Morning

I am not dressed yet and my sink has stuff in it

I am going to out both of those things now if DD will let me.

I have put the next few days on this thread as I am off to my brothers house and don't know when I will be back online, but here is day 4

OK - I am dressed to my Crocs, and the sink is underway

Morning Norma.

My weekend hasnt started well so I've packed DH and DD1 off to the supermarket and I'm having a snuggly time now with DD2.

babysteps today are ticky, huh? Keep at it though as it all starts to sink in...

Have a nice weekend.

theheadgirl · 05/05/2007 09:17

The sink is done, and I am off to get dressed in a bit - not too stressed about that, its the weekend!
Have a good time away Norma

NormaStanleyFletcher · 05/05/2007 09:51

Well project sink is completed.
Good morning Glassslipper and theHeadgirl.
I am really looking forward to seeing my bro and his family this afternoon. They have just moved back from the states and now live quite close to us. This is the first of out cocktail nights, which will hopefully become a fairly regular thing.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 05/05/2007 09:51

Oh and I hope you had a good birthday!

OP posts:
glassslipper · 05/05/2007 09:54

i promise to learn to spell over the weekend

will clean sink later too

theheadgirl · 05/05/2007 10:00

Thank you. I'm feeling old this morning. I'm now dressed, but ...i'm old! Today calls for full make up

Chirpygirl · 05/05/2007 10:33

Hmm, came down this morning to a sink with a bowl full of washing up in and a drainer piled high...I was exhausted last night and forgot

It is clear now though and all shiny, (I have started using a sponge cloth as it absorbs all the water and shines it and I am not constantly soaking a towel) and I am dressed! I don't like this to the shoes thing though as I hate wearing them. I do wear flip flop type sandals if I need to put shoes on but it is too hot and my toes need freedom!

Have fun at your brothers, norma!

purpleturtle · 05/05/2007 10:35

I've not been dressed long either, but my sink shines, I've swiped the bathroom (but it needs a LOT more!) and I've a load in the machine. Now off to hang the nappies I just took out of it.

I am amazed how motivating I'm finding these little steps. Last night I actually tackled the huge box of bills, instructions, and other assorted papers that's been accumulating in our bedroom for months. I quite enjoy filing, but had been putting it off because it seemed such a huge task. But it's done now .

Dd has requested we go for a walk this afternoon, so I hope it stays dry. Think we'll head just out into the Peak District.

Have a good weekend!

glassslipper · 05/05/2007 16:21

I've cleaned my bathroom and DH is mowing the lawn

sorkycake · 05/05/2007 17:38

Well we're chillin' today
We normally spend most of the day at the allotment, but bub is 12 weeks and hit his growth spurt I think as he fed every hour last night and I'm exhausted. So we haven't done too much today.
Plus, I've been fixed to any news updates of the poor little girl who's missing in Portugal. Somehow cleaning my sink seems irrelevant

It is clean though.
I don't get the writing things down, can someone explain that bit? I have reluctantly signed up to the daily digest emails

purpleturtle · 05/05/2007 19:26

Flylady has a 'control journal' which is a terrible name IMO for something that might actually be quite useful. You're supposed to write all your routines down in it, so that (I guess) you don't have to try and hold in your head, "What am I supposed to do today?", but you can look in your folder.

Apparently, post-it notes on the bathroom mirror are the first step towards the journal.

Can't say I'm terribly convinced by that - I think it'll just convince any visitors we have that I need to be sectioned.

glassslipper · 05/05/2007 19:44

I never bothered with a control journal but i do have a list of tasks for each room and i just work through them as and when. Often get left though!

sorkycake - agree about the missing girl story. I spent a lot of time this morning looking at the news and MN (seeing threads degenerate) and then decided I had to go away and do something else. I have a DD who is 3 and you cant help thinking 'what if we were in that situation?' Truly awful.

funnypeculiar · 05/05/2007 19:50

Sink shiny ... and rest of house tidy post-IL visit (thanks for the link Norma!). Going to do virtuous paperwork tonight too

Really don't think I face a post-it note on my mirror saying -get dressed & shine your sink though (esp given that I already don't do the shoes think - although I have replaced it with remembering to put in perfume...)

Day 5

and this bit
'Are you hearing any of those nagging negative voices popping into your head? I want you to take a piece of paper and write down what you hear then I want you to turn those ugly words around and say something nice to yourself to negate the ugly words that they said.'

makes me giggle, only because I have a killer headache and all my head is saying is 'ooooow, give me drugs! Now! forget being pregnant, we want DRUUUUUUUUGGS!'

BUT sink is shining and am dressed to (slip on) shoes. Haven't posted reminders yet, as there isn't too much to remember....

glassslipper · 06/05/2007 13:53

Lol @ CG. It gets better when you are through the babysteps.

I 'fessed to DH today that I was back on the FLYlady circuit and he said 'ah, now i understand'. Apparently I've been obsessively picking up glasses that have been left out and putting them in the dishwasher before he gets the chance to put them in the sink so it must already be making my house tidier

theheadgirl · 06/05/2007 13:54

I know what you mean CG - the pyscho babble bit is not for me. But I too am dressed (eventually) and the sink is done and the laundry is in.
Stick with it gals, day 6 looks a little more practical

NormaStanleyFletcher · 06/05/2007 14:19

I am back home

Thanks for doing the link CG.

Cocktails last night were fab. I went to sleep at some point and apparently wouldn't be woken up . We can't work out who put the kids to bed (apart from the two littlies) and so have concluded that they gave up and put themselves to bed

Bro and SIL headed out for the day to see one of their friends, and so I shined her sink and cleaned her kitchen before we left. DH hoovered their hall, stairs and 2 landings. I now feel quite smug.

It was nice to come home to a shiny sink, but I forgot to put the dishwasher on before we left.
RIght - essay over - I am off to the supermarket!

funnypeculiar · 06/05/2007 21:45

welcome home norma

Sink still shiny ... and washed car with ds today too!

NormaStanleyFletcher · 07/05/2007 10:33

OK - am up and the sink was shining (actually I have been up since 7)
On to day 5 of babysteps

What do you do if your whole house feels like one big hot spot?

OP posts:
glassslipper · 07/05/2007 10:36

Morning. i have a shiny sink too and have spent 2 mins clearing my dressing table.

norma, do one bit at a time. point of fly is that it took ages for youse to get messy so it will take time to clear it. hence babysteps.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 07/05/2007 11:33

RIght - I am going to do the chair where all the clothes get dumped when they come in from the line!

OP posts:
Chirpygirl · 07/05/2007 12:55

Well, I slipped yesterday as I had killer headache but I feel better today so shined sink this morning, have put on 2 loads of washing but can't dry it!

Now I have to shoose a hot Spot out of
Dining Table - post/rubbish/DH's wine bottles
Sofa in bedroom - covered in clothes
or Back hallway - full of stuff to take upstairs and sort

Shall make a decision once DD is asleep!

Chirpygirl · 07/05/2007 12:55

choose, even
