What is your cleaning routine? :)

So I actually really enjoy cleaning Hmm so I tend to do jobs whenever they need doing really or do it when I’m bored. I’m trying to come up with a set routine though.

Normally, I do the dishes after every meal so it doesn’t pile up. Always wiping down kitchen surfaces. Sweep and mop kitchen floor everyday. Quick hoover in living room, hoover upstairs every 2 or 3 days. Clean toilet everyday. And normally do one load of washing a day or every other day. What about you? Smile

Cleaning a carpet every day? Huh?
I’m sorry but that is a waste of valuable living time. I cannot believe what some believe is routine.

Everyday;
Clean kitchen after use (x1/x2 per day weekdays more at amend) - wipe sides down / throw away rubbish & recycling / empty dishwasher / clean out sink

Put wash on / dry washing / fold washing

Clean sinks & loos / tidy bathroom floors

Move debris from around house and put on stairs (so people can ignore it until I shout about it)

Tidy up shoes / bags / coats that have been thrown at their designated areas but never actually put away. Seems I'm the only one who falls over things and is bothered

Hoover downstairs

1/2 per week;
Dust
Cobweb dusting
Clean any smeared windows or mirrors
Tops of skirting boards
Upstairs Hoover
Brush down patio / tidy garden
Wash bedding and towels
Put washing away

One day I will get a cleaner and I will appreciate it so much...

Sorry @princesspxx I have to ask - what happens in your house that your carpet needs to be washed every day?

Anyone coming into my house leaves their shoes in the hall and I hoover once a week and the carpet looks fine. The only time I wash the carpet is for spillages and that's only the affected area...

thinkofablinkingnamewoman · 21/03/2018 10:44

Wow I am clearly a total slob.

Cleaner coming today for the first time and I am very excited. I'm using an agency and had (for me) a bizarre conversation with the owner when she came to quote. She gave me a long list of what they'd do - and suggested some of it might be ok done fortnightly. Fortnightly? I don't think I've ever done some of it - wash door panels etc.

I'm expecting my house to look 10 years younger tonight. If so I'm going to get them to clean me next Smile

In my head it’s very similar to what Edinburghlass wrote.

In reality thoughHmm stress has been a slippery slope for a couple of years so it’s more like - Ugh, I really should vacuum today.

princesspxx · 21/03/2018 13:11

@purplelass It wasn’t me who said I wash my carpets everyday! I’m not that crazy lol x

I'm aghast at some of these posts!! I absolutely loathe cleaning and DH is the same.

We have a cleaner once a week who does kitchen & bathrooms deep clean, hoover & mop floors (no carpet, far too much hassle), all adult laundry, wiping and dusting, tidying etc

Other than that we keep on top of the washing up, wipe surfaces, high chair & around, nappies and baby washing. If someone's coming over, I might tidy up a bit. Otherwise, bugger it. Hoover every day?! Life's too short, people. If you add up all those hours, how much of your life are you spending with a Dyson for company?!?

purplelass · 21/03/2018 13:51

Oops! Sorry @princesspxx - I'm easily confused Grin

So, Edinburghlass1991 - what happens in your house that your carpet needs to be washed every day?

Thinkingofausername1 · 21/03/2018 14:49

I'm guessing most people who have a cleaner, both work? If not, how can you afford a cleaner or do you do without something else? Wink

strawberry1122 · 21/03/2018 14:54

Kitchen and bathroom are my priorities. I give them each a wipe over daily + bleach both loos. I then deep clean bathroom and kitchen each once a week. I then hoover through the house twice a week (monday and friday). Strip the beds on a sunday. Anything on top of that is a bonus. I try not to find myself doing chores over the weekend. Thats family time in my book.

Edinburghlass1991 · 21/03/2018 15:33

Without me sounding even more crazy I clean as it helps me feel in control . when iam happy I clean less that's why I clean the carpet

Brakebackcyclebot · 21/03/2018 15:45

My goodness.

I don't do all the cleaning myself. I get my DCs to do a chore each every day and cook once a week each, linked to pocket money. Cleaning is not MY job alone.

Bathrooms and loos get cleaned by one of us once a week. Lounge hoovered and dusted once a week. Stairs and landing hoovered once a week. Kitchen wiped every day after cooking. Today I hoovered and mopped the kitchen floor, thinking that I won't need to do it again for another week.

I last wiped out my fridge about 6 months ago after some fish leaked out of packet. I cleaned the oven about a year ago.

No-one has died.

Constant- tidying and picking stuff up

Every day;

  • wipe around bathroom sink, fold towels
-wipe kitchen down after cooking and eating -hoover living room -load of washing on and dried -sweep kitchen floor

Every other day;
-mop kitchen and bathroom floor

Weekly;
-clean bedrooms. So strip beds, wipe down surfaces, paintwork and doors, hoover
-clean bathroom
-clean living room
-clean playroom
-clean kitchen, clean out the fridge
-iron and put all washing away

Every month/6 weeks;
-move sofas and hoover underneath
-wipe down inside cupboards
-clean windows
