Any recommendations? Black marks and old water in the rubber rim which I’ll clean with paper towel but the drum smells musty. Detol any good? Anything else before I go shopping?

Soda crystals on a 90 degree wash.

Ditto soda crystals. If you're in a hard water area bung them in every wash too.

AnneLovesGilbert · 01/07/2018 15:44

Thank you both. I have some somewhere! In the drum or the drawe? A cup full?

I always put everything straight in the drum, yes I think a cupful!

Alternatively you could put in vinegar on a 90 degree wash. A washing machine engineer once advised me to put a whole bottle in once a month.

Thank you! Smile

I use vinegar to do the kettle once a month. Water here is very scaley so it’s a constant battle.

Sorry to keep asking but would you use vinegar and soda crystals at the same time or only one?

Soda crystals are very alkaline and vinegar is acidic so they'd cancel each other out if you used them together.
