What do you do with clothes 'in between wears'?!

Pumpkintopf · 03/03/2018 18:57

For example- when I get home from work I change into eg jeans and jumper which I might wear for a couple of days as only worn for a short time after work.

In the past I've 'stored' these on a chair in the bathroom but am renovating bathroom so want it to look clear and tidy - have also recently renovated bedroom so don't want a chair of clothes in there really either!

Any bright ideas?! Thanks

Mine live on the wardrobe floor so I can shut the door on them. Then I forget that they’re there until I wear something else and come to put it on the wardrobe floor...

Zippyboo2 · 03/03/2018 18:59

I have a shelf in a cupboard I intend to put things on....however they end up on the chair... argh

On a chair behind a door in the bedroom, the pile of clothes might sometimes grow out of proportion. I never hang them up properly.

esk1mo · 03/03/2018 19:04

i put them back where they belong, drawer, cupboard or wardrobe

swapsicles · 03/03/2018 19:05

I've got an overdoor hook on my wardrobe door for clothes like that but I also have a row of hooks on the back of my door where I keep cardis/hoodys that don't need washing often but I wear most days for a few hours and don't get dirty easily

Ilovecakeallday · 03/03/2018 19:08

On the spare room bed.

CremeEggThief · 03/03/2018 19:08

Neatly over the back of the chair in the corner, or on hooks on the back of my bedroom door.

acornsandnuts · 03/03/2018 19:09

Floordrobe mostly. I’m a bit of a teenager even though I’m over forty.

We've got over the door hooks everywhere so that's where they go to be forgotten until thrown in the laundry bag

Vitalogy · 03/03/2018 19:12

I have a chair in the bedroom.

Jeffjefftyjeff · 03/03/2018 19:12

I have a pretty wooden room divider type screen that is folded (so the screens are quite close together in a zig zag) in a corner of the bedroom. Scarves and clothes between wears get draped on that.

JustPutSomeGlitterOnIt · 03/03/2018 19:13

I just put them back in the drawer, and remember what's had a few wears next time.

(Am slightly WTAF that you change into jeans after work Sad)

"the Chair"

tellybear · 03/03/2018 19:16

On the floor in my bedroom.
This thread is inspiring me.

Pumpkintopf · 03/03/2018 19:18

@JustPutSomeGlitterOnIt I tend to wear smallish heels for work but consequently my work trousers are slightly too long to schlep around in slippers ( or crocs Blush) which are my preferred footwear when home hence jeans/trackie bottoms for comfort Smile

Overdoor hooks sound like a good idea! I could put some on the back of the wardrobe doors in the bedroom. Thanks all!

Lol at Ytho - We've got over the door hooks everywhere so that's where they go to be forgotten until thrown in the laundry bag- yeah that's what happens to my ever growing pile of stuff on 'the chair' at the moment Blush

I put them on my dressing table stool if I'm wearing the next day. If not they go back in the wardrobe. I dont work so spend a lot of time at home so no one around to see that I'm wearing the same clothes the next day. So I tend to wear my tops etc for a few days and then wash them.

JustPutSomeGlitterOnIt · 03/03/2018 19:59

pumpkin Oh TOTES get the trackies! Trackies all the way, it was the jeans I thoroughly objected to GrinGrin

MaryPoppinsStoleMyHandbag · 03/03/2018 20:01

I put them back where they belong - either hung in the wardrobe or folded in drawer.

WhiskeySourpuss · 03/03/2018 20:19

Blazers & cardis have a separate section of the wardrobe & get hung up but everything else goes in the laundry basket

thenewaveragebear1983 · 03/03/2018 22:16

We have a wooden towel rail painted in the colour of our bedroom where we hang worn once clothes, pj’s, and sometimes the extra bed throw/blanket. If things are really clean/hardly used then I put them away.

I’m trying to reduce our washing mountain, so while it’s cold and my t shirts and vests are all worn under jumpers all day, I have adopted a strategy where I wear them one day, then one night, then to run in, before washing. (I appreciate half of mumsnet will be applauding my eco-savvy credentials, and the other half will be clutching their pearls at my slovenly ways....!)

Pumpkintopf · 03/03/2018 23:18

Justputsomeglitter yeah realistically it's trackies Grin

Thenewaveragebear sounds very sensible and I like the painted towel rail idea

Those of you who put stuff away don't you forget which things have been worn?

Same. Well, more accurately they go on the chair, which is my minor progression from the floordrobe
I need a system because I can't stand putting half worn things back in the wardrobe.

Speedy85 · 03/03/2018 23:25

We have one of these rails on the back of the bedroom door.

It was a little bigger than I imagined but it’s really handy. Most of the time we have bedroom door propped open so it is out of the way too.
