Talk me through how you clean your loo

Seriously. I keep reading threads refering to hot water and gloves and I feel a bit ashamed. I squirt a bit of harpic and give it a once over with a toilet brush (which never struck me as the most hygienic way). For those of you who glove up, do you bin them afterwards? Wash them? For those who use hot water do you take s kettle up with you? Any other sparkly loo tips?

I use the disposable loo brush, think it's harpic? It's a plastic handle and you clip on a flushable brush with cleaner on it. Best thing I ever by!

*bought

abbsisspartacus · 02/09/2018 23:31

Bit of bleach brush everything spray and wipe everywhere flush and rinse the brush off

Regular cleans it's spray cleaning fluid brush and rinse

Toptrumploser · 02/09/2018 23:32

I give the outside parts a spray with bathroom cleaner then wipe with a rag or loo roll depending how organised I am.
Then squirt some bleach around the inside and brush with a toilet brush. Flush whilst holding the loo brush in the flow of flushing water.
Rinse the toilet brush in the bath with a bit more bleach.
Bin rag
Wash hands.

Toptrumploser · 02/09/2018 23:33

Hot water comes from the hot tap!

Cynderella · 02/09/2018 23:38

Every day or so: Spray with diluted vinegar. Wipe over and throw cloth in washing machine.

Every few days/week: Couple of steradent type tablets in bowl over night. Next day, gloves on! Wipe inside of bowl and under rim with washing up liquid and then salt. Spray with diluted vinegar. Leave. Then bit of a scrub. Wash over with hot soapy water and dry. Cloths in washing machine.

No bleach. None of us get ill. Nobody has died. It's all white.

firehousedog1 · 02/09/2018 23:39

A bit of a wipe over the outside with anti bac. If you use gloves just hang up out of reach after. Bit of bleach down the bowl and leave till the next flush.

NonJeNeRegretteRien · 02/09/2018 23:56

IF I was going to do a thorough job I would take all the water out the bowl first, then use a cleaning spray and scrub away...

If i’m doing a normal job I pretty much what you do!

inchoccyheaven · 02/09/2018 23:59

Multi purpose wipes for seat etc and then just chuck bleach round the inside and leave.

Cynderella · 03/09/2018 00:01

Ugh, I remember having to use cloths to get all of the water out of the loo before cleaning it when we moved in. And the scrubbing.

It's my number one reason for little and often.

gamerchick · 03/09/2018 00:03

Except you don't really flush it down the toilet do you? Everybody knows that stuff doesn't go down the toilet don't they?

But then apparently people dont know bleach doesn't clean so meh Grin

Cynderella · 03/09/2018 00:11

@gamerchick I don't think you can blame people for their trust in bleach when you consider how much is spent on advertising it.

It just gets worse because now everything has to be antibac, and we must use disposable wipes because cloths are what your granny used.

What does amaze me is how much people are prepared to spend on all this stuff.

vanillasky1001 · 03/09/2018 00:12

Wipes and Mr Muscle round non wet bits (ie outside, seat etc). Bleach down wet bit. Leave. Don’t scrub wet bit, mainly cos think loo brushes are rank and so I let obsessed DP do his daily scrub with them.

explodingid · 03/09/2018 00:20

Rinse the toilet brush in the bath with a bit more bleach.

Ew, now that's a step too far surely? Confused

mumprincess12 · 03/09/2018 00:21

But how does anyone do the seat and hinges etc? I never feel it's properly clean.

explodingid · 03/09/2018 00:24

I spray all over with dettol spray and then use a dettol/ bathroom wipe and I wipe everywhere on the toilet leaving the muckier places until last. I put toilet cleaner inside and scrub with a brush and then turn gloves inside out and store behind loo

Watchingthewheels1 · 03/09/2018 00:27

Where's op gone?

explodingid · 03/09/2018 00:34

Please not a poo troll. Confused

Praisebe · 03/09/2018 00:34

Use an old toothbrush with some bleach on to get round the hinges and gaps and then a domestos toilet wipe for the seat itself then i chuck a load of bleach down and give it good scrub about with the brush and leave it all to soak overnight then flush in the morning. I do this each night before we go to bed because the toilet gets pretty grotty under the waterline if i don't

ArcheryAnnie · 03/09/2018 00:38

Couple of steradent type tablets in bowl over night.

This is genius!

CherryCherryCherry · 03/09/2018 00:48

Supermarket equivalent of steradent tabs usu cheaper. I use these too. Extra long bathroom gloves on toilet spray and cloth wipe everywhere wet toilet wipes for hinges and handle etc. Limescale remover. Leave for 5 minutes. Then flush. Then use dry cloth to dry wet parts. Wash gloves with handwash. When dry roll up and put behind toilet. Handwash cloths and peg out to dripdry. I don't use brushes think they are disgusting harbourers of germs.

I have colour coded clothes. disposable gloves. Disposable jay cloths and gloves (white and blue ones) for the loo, pink for the sink and bath, (green and white for the kitchen)

i douse my loo in bleach every night (in and out)...close the lid, spray the sink and bath/shower scrub them with the lime and pomegranate Dettol 9pink bottle £4 Asda) rinse, brush my teeth, wash my face.
put on the disposable gloves scrub the toilet outside first then inside, flush, bin my cloth and gloves. use the bendy neck toilet duck and close the lid.....ahhhh sleepy time,
cleaning the loo is my best job it means bed time! i also give the loo a squirt the duck at various points of the day!
