If you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat, support and Wine and Cake along the way.

This is where, from the first of the month (seriously, HOW is it November already?!), we follow – loosely – the rules of FlyLady [see website here ]. (Pls ignore the barftastic language, and we suggest NOT signing up to the emails as there are rather a lot of them. All the info you need will be posted here on a daily basis.)

Helpful info on getting started here!.

We adopt a three-pronged approach:

-start or repeat baby steps

  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone or area (yes, just 15 mins focused work a day makes a difference!)

and/or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

[And if you are really enthusiastic and have finished decluttering - you can go on to detailed deep cleaning in each zone.]

NB
This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees not only welcome to join in but positively encouraged to do so!

Another NB
Start where you are. There is no need to worry about being perfect – perfectionism = paralysis! There is no such thing as ‘falling behind’ with FlyLady, if you miss anything, just move on and continue as normal the next day.

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Good luck!

However, now my youngest two dc are both sick so im having to take the day off! What do i do about handing in notice? Shall i email it? Wait til next week?

Sludgecolours · 08/11/2017 07:04

Good morning all!

Afreshstart sorry to hear two of yours are unwell! Hope they recover soon. I am sure someone will be along soon re: giving notice advice. Good luck with it all!

How are you both this morning Bowerbird5 and Hills?

Well done with continuing office corner reorganisation and rest of list Longtime! Doesn't sound like you are being lazy at all to me; but even if you were, you have been through so much recently (bereavement and DC leaving home) that you are more than justified in taking it steady for a bit!! Flowers

Hope everyone has as good an anti-procrastination day as poss!

Morning all. Not a good night here. Day 13/14 is growth spurt time apparently.

Afresh I think I'd wait until next week, no experience in this area but I'd probably feel weird giving in notice while off I think?

I'm so glad we don't have to go anywhere today. Other than out for lunch to celebrate our 9 year anniversary :)

Callmecordelia · 08/11/2017 07:58

Afresh, I would wait until the next time you are in. I have had to give notice, and have had people giving notice to me, and it's always better done face to face.

foxessocks · 08/11/2017 08:00

afresh it depends how quickly.you want to stop work...assuming you have a notice period can it be delayed a few days? I did email my notice but I was on maternity leave so slightly different situation (and I also had fallen out with my boss anyway so wasn't really bothered!)

To do
Anti procrastination day which means - send my bloody mop back!!
Daily routine
Shine sink (it will never be shiny its too old but I'll scrub it!)
Swish and swipe downstairs loo
Declutter in kitchen

We did dds school application last night eek!

Afreshstartplease · 08/11/2017 08:07

I will be giving four weeks notice.
It is not going to be taken well. Several staffing issues going on already. Boss was at one point a close friend but this has become strained i think as i am no longer able to commit as much as i once did.

TaylorTinker · 08/11/2017 08:39

Quick check in from a November new start.

Oh dear anti procrastination day and I have the same job to do as last week. I am so slow to learn this art of little and OFTEN.

I'm off out for a meet up with an old friend but aim to do an evening of 5 and 15 minute jobs on my return.

Bowerbird5 · 08/11/2017 08:45

Good morning.

I have just woken up at 8am and was only up once in the night. One of the best nights sleep ever. Feel slightly dopey but rash and swelling has nearly all gone so it has worked. I thought she was sensible and I have a telephone appointment next week, to save me travelling. I had only had small reactions before that and not had a big one since June. Thank you for the concern. Hope everything ok hills. Funny I had just been saying we had things in common but wasn't expecting an A & E trip to be one. So glad I didn't have to go. I get mixed reaction from red wrist bands to none and why have you come?😟 Yet I spent four hours in Resuss once eh ! That might be why I've come - swelling of the face, half tongue swollen and I have asthma and live half hour from hospital on a good day.

So plan for today my day off😊
Make bed( change sheets) and tidy room.
Remove all clutter from dining room into tidy sitting room 😟 and
declutter it. Paper declutter from October.
Clean kitchen worktops, unload and load dishwasher( dirty pans on stove) and shine sink. Wash floor.
Vacuum stairs and swish and swipe bathroom . Change towels.
Make Dr. Appointment for flu injection, acupuncture and nurse app. As she has been badgering me. GP is lovely.
This afternoon my friend may or may no arrive with my folder from felting. Good reason to get up & motivated.

Bowerbird5 · 08/11/2017 08:56

Sludge
Had one G&T and two friends bought me another.😄 I had such a stressful day. Two different children one am one pm spoke to one of staff yesterday and was telling her what happened as one 😗 so she knew. I said two and she said she would have had three then I remembered I had third bought after the quiz and most people had gone. Did the trick stress left and fuzzy feeling instead slept well and I was fine yesterday. Can hear kids next door going to school there is something good about hearing them and knowing I don't have to go today. I love my job but starting to find it hard going sometimes the Wednesday off just sets me up again.

I've lost my way! I used to be really on top of things when the children were small, but now they are older, I am sinking! I feel quite depressed thinking about how much there is to do and end up procrastinating too much.

Didn't get any home ed stuff done today (other than maths and spellings which DH got done while I slept). So will try tomorrow. We ended up out longer than expected after our celebratory lunch - bumped into friends and then had a total nightmare getting home due to roadworks so we have been chilling in front of DVDs all evening. At least we got all the laundry put away this morning though.
