I have been ill, kids and dh have been ill, house is a shit pit! Dh has done loads of washing but not put it away and there is stuff everywhere!

Today is my day off (only pt) so today is the day I change the house from a hovel to a home. Posting here for accountability.

I have coffee and a new audio book and 6 hrs. Wish me luck, will update. #thrilling 😁

Bathrooms cleared (why dh chose to take his shoes off there, god only knows 😁). Disinfected the loos and sinks. Just about to tackle the floors and surfaces.

Bins emptied and clean towels located. 6!!!! empty loo rolls relocated to recycling box.

Me! First wash on - towels. About to fold washing from yesterday and then strip my bed.

What are you listening to? Radio 4 for me.

User5trillion · 19/11/2018 09:42

Floors done, found mop in a stinky bucket of water 😕 so did the floors on my hands and knees. Bathrooms done ✅
Next job - living room. Need to de- dog the sofa and rehome everything that has been abandoned here. Then hoover and dust next.

Listening to the complete guide to fasting, interesting. Thinking of some toast in a minute, misses point of book 😂
Love a bit of radio.4. Good luck

Towels out to dry - sheets in. Hall cleared and all the coats and shoes put away. Bins emptied and recycling sorted and ready for collection. Coffee next - coffee machine to descale first.

Well done on the audio book personally could not fast - in any shape or form!

PoisonousSmurf · 19/11/2018 10:06

Washing the bedding, cleaned the bathroom, emptied bins and vac downstairs (my own house).
Next I'm going to my Monday client and spending three hours cleaning her house.
Then doing seven more houses this week Grin

SuperDiaperBaby · 19/11/2018 10:18

Smurf well done, not sure I would have the energy for my own on top of 8 others.

Dishwasher emptied and surfaces wiped while waiting for the descaling to work. Leaving all the floor to the end. Living room next - rehoming is the biggest job in there. Then a quick dust.

mogloveseggs · 19/11/2018 10:20

Me!
Need motivation. Only day off this week.
Off to find a wash load first

User5trillion · 19/11/2018 10:48

Losing the will! Setting my timer for 30 mins to have a quick whip around. Going to dig out the club classics and play them loud! Washing machine is finished so going to strip bed. Good luck everyone

5trillion you are doing good. Gloves too cold here to go out anyway and wet so better to use the day off for cleaning I say. Still on the living room here.

mogloveseggs · 19/11/2018 11:05

Washer on
Banana muffins in oven
Straightening living room and dusting now whilst watching lord of the rings-bad choice, I’ll end up sitting watching Grin

thenewaveragebear1983 · 19/11/2018 11:10

Me, I’m on a mission today. First job though has been reseating round our double glazed windows with sealant as they are So draughty!! Not exactly housework. It’s a grim messy job so I’ve committed myself to 1 a day this week to get them done.

Going to have a coffee break, and then it’s housework time. First job is to go round and put everything away/outside relevant rooms.

SassitudeandSparkle · 19/11/2018 11:11

I'm doing 15 mins in each room, I shouldn't need a timer but it does make me focus!

User5trillion · 19/11/2018 11:48

Timer is done so having a quick coffee and enjoying the view of the tidy living room whilst ignoring the pile of crap at the door that needs rehoming. 😂

Next job, washing out and starting the family room, kids toys everywhere and coats, shoes and bags 😭

Just opened all the windows in the house to air out the house but its freezing here, so will only be a quick air!

OP posts:
SuperDiaperBaby · 19/11/2018 11:56

5trillion not brave enough for an airing here! averagebear that sounds seriously difficult.

Washing basket empty, washing on drying racks and living room done. Next wipe round the bathroom then walk down to post office with my letters that have sat for days. Going to wrap up warm for that.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 19/11/2018 12:58

Super it’s not difficult, just messy. I’ve done two windows now, and taped our bathroom window shut with duct tape (it’s old and knackered and so draught!)

Going to vacuum the stairs next, always makes the house feel tidied if the stairs are clean!

User5trillion · 19/11/2018 12:59

I have given up but bathrooms x3 done. Kitchen tidy and swept- mop still deskanking in disinfectant Blush and couldn't face doing the floor on my hands and knees. Bedding changed, living room spotless and no toys! Coats and bags put away. Toys shoved into one corner. Washing done and put away. Dog bedding in wash, so house smells better!

Will take ddog for a walk then school run.

Will tackle family room tonight but will persuade kids to help after school, they made the mess after all 😂

OP posts:
SuperDiaperBaby · 19/11/2018 13:06

averagebear hope that the house is warmer with that done. 5trillion good luck with getting your assistants on task later. Taking a short break here for lunch then tackling some more dusting downstairs.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 19/11/2018 14:41

I’ve given up too because I just had a call from our handyman who’s coming round imminently to put up two shelves in our lounge- cue brick dust and mess so absolutely no point in trying to clean any more!!

User5trillion · 19/11/2018 15:50

I am off this friday, shall we continue then?😂 well its not perfect but looking a lot better than it was! And pesky germs have been disinfected into oblivion. 😷

OP posts:
SuperDiaperBaby · 19/11/2018 16:20

Thanks everyone - dusting and floors done - still masses to do but SO MUCH better. Will try to find you all again on Friday.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 19/11/2018 16:46

I’m child free on Friday so I’m definitely up for continuing then, I’ve been rather lacklustre today. I actually love cleaning normally and am even considering setting up a cleaning business in the new year.

User5trillion · 23/11/2018 08:41

Where is everyone?.... it's friday!
So first job, make coffee and load dishwasher whilst waiting for kettle to boil. Then big job of the morning is the playroom, getting kids on board to tidy it was a limited success 😕 so the bin bag (recycling and charity boxes) are coming out and I am sorting, tidying and cleaning. I maybe some time!Grin

I have a new audio book and 6 hrs.

I’m here!!

Not so much housework today as ‘domestic admin’

  1. Change Ebay settings as the bastards keep auto relisting which is costing me 35p a time!
  2. Make 10 tubes of icing for pta event tomorrow.
  3. DIY jobs- repair a spot of plaster, sand 2 window ledges, paint patch in bathroom ceiling
  4. Perfunctory housework so it looks clean for the weekend.
  5. Squeeze in a run (hopefully a long one if time permits)

But first: coffee. Delicious coffee.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 23/11/2018 09:11
  1. Oh, and research laptops for dd Christmas as it’s BF
  2. Order solar powered Christmas lights
  3. Do banking transfers and budget as it’s payday
User5trillion · 23/11/2018 09:27

Good luck averagebear, that's a huge to do list!

I am at the place looks worse stage but kids desks and work areas are sorted. Considering washing the net curtains, just noticed they are grey when they should be white!

Need to rehome all the toys AGAIN! And put some coats and shoes back into bedrooms.

Right back to it. Good luck all
