Duvet storage. Damnit.

I've just ragequit my airing cupboard as my winter weight duvet has fallen on me AGAIN.

I have a king sized bed and change duvets depending on weather. Storing the summer one isn't such an issue, obvs, but the winter one is massive. It's on the high shelf in the airing cupboard at the mo and terribly annoying.

I also have a spare double duvet for camping and use on the sofa bed for visitors. That gets shoved in a massive cabinet in the living room but I need to get rid of the cabinet tbh.

What do people do?

Under my bed is rammed with half of my clothes and CDs. (My house is tiny).

Lakeland vaccuum bags.
Don't waste money on cheap imitations.

Bamaluz · 08/09/2017 14:28

You need vacuum storage bags, google them, they save so much room once everything is compressed down.

Phalarope · 08/09/2017 14:32

They still fall on your head in vacuum bags.

Aph413 · 08/09/2017 14:34

I send my winter one to the laundrette and it comes back in a bag I then put in a suitcase in the cupboard. Stops me from filling up my suitcase with stuff I don't need. Is that anything you could do?

AppleAndBlackberry · 08/09/2017 14:38

I don't actually have an airing cupboard so mine is currently on the floor in the spare room! Think I need to clear some space under my bed as we've only got a tiny wardrobe and it's full to bursting.

Badcat666 · 08/09/2017 14:49

I have an autumn/ summer combo super king size and can roll up each one into a round laundry bag when I don't need it which is then squeezed into my airing cupboard. I've got no room under the bed (low heavy solid wooden one) so no chance of anything getting under there apart from lost slippers!

I don't have a Hoover with a hose but never had much luck with the Those compression bags when I did.

Ours goes in the loft

gandalfspants · 08/09/2017 14:55

In the loft (in bin bags because I'm common).

dementedpixie · 08/09/2017 15:01

I also use bin bags for mind Grin

dementedpixie · 08/09/2017 15:01

Mine*

UterusUterusGhali · 08/09/2017 15:04

I can't get in my loft. :(

badcat do you mean like a sandwich type affair?
That could work!

I'm thinking of ditching the spare and giving guests blankets. Although my dd sometimes uses a double.

I put mine in empty suitcases

Phalarope · 08/09/2017 15:55

Could you put the spare duvet laid flat under your mattress? Blanket box for a coffee table? Ours are all just balanced precariously in vacuum bags on top of wardrobes.

Badcat666 · 08/09/2017 16:47

uterus have hopefully included a pic! Have dragged it out the cupboard and stuck it by the hall cabinet for scale Grin

It's got the autumn superking in it and still squishy enough to shove it on an airing cupboard shelf (my airing cupboard is too messy to show it in its natural habit) Blush

Duvet storage. Damnit.

Thank you Bad 😁

What tog is that? Does it zip onto the summer. I'm sure I've heard of them but don't know what to google.

I have a 4 tog and a 13.5 which is the bugger.

uterus I think it's a 10 . Summer one is either a 4 or 3.5, they stick together with Velcro corners cos I'm not posh enough for zip together duvets

Grin

Had to get a superking as someone who isn't me likes to roll up in the duvet like a caterpillar and smaller ones left me with a cold bottom exposed to the night air
