Tea-stained mugs

How do you remove tea stains from your mugs? I've been using bleach but when I mentioned this to my partner he freaked out. Obviously I wash them thoroughly afterwards. Is there a better way?

Bicarb and vinegar, then dishwasher to get rid of vinegar taste. Works brilliantly. It's also what I use to clean those metal thermos flasks (they can't go in the dishwasher afterwards, which is why I was looking for an alternative to bleach and found the bicarb and vinegar solution).

I use a drop of bleach and cold water to the top of the mug and then pour mix into next mug and put mug in dishwasher. I don't find the dishwasher alone gets rid of tannin stains but I can use a scourer when washing up by hand to remove stains but that takes effort!
