Stair carpets - how do you vacuum the "up" bit?

I have a Dyson which I vacuum the bit you stand on but what do you do about the vertical bit?

I remember my mum used to use a hard brush and sweep the stairs. But 1) I don't have a hard brush, 2) I'm not inclined to do that anyway.

Don't you have a nozzle attachment?

In my 30 odd years of vacuuming the stairs, it's never occurred to me to vacuum the "up" bit. Shit a brick, more housework...

however...occasionally I DO sweep mine with a silicone brush. If you have pets it is very very satisfying.

I live in a flat now, so that's another option.

I have a Morphy Richards 2 in 1 Supervac and do the "Uprise" with the lift off section.

I have a Dyson cordless and use the upholstery attachment.

Lint roller is good too.

I scrap the dog hair off the lower 3 steps with a croc. The Dog isn't allowed any higher so the uprights aren't really an issue.

(It's called the riser, BTW. Stairs are made up of risers and treads.)
