Blocked loo

Ahhh! What can I unblock our loo with? I need a chemical solution. I've had an aerosol air blaster thing before, but can't use it to unblock all this poo. Let's just say, it had unpleasant consequences last time! Any suggestions? Please!

A large dollop of biological washing powder and a kettle full of boiling water.
Leave it for 30 minutes then flush.

If you have a mop use it as a plunger.
Incredibly satisfying though you do have to throw the mop head away afterwards.

kindregardstoyou · 15/08/2017 14:49

What non bio work? It's all I have.

Don't have a mop either. I'm one of those people that has to use a cloth whilst on my hands and knees, or a steamer.

Plungers are really cheap, buy one.

WavingNotDrowning · 15/08/2017 15:02

the mop method - it's foolproof where a plunger won't work (google it). I tried plunger, chemicals and a wire contraption thingie - none of them worked, but a mop did.

Can you get out and buy one? much cheaper than getting people in to sort it.

kindregardstoyou · 15/08/2017 15:02

I've got one, but the water is up to the rim with poo water thanks to someone flushing it over and over.

I might just seal off the bathroom forever. Or move. Or burn it down.

Floralnomad · 15/08/2017 15:08

Just stick your arm down it and then disinfect your arm , it's probably a large poo caught just round the u bend , you should be able to reach it to break it up. Sounds disgusting but honestly it's the cheapest and quickest solution , wash thoroughly in dettol or TCP afterwards and erase from your memory .

Maryann1975 · 15/08/2017 15:09

Is it draining at all? I am no expert at this, but my dad used to use a wire coat hanger for this kind of thing. Can you poke around a bit with a hanger and see if you can dislodge the problem? (Maybe have a bin bag ready to put the coat hanger straight in once done). If you can get it to drain a bit, then pour a bucket of hot water down from a height, that might help?

HerOtherHalf · 15/08/2017 15:11

How on earth do you block a toilet with just poo? Surely there's more down there like a toilet roll, nappy or next door's cat? Knowing exactly what's blocking it will help people advise you how to deal with it.

kindregardstoyou · 15/08/2017 15:22

I think it's just poo and toilet paper. Gonna give the wire hanger and boiling water a go. It's draining, but takes a full day to do so. My husband did it, so I can only go by what he says! I'll flush him down there once I get this sorted.

HerOtherHalf - It is very easy to block a toilet with just poo. Especially the low flush toilets nowadays. I did it last week in a hotel. Happens to me and my son as we both suffer from constipation so when we do go we do whoppers (sorry if TMI).

I think you need to be careful with putting boiling water down the loo as could crack it. You do need to break it up with something.

Scrumptiousbears · 15/08/2017 15:26

Do you have an old fashioned hardware shop near you? I bought something called "one shot". It's basically acid. You take as much water out the bowl then poor this stuff in. Works a treat. I'll try to attach a pic.

We have a plumbing supply shop in town actually. Not sure why I didn't think to go there. I'll have a look for that.

You poor thing :-(. Hope you sort it. My opinion would be that if he blocked it, he sorts it!

Inflate a sturdy carrier bag. Tie on a stick. Use as plunger. Works every time for our poo monster Grin

joannegrady90 · 15/08/2017 15:52

Put a glove on and shove your hand down.

You'll be a leading to just pull out the blockage from the use bend.

Grim but I've done it plenty!

No need for fancy potions and Google searchespecially.

user1472206348 · 15/08/2017 15:55

do you have a large plastic bottle?

I have used it like a plunger in similar circumstance found it worked better then a plunger

kindregardstoyou · 15/08/2017 15:56

I have acid!

Liquid soap or washing up liquid put a large dollop in the loo and leave for about half an hour. Then flush.

JustMumNowNotMe · 15/08/2017 16:01

Fuck that, if DH did a monster crap and blocked the loo, not a chance would it be me unblocking it! Why isn't he doing it?! Shock

Rapunzel15 · 15/08/2017 16:02

If that doesn't work i would move. Do you have a man that could do it for you?
