the top of her (footed) sleepsuit :o

May our houses be uncluttered ...the Fledgling Fly thread.
IVEgottheDECAF · 06/05/2019 08:26

Bower that is the other option but just know my name would be mud! Going to see how i get on this week i think.

Cag i was also trying to order on Ikea yesterday with no such look! A couple of small Kallax and some drawer inserts! The delivery costs piss me off though Shock

foxessocks · 06/05/2019 08:42

Those socks are cute cag! I want a pair!

We totally forgot to watch LOD Shock, we thought it was Saturday 🤦

I am struggling to finish my last week of couch to 5k Blush , I can run the 5k or just under anyway 4.99km was my best, but I haven't finished week 9 of the programme. I seem to have hit a wall (not literally! Grin) .

We are off to a friend's house today so will have to try and fit some of the home bleugh in where possible. Haven't actually got up yet though...

TooStressyTooMessy · 06/05/2019 09:26

Aww love the socks * Smile.

Ive BrewFlowersBrewFlowers

Your DD1 sounds amazing zoo.

Just catching up on the thread; SC, did they give you any post op advice for how much exercise you could / should do? Also thanks for links.

foxes, can you keep repeating the weeks until you can manage the last week?

Big waves to everyone and welcome Baber.

Back on it after a few days off. DDs had a dance thing which was lovely. I helped for a bit of it and got to be a very very small part of the very very backstage glamour SmileSmileSmile. I love it all and never got to experience it as a child so is fab to see it now.

However today... we are meant to be going out for the day. DDs tired (finally Grin) and grumpy and just want to stay in and make slime. I really cba. But must plough on. DD2 is ready, just need to prize DD1 out.

TooStressyTooMessy · 06/05/2019 09:27

Flying... not so much. Last night when I got in late (everyone else already in bed) instead of doing my usual quick rush around eating tea standing up while sorting stuff out but generally being unproductive I sat down and enjoyed my tea in front of the telly for 20 mins. It was bliss Smile.

Cagliostro · 06/05/2019 09:33

Asda socks :o

FFS no more luck with Ikea today, they keep extending the time the site is down for maintenance. Hmm

Still not really sure what we are doing today although might wander down into town and look in charity shops, need a shoe rack and don’t like the Ikea ones really.

Lou0390 · 06/05/2019 10:02

Thank you for this Smile

Shadycorner · 06/05/2019 13:12

Hi Lou0390 a warm welcome to the thread Smile

I'm very pleased to hear it Toostressy you deserve a bit of a wind down after a busy day at work. They did give me a post-op "exercise" schedule (and I am attending weekly physio) but not now I have been signed off. Perhaps I have been slacking too much and have seized up! Dance thing sounds lovely and enjoy the slime!

Ace socks Cag! Love the fact that Cagletini is growling at them! Grin

Barbara, how are you getting on?

Good luck with the running Foxes

Waves to I've and everyone else!

All I've done this morning is morning routines plus dog-walking and nattering with friend. Have "work" work to do, then need to get back to Flying!

ChicCroissant · 06/05/2019 13:33

Welcome Lou

I have been out, and eaten too much cake. Not feeling like lunch now, perhaps some salad

Need to do a bit of shopping to pick up some lunch bits for tomorrow. Busy week ahead so need to get as much sorted today as possible otherwise I will be surprised that it is Tuesday tomorrow (not Monday) and realise that I need to go out myself! Precious little zone punishing will be done here today, I suspect Grin

Catch you later!
