I'm not very green but thought it may be better for the LOs

yaddayah · 28/03/2007 11:22

sadly not an expert housekeeper !

Sat with a cup of tea looking at the dust gathering under the monitor

Mil dropping round for a cuppa .. her house is spotless (even with the past weeks calamaties she still manages to dust her yukka plant ...)

Have done my 15 mins (d/w unloaded, kitchen surfaces wiped, w/m on )

Have a huge pile of ironing glaring at me

I will NOT be back on here till i've tackled at least half of it

margo I've tried lemon and bicarb, didn't have a huge amount of success with it TBH but then my oven is an absolute disgrace .. i'm too embarrassed to call out the proffesionals as i didn't clean it for the 1st two years (it was brand new) and the glass no matter what i clean it with is now a murky brown .

mhami i'd love to read your stuff

glassslipper · 28/03/2007 11:25

i have my oven cleaned once a year and it is wonderful. like getting a new oven . i try and do my bit for the environment but you're braver than i am margo.

have hoovered downstairs with dd2 under my arm and also tidied the kitchen a bit. not sure i can be bothered to do anythng else. and i have to collect dd1 in half an hour anyway....

Ohh. Well I'm the same - haven't given the oven a proper clean ever. Although my mum cleaned it when dd1 was firstborn.

okay - i have left lemon juice on the door with kitchen towel sp will leave that there for an hour - if I hsave no luck then I will go to lakeland and get oven cleaner and liner

shouldbe · 28/03/2007 11:36

I'll be waiting for news from this too - my oven door is a disgrace and I've never found anything to get to cleaned up.

staceym11 · 28/03/2007 11:42

hi everyone bit on and off today, been docs this morning and ds in his usual bad mood and i have noe energy now so thought id just pop on and wish everyone a good day!

glitterfairy · 28/03/2007 11:47

HI ludaloo and EHM and everyone got back now from various appointments and am starting my second lot of drying.

Hope that today I crack the clutter in my dining room. I find the timer thing works well and stops me getting too bored!

Apparently a cup of bleach in your oven overnight is supposed to work as well. This is according to the mum's book for the mum who's best at everything bought for me for mothers day by my ds!

One of the top tips I love is about getting them up in the morning which is to walk into their bedroom and point at the end of their bed then scream and run out wihtout an explanation! LOL I am waiting to use this one on either of my dds whichever irritates me the most with this problem.

ludaloo · 28/03/2007 12:04

ooooh Mr Muscle Oven cleaner is good too...It all foams up, you leave it for half an hour, then wipe off. I use a brillo pad on my oven door glass...makes it sparkle!!
I tried the mix that Anthea Turner suggested..vinigar, borax and something or other...CRAP! didn't touch the gunk round the hot plates!!

GF I like the wake them up tip!! My FIL used to wake all his lot up by lifting the ends of the beds up and dropping them!! Strangely, its very effective!!!

Right I have lit a fire, collected ds (who made me a lovely pottery Egg Cup!!!
Off to hoover all over now

ludaloo · 28/03/2007 12:05

Hi stacey smile...hope ds cheers up!!

shouldbe · 28/03/2007 12:06

Oh Luda - did you ever buy the Anthea book? I seem to remember you saying were going to - what's it like? I may ask for it as an Easter pressie instead of an egg

glitterfairy · 28/03/2007 12:12

Yes luda is it worth it? I looked at it in Borders the other day and thought cant stand her wont buy it but it did seem to have a few useful tips.

Mhamai · 28/03/2007 12:12

Morning all, I'm still kicking myself over loosing that piece yesterday.

Now this is nowhere near as good, in fact I've literally just made it up in the last ten minutes, it's very simple but in honour of the fly girls here goes. This is not a poem, just a silly ryhme, I will try and put that piece together again at some stage.

Theres a fly in my soup.

Surrounded once by clutter
My house was one big mess
A notion of routine was alien
I sadly must confess

But there one Monday morning
As I surveyed the myer
Along came Kelly's mission
To which I could aspire

Now nothing happened instantly
In fact twas rather slow
But lord in fifteen minutes
My heart began to glow

To those not into flying
A shiny sink sounds naff
But just three short weeks later
I've got a tidy gaff

And what a lovely bunch of flyers
If I may say so myself
There really is much more to us
Than dusting down the shelf

So join me as I raise a glass
In honour of our troupe
We really are the best by far
A hearty kindered group.

To each and everyone one of us
I salute us all for trying
So there you go
That's my bit done
I'm off to do some flying

shouldbe · 28/03/2007 12:14

Mhamai

Mhamai · 28/03/2007 12:18

I don't think Wordsworth or Yeats need worry just yet!

glitterfairy · 28/03/2007 12:18

Brilliant its like an anthem.

Mhamai · 28/03/2007 12:24

Now I really must go and do some flying! I probably won't be around till this evening as I've to bring my dad to a hospital appointment, so hope you all have a lovely day.

Jelley · 28/03/2007 12:26

Lovely Mhamai Made me

My cake sunk in the middle, but I've got who knows how many mums coming round in 1/2 hour for tea and cake so it'll have to do. I only need to hoover. Isn't it great, pre FLY I would have had to spend three days cleaning to be confident to invite people round, now I can do it whenever I want!

I used Oven Mate (not from Lakeland, I bought it in Tesco.) You just leave it in the oven overnight and wipe off. It didn't smell and it really worked!

OP posts:
ludaloo · 28/03/2007 12:27

Lol!! *Mhamai thats Brilliant

I might print it off and put it in my tips folder (if its not copywrited!)

I have ordered Antheas Book from Amazon...it was not printed when I ordered it, but said it would be available the end of March...It must be due anytime soon...

Mhamai · 28/03/2007 12:31

Well done Jelley ooh that cake sounds lovely! I dare you to put a plate aside with a piece of the cake and tell them it's for your fly buddy mhamai!

Mhamai · 28/03/2007 12:33

ludaloo I would be honoured if you put it in your folder. Must go now, catch you all later.

ludaloo · 28/03/2007 12:39

thanks....see you later.

Well thats downstairs hoovered, and I have de-fluffed the tumble dryer filter.

I read on a thread somewhere to check the Fire Alarms, and it has been niggling me, so I am going to hoover upstairs and check the Alarm!
