What is your cleaning routine? :)

So I actually really enjoy cleaning Hmm so I tend to do jobs whenever they need doing really or do it when I’m bored. I’m trying to come up with a set routine though.

Normally, I do the dishes after every meal so it doesn’t pile up. Always wiping down kitchen surfaces. Sweep and mop kitchen floor everyday. Quick hoover in living room, hoover upstairs every 2 or 3 days. Clean toilet everyday. And normally do one load of washing a day or every other day. What about you? Smile

I randomly spray furniture polish into the air and am still wearing my old clothes when OH gets in from work. having really watched trash telly programmes all day

bellsbuss · 20/03/2018 17:30

I don't work , 3 eldest children at school/ local uni . Youngest has 2 hour nap so will spend an hour every day cleaning in the day and prob another hour in the eve when the 2 youngest are in bed. Big clean I start on a Thursday night , fridge, kitchen and wiping down downstairs and then finish off the next day which will take me prob 4 hours. Eldest doesn't have lectures on a Friday so she will take youngest out for 2 hours then he will nap for 2. I had flu before Christmas and was in bed for 3 days and the house went to rack and ruin.

Laucu · 20/03/2018 18:36

Oh and I am constantly tidying Confused

Pseudousername · 20/03/2018 18:51

Eff me it would seem that we live in absolute filth.

Cleaners come once a FORTNIGHT.

We'll whip the cordless round the living room if it's looking particularly Cheerioed, quick wipe down in the kitchen after cooking, wipe up any obvious grime......

Viviennemary · 20/03/2018 18:53

Look round and think thank goodness the cleaner is coming tomorrow. If not do a little bit myself or tell DH to do some tidying.

Viviennemary · 20/03/2018 18:54

Faints at the amount some folk do. Must try harder.

Justwanttoweeinpeace · 20/03/2018 18:57

Once a week: panic tidy and put money out for cleaner.

Occasionally: panic that cleaner might quit

Bluesheep8 · 20/03/2018 19:04

Surely some of the people doing all this cleaning cannot possibly work full time 🤔I'm thinking that the houses of those of us who work full time maybe don't get as dirty as we're out of them all day!

princesspeppax · 20/03/2018 19:15

Everyday:
Washing
Hoovering
Quick clean of bathroom
Cleaning kitchen work tops
Dusting
Clean floors

Every 2 days:
Cat litter tray

Weekly:
Clean fridge
Deep clean bathroom
Change bedsheets
Clean all kitchen cupboards
Clean skirtings
Clean doors

Cellardoor23 · 20/03/2018 19:19

Everyday
Hoover
Mop floors
Put 1-2 loads of washing on/dry and put away
Clean bathroom
Wipe kitchen surfaces/clean dishes

FWIW I probably wouldn't do most of the above as frequently as I do, but I have a messy toddler.

Once a week
Wash bed linen
Dust
Clean microwave

Every 2-4 weeks
Wash sofa covers
Clean windows
Wipe down fridge
Go through food cupboards/quick wipe if needed.

Most of the day to day jobs don't take up a lot of my time as it's only a small two bed flat. (Excluding washing clothes/bed linen/sofa covers) It probably takes me about an hour max.

I wish I could afford a cleaner Grin

FairiesVsPixies · 20/03/2018 19:25

What's with the cleaning of the doors/handles?

I don't think I've ever cleaned a door Grin

Cellardoor23 · 20/03/2018 19:32

Just realised I probably don't do as much washing as that. Occasionally it's been about one to two loads depending if I need to wash bed linen, towels or other bulky items etc, but in reality, it's probably about one wash every couple of days.

Makingworkwork · 20/03/2018 19:35

Leave money for the cleaner.
DH does laundry.
I have a quick tidy up every night and wash down the benches.

blueskyinmarch · 20/03/2018 19:35

My routine is as follows.:

Do as little as possible.

Survives.

Myownwendyhouse · 20/03/2018 19:36

Everyday
Give the bathrooms a quick wipe
Make the beds
Wipe kitchen tops after food
Dishwasher
Load of laundry
Fold laundry
Tidy all rooms in the house.

Monday - clean kitchen and food shop and make dinners and cakes for the week
Tuesday - dust the entire house
Weds - hoover the house
Thursday - clean the bathrooms.
Friday and Sat - nothing
Sunday - strip beds and iron of needed. I don't iron much

Been doing this for a few months now. Been working well and my house is always clean

ArizonaLeone · 20/03/2018 19:37

Monday: kitchen, lounge, front room

Tuesday: bedroom, bathroom

Wednesday: ironing

Thursday: kitchen, lounge, front room

Friday: bedroom, bathroom, spare room, hall, lounge

Saturday: ironing

Sunday: OFF!

My partner and I split this up between us and because we do it regularly it takes about 20/30 mins a day. Things like cleaning windows and metal fittings get done as and when...

user1483390742 · 20/03/2018 19:38

Cleaning routine?? Lost in translation..i have no idea what you mean! Grin

Flomy · 20/03/2018 19:40

Monday: Work/School/Cry
Tues: Work/School/Cry
Wed: Work/School/Cry
Thurs: Work/School/Cry
Fri: Work/School/Cry
Saturday: Ballet/Clean/Cry
Sun: Sort uniforms for Work & School.

TwigTheWonderKid · 20/03/2018 19:46

Sorry, can't get past the daily carpet cleaning...

whatthefuckingfuck · 20/03/2018 19:56

You clean your carpet every day? As in every single day of the week? I have 8 dogs and 5 cats in my house and even I don't do that.

Everyday
Shake out dog beds
Hoover the whole house & mop the floors
Wipe down kitchen sides & cupboards (dogs muddy paws)
Spray febreeze around
Put one or 2 washes on
Squirt bleach down the loo at night and quickly scrub it the next morning
I really don't have the time to do more than that.

Weekly
I'll completely empty the cat litter trays and clean them once a week (obviously get scooped out daily)
Clean the bathroom
Wash bedding
Wash all animal blankets
Dust

Everything else is as and when. I'd love to be able to afford a cleaner!

BrownTurkey · 20/03/2018 20:11

Whizz round half the house once a week, with hoover and cleaning stuff, if I have time. Kitchen tidied wiped down and swept twice a day.

DeltaG · 20/03/2018 20:16

We've got a Roomba and it's great for everyday vacuuming; just press and off it goes!

I can't believe the amount of cleaning some people do! Either you're really dirty or wasting your time....
