A good vacuum cleaner

bevelino · 03/03/2018 14:27

Please could someone recommend a really good vacuum cleaner for hard floors and carpet. I have had 3 Dysons in the past and they all lose suction after a while. It doesn’t matter if it is upright or cylinder. Thanks

I'd recommend a miele, I've the cat and dog one with the turbo brush, they last forever. In fact my DH is vacuuming away while I'm mumsnetting Grin.
I've had an expensive dyson and a sebo, neither were as good.

GrumpyOldBagFace · 03/03/2018 15:55

Miele cat & dog here too!

teaiseverything · 03/03/2018 15:57

After trawling threads on here, we got this one a few weeks ago www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B06Y2GCSCC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?psc=1&tag=mumsnetforum-21&ie=UTF8

OP, it is hands down one of the best things to ever happen in my entire life Grin

slumps off to be a loser

Like Tea, and seriously pissed off with my Dyson Animal cordless, I recently bought a Shark after reading recommendations here.

It's incredible.

It is so enthusiastic to de-filth my carpets, it races off dragging me behind it.

It has HEADLIGHTS. Headlights, I tell thee!!!

I have never been a more committed hooverer. And I'm usually an absolute slattern housework-wise.

teaiseverything · 03/03/2018 16:06

@MercianQueen I also wasn't used to being dragged and was swiftly carried towards my bookcase, hoovering up the fairy lights that hung around it Grin I've also hoovered up socks from the clothes horse.

The headlights, I'm telling ya, the stuff of dreams. The easily removable hand-held nozzle? Oh my.

MustRememberTheLInFingerling · 03/03/2018 16:08

After years of Dyson loyalty we got a Shark Liftaway earlier this year and I love it!!

MustRememberTheLInFingerling · 03/03/2018 16:09

Which is the one mercian and tea are raving about Grin

teaiseverything · 03/03/2018 16:16

I honestly hoover for fun since getting it.....

glasshalfsomething · 03/03/2018 16:21

My Shark Liftaway has probably saved me an hour each week compared to the Dyson it replaced. One run over rather than the repeated pushing the Dyson needed. Love it.

Theworldisfullofidiots · 03/03/2018 16:25

Miele.
I have a Dyson currently and would never buy one again, the suction is not good.

MercianQueen · 03/03/2018 16:25

My carpet is actually a different colour...
I'd post pictures if it wasn't for the abject shame...

MustRememberTheLInFingerling · 03/03/2018 16:32

I hoovered under my bed today just because I can Grin You lift the ‘guts’ but off and the headlights let you see the several years worth of dustbunnies Blush

floculated · 03/03/2018 16:36

Not cordless and anything with a bag is miles better than a bagless imo because the cyclone thingy stops working properly after it collects a surprisingly small amount of dust and the rest gets blown into the expensive filter. My big Karcher is great.

StickyPokeyThing · 03/03/2018 16:37

Shark liftaway here too, absolutely brilliant Grin

bevelino · 03/03/2018 17:52

Thank you everyone for your recommendations. Which model of the Shark has headlamps as it sounds fabulous?

Kiki275 · 03/03/2018 17:57

I have a shark, bought from Costco and it's brilliant..... not that I use it much... it's so good DH is quite happy to do all the vacuuming. Mine has head lights and it's one of the liftaway models. Half the price of a Dyson too x

MercianQueen · 03/03/2018 17:58

It's the corded Liftaway. It turns domestic drudgery into Mad Max (disclaimer: Mel Gibson is still a prick)

Pumpkintopf · 03/03/2018 18:58

Miele cat and dog. Brilliant.

Livedandlearned · 03/03/2018 19:00

Shark liftaway is amazing

andypandy55 · 04/03/2018 08:24

I have a Dyson Cordless - hopless three hours charge and about 10 minutes running time - difficult to empty and gets blocked easily. I have a SHARK LIFT AWAY. Marvellous, reasonable price, tackles pet hair easily and a lot less expensive than Dyson

Laucu · 04/03/2018 10:58

I bought a Shark vacuum last week and love it. It's the Flexology one from Argos. This morning I cleaned right under the bunk beds without having to move any furniture!

Yazoop · 04/03/2018 11:29

I just got a shark duo clean after a frankly rubbish Bosch experience.... it is amazing!

I just hope it lasts. But it does have a 5 year warranty.

Yazoop · 04/03/2018 11:29

Duo Clean has liftaway and headlamps. I'd definitely recommend it.

PipsM · 04/03/2018 13:21

I love this thread!! Has anyone tried the shark cordless? Our Bosch cordless is starting to be a total waste of time but I love not having to plug it in/unplug it and I’m tempted by the shark.... any advice?

beachbodyunready · 04/03/2018 13:25

I was disillusioned with Dyson and several friends recommended the Gtech Air Ram, so I bought one and it's fabulous, and it's got headlights Grin
