Hi Luda - my DS2 is hassling me for a hamster and I keep stalling. Are they worth the bother??

Tort that's so good to cook on the w/end for during the week. I WILL start menu planning one day soon !!

Next jobs:
DW, hang laundry, kick DS1 up the backside to finish his HW, put CDs away, scrub carpet stains.

Londonmamma · 28/04/2007 14:14

Grouchy* - that sounds exciting. What sort of job are you going for?

Aufish · 28/04/2007 14:31

I'm back and haven't done a thing on my list except a load of washing on, but in my defense I will add that I have washed our car! It needed it and as I was going to start on the washing up I found a lovely note from dp asking me to wash the car, so thought I'd better do it. He better get me some choccie for doing it now!

grouchyoscar · 28/04/2007 14:32

Londonmamma ...it's only as an admin assistant for the local children's centre. I just want to return to the world of the economically active really.

I've read through the job spec and answered each requirement. Reading it I think "Bloody hell, who wouldn't want to employ me1"

Got to fill in the handwritten bit now, my handwriting is dreadful it really is, ho hum

tortoise · 28/04/2007 16:06

Well 1st meal is simmering! Is only cottage pie but my 1st attempt at it. i don't like the smell of mince cooking but with all windows open its fine. It says can be frozen before topping with spud.
The other one i may leave. Its taken sooo long to chop all the onion and carrot and swede(omg! How hard are they to chop?).
Only an hour before ds's come home. luckily they will of had their tea! So just DD's to feed tonight.

Must get the front room tidy. Its still very messy (except my comp corner!).

I want to be able to menu plan as its easier with my lot but not quite at that stage yet! Need some meals they will all eat 1st!

ludaloo · 28/04/2007 16:29

Phew....back in from mowing the lawn (thats my puffed out face!!)

It looks much neater now though, and I've moved the swing to let the patch of grass underneath it have a chance to grow back.

I have also sparkling white nets on my kitchen back door again, and I cleaned the blinds on the window too.

Dinner is in, and I am contemplating going to a Body Shop Party this evening. My neighbour has invited me....Its in Llandewi Brefi ("The Only Gay In The Village")Village , which is about two villages away from ours. I'm a bit strapped for cash though, and it would mean DH gets the kids so I'll have to see what he thinks.

Londonmamma Hamsters are very cute, and they make perfect pets for the kids to hold and faff about with.....but....
~They sleep all day! and wake up grumpy if kids want them out!!
~They are damned noisy at night. (I have had to deprive it of its wheel, but still have to listen to it chewing the damned bars!!)
~Get a simple cage as they are a bugger to clean! (and I'm the ONLY mug who ever does it)

Other than that I thoroughly recommend them

tortoise · 28/04/2007 17:07

LM Pet rats are better than hamsters!
Food is cooked. Needs to cool before freezing or maybe fridge until tomorrow.
DS's are home now.
Rollon Ive never made it but think its condensed milk needed. Hope it turns out ok.
Shouldbe Hope the party is going well.

Londonmamma · 28/04/2007 17:19

Tort - am a bit wussy about rats, even pet ones! Luda thanks for the hamster tips
Rollon - glad the trampoline is a success
Grouchy good luck with the application. Have a nice evening everyone - Aufish - ehjoy the chocolate!

I didn't finish my jobs today. Am now in a panic to prepare food for three kids and a babysitter and get myself ready for a posh night out. See you tomorrow XXX

ludaloo · 28/04/2007 17:21

Eeeeewwwww....tort pet rats! My friend has 2 pet rats (they are her DH's) They pee all over the place!! They are quite friendly but eeewwww, they have leaky bladders (my friend very quickly stopped letting them sit on her neck!!)

OP posts:
tortoise · 28/04/2007 17:22

LM They are really lovely and never bite (ok almost never!). Very sociable. i used to walk around with mine on my shoulder.
This is making me really want another one!
Have a good evening out.

tortoise · 28/04/2007 17:24

Luda Lol. Mine din't pee all over me! the odd poo slipped out but not the rats fault!

ludaloo · 28/04/2007 17:33

After drinking a glass and a half of wine (and not nice stuff either, I think I choose nicer wine than dh does and it was one of his bottles), I can't remember anything much of what I've read! Ewwwww to pet rats. A cat or a dog, yes but then I'm biased as I have one of each.
Done:-
~ mowed lawn
~ played with dog
~ another load of washing and on line
~ lots of shopping with dd including buying me my first ever flip flop style shoes! Am breaking one pair in now. luda I was trying on the shoes in Peacocks and part of a clothes stand came crashing down within about 4 inches of my head which was bent down, putting shoes on. I would have had a terrible bash to my head if I'd been 4" closer. Certainly a trip to a&e in an ambulance and dh and ds are both away atm so dd wouldn't have the support at the end of a phone that she normally has. Please be extra careful when you're in there with your dcs. The assistant was pretty shocked herself and said she'd report it and I think I will follow it up with a letter, too. Very dangerous. It seems that a bolt sheared off for no reason - wasn't being touched or anything.
~ did some food shopping
~ returned books to library
~ returned item
~ checked on Burtons account card balance in the shop but they weren't much help. I need to ring the number I must have somewhere on the literature
~ made tea and checked e-bay for some stuff dd wanted

Still need to:-
~ sort out tomorrow and return a few items on Monday
~ ironing tomorrow
~ more tidying up tomorrow
~ put away ironed clothes tomorrow
~ tick off some receipts tomorrow
~ have a concert to go to in the evening. I'd thought it was for tonight. Tomorrow is not so good for me. Will think about it and maybe give the tickets away to a neighbour.

Okay. Off to load d/w and w/m and spend some time with dd. See you all tomorrow.

BabiesEverywhere · 28/04/2007 22:04

Good Evening if anyone is around.

I'm biased to cats...we have 8 rescue cats !!!

Belated Happy Birthday to Shouldbe's DD. I hope she had a great day

I did fab today, although I started at 5:30am, so I decided DD would move into her room today.

I have moved countless boxs from the box room (from herefore know as DD's room) to our bedroom, then cleaned the room from top to bottom and got DH to take to pieces and rebuild cot in there. DD is now asleep in her own room for the first time

So now our bedroom has loads of boxes along one wall but I think this is positive as I aim to attack this pile an hour a day during DD's morning nap, until I have sorted it all.

I also did loads around the house today and even though we have visitor around and we have been drinking a lovely wine, the house is still clean and tidy

tortoise · 28/04/2007 22:09

Well done BE. Sounds like a very productive day.

SimplySparkling · 28/04/2007 22:14

That plan sounds good BabiesEverywhere. Good luck with it! 8 cats! Do you ever find yourself forgetting names and saying "Yes, you, I'm talking to you. Don't pretend you don't know. Now stop it!" etc etc when one is being naughty and you can't get the right name to the tip of your tongue? Or is that just me? I start to call dd the dog's name once or twice a month to be sure!

tortoise · 28/04/2007 22:20

Lol simply. I do that with the dc and i have no cats!

BabiesEverywhere · 28/04/2007 22:40

LOL, I do have to think if someone askes me to name ALL my cats. But I just recite names in the order in which we adopted/rescued them

rollonsummerholidays · 28/04/2007 22:46

tort you are right it is condenesed milk so one was hastily bought from tesco but have love choc melted down from all excess easter eggs and mixed wi digestive biscuits so will buy condensed milk tomorrow. boiled the other for 2 hours for nothing. disaster still had a good night and won at poker hee hee first time beginners luck. couldn't play for real money though but it was good to beat and cant remember expression to see my hubby and him loose classic

Aufish · 28/04/2007 22:54

Good evening, anybody got any idea about car batteries? Ours has just died as he was supposed to be going to work! Has had to get a taxi to work and I'm left with the lovely battery on my dining room chair charging. I was wondering how long they take to charge or would it be better to turn it off until tomorrow morning?

sparklygirl · 28/04/2007 23:27

So much for day off. Came down stairs and DH left stuff all over the place. Tidied up and put dishwasher on. Also washing.

BabiesEverywhere · 28/04/2007 23:32

Aufish DH said leave the battery on over night for a minumum of 18 hours.
