I need a new Hoover! What's best?

My trusty Dyson is on its way out and since it's my most-used household appliance I want o get the right replacement.

Soooo I am not brand loyal tho I have had two Dysons. I don't f Andy cordless but are you all going to tell me different? Cylinder is an absolute no no.

What's best? I have a lot of poor space (so need a long cord), mix of hard floors (tiles/laminate) and carpets, plus lots of crevices. I Hoover every day downstairs and twice a week upstairs so it gets quite. a bit of use.

Any recommendations or no-nos?

Shark Duoclean

Sebo ... I fell out with my Dyson daily, it's only 18 months old but I hated it. Husband did some research on what was best and came up with sebo. I wasn't convinced but I absolutely love it. So much better than the Dyson.

bassackwards · 03/02/2018 12:16

Have a look at Miele. They perform so well and last forever. We also had a Dyson at one point but ended up binning it for another Miele.

Ollivander84 · 03/02/2018 12:26

Shark duoclean. It has headlights Grin but seriously I've never been so excited about a vacuum, the suction is insane, it collects stuff I can't even see and I love it very much!

I bought this Vax in the sale. Second vax ive had. It is brilliant at mixed floors.

I'm like you and hoover almost daily. I have laminate carpet and Lino

It has a very long cord and long hose so I can leave the hoover downstairs and hoover the stairs.

Easy to empty.

I also have a cordless dyson for quick hoovers after dinner etc. HOWEVER this is not good enough for a proper hoover and power doesn't last for the whole house.

Thanks all, will check out Sebo and Shark (my SIL) has a Shark and raves :)

Shark is amazing it break down into 2 seperate parts for floor or stair cleaning and the little brush on the front pulls all sorts from the carpet others miss

Ohforfoxsakereturns · 03/02/2018 12:51

I love my Shark. It’s amazing. I am embarrassed by the strength of my feeling on this subject.

Agoddessonamountaintop · 03/02/2018 13:37

Timely thread. A friend was raving about her Shark last night but I can’t remember which model she said. I wanted a Dyson v8 but she said hers is fantastic. So which models do you Shark fans have?

Ollivander84 · 03/02/2018 13:52

I have this one via interest free and Quidco Wink

clary · 03/02/2018 15:08

Now that's a bargain but the newer and more expensive version has twice the capacity... Are you forever emptying it?

OP posts:
Ollivander84 · 03/02/2018 15:13

Only at first when it sucked up so much I was ShockShockShock because I had hoovered the day before! But it's so easy to empty, you just push one button and close it again

MyDcAreMarvel · 03/02/2018 15:16

Miele Cat and Dog , I don't have pets but it's a really good vacuum cleaner.

Praisebe · 03/02/2018 15:16

Mine is the same model as Ollivanders and it just requires a quick empty each day after each use. I have 3 pets and its amazing at clearing up their food spills and hairs i prefer to empty after each use anyway to keep it all clean

cornishmumtobe · 03/02/2018 15:23

You really should consider cordless IMO - they are sooooo good. We have the dyson v7 animal and now argue over who gets to hoover instead of the other way around. Grin

NanTheWiser · 03/02/2018 16:07

Another Sebo fan - fantastic vacuum cleaner.

Jenny2710 · 03/02/2018 17:09

Just bought a dyson cordless, it's great, especially for animal hair.

zeeboo · 03/02/2018 17:19

I'm kind of hovering between the G tech air ram and the Dyson cordless. Anyone got any experience of the Gtech?

Mrsjellybum · 03/02/2018 17:30

I have a dyson animal cordless and find it great on hard floor and okay for a quick go over the carpets mid week but not great for a big weekly vacuum
I just don't feel like the animal is powerful enough. X

MissFritton65 · 03/02/2018 18:04

I've had dysons, sebo and miele in the past and have recently bought a Henry HVX 200/11. I'm very impressed as is my cleaner. It came out well in consumer tests and does an excellent job on both carpets and wood floors. We have 4 floors and a large dog so earns it's keep and was less than £150 has been the best value for money.
