So I am looking for an all in one bin unit, it can’t be integrated and this is the only one I’ve been able to find

bin [[https://www.johnlewis.com/joseph-joseph-intelligent-waste-separation-recycling-totem-bin-60l/blue-grey/p1897300]]

But it’s £200!!!!!!!!!! It is lovely but I feel shocked at the price. Any altertenatives to recommend please?

I don’t like it so I wouldn’t pay £200 for it, but if it’s exactly what you’ve been looking for then £200 would be fine.

YeTalkShiteHen · 09/08/2018 19:12

I’m the opposite, I DID like it but I’ll be fucked if I’m spending £200 on a bin!

RagamuffinCat · 09/08/2018 19:12

It's expensive, but I must admit, I do love it. No help at all, sorry!

Nanodust · 09/08/2018 19:29

It is what I’ve been looking for a I haven’t been able to find a suitable alternative anywhere. Visited Lewis’ today and it looks lovely in real life. How can I be in love with a bin.......!!!?

There are near identical versions sold by Amazon for a lot less. Don't have a link because I only know from a previous thread about this bin - I would have one if I could fit it somewhere.

Nanodust · 09/08/2018 21:09

Ooh- if you have a link can you share please? I have searched amazon and wasn’t able to find a dupe. Thank you.

£199 costs you 54.5p a day for a year, then it's paid for! Buy it!!

Here is an example of Amazon cheaper version - first one I could find but should help you find various others on there.

We bought the same one about 5 years ago but in a different colour. It matched our units perfectly so decided to splurge- it was a beige/grey one.

It has slightly rusted under the edge of the lid. It came with a 10 year guarantee but we haven’t been bothered enough to look into whether or not we could claim. You can’t see the rust unless

We had a slight discount at the time but I would buy it again. It makes me happy Grin.

We have had compliments on it too and are selling our flat now. Some viewers were impressed how the bin was made to match the units!

Sadly it took us far too long to realise that you don’t need specific Joseph Joseph bags. This helps keep the cost down!!

For the sake of an extra £120 or so, I’d say buy it if you can comfortably afford it and particularly want that colour.

If you prefer chrome, get the cheaper one!

Griffalo123 · 09/08/2018 23:12

Sorry about half finished sentence - it’s late and my contacts are starting to fuse with my eyelids.

You can’t see the rust unless you take the lid off and turn I upside down...

Longest bin post ever.

Nanodust · 10/08/2018 07:46

Thank you for link homeofmyown and your great review griffalo! It’s the beige one that we are wanting. It’s a bit cheaper at Argos just now.....

I've got that one - bought on Amazon Prime Day for £110 rather than the £190 John Lewis wanted. It's still a nonsense amount for a bin but it's made a huge difference to the kitchen and I'm really pleased with it.....

TerfsUp · 10/08/2018 07:52

I've added the Amazon bin to my wish list.

EvaHarknessRose · 10/08/2018 07:55

Just think, am I going to laugh at myself in two years time for getting it, when I’m trying to scrape the money for Christmas, or cringe when I realise our friends and family have gone home and googled the price? If not, get one.

We have a fab big pull put drawer which accommodates three large plastic (ikea) bins (no lids) and the dishwasher tablets etc. I love that you don’t have to lift each lid and there’s no smells from it even though one of them is food waste.

HardAsSnails · 14/08/2018 18:29

I've got the JJ one and it is lovely (for a bin!). It fits neatly in our back porch and makes it easy (for us) to keep on top of recycling and food waste.
