This is what I've just removed from the sitting room:

pink fluffy sock
oven gloves
box of drill bits
screwdriver
tape measure
selection of toys and childrens books
brownie sash which appears to have banana mashed into it
I've also moved the sofa and found 20p ,a polystyrene egg, 8 plastic balls and enough dust to make my own carpet

A well aimed friendly boot in the rear maybe? Arghhhhhhhh I hate days like this.

Jelley · 26/03/2007 13:22

xposts (I added to my list as I wasd doing it)

Mhamai, I agree, just do 15 mins on the worst room, have lunch, and then do an hour on the most urgent essay.

Jelley · 26/03/2007 13:23

friendly boot.

Come back in 15 and tell us what you did...

OP posts:
Mhamai · 26/03/2007 13:32

Will do

ludaloo · 26/03/2007 13:58

Mhamia OOhhh I hate those days, I have to say though, I sympathise on the assignment front, I was never very organised as a student...let alone a student MOTHER!!!
I would try to get the kitchen a bit straighter...I always feel better when the kitchen is looking ok.

Jelley, Your living room list made me

Well I have now

~Hung another load out
~Put more washing in
~Put washing away (YIPPEE)
~Bathed DD2

Have about an hour to do a quick Fudge Cake before walking to get DD1

Jelley · 26/03/2007 14:08

I have hoovered everywhere downstairs, and it looks good if you ignore the mountain of clean clothes on the sofa.
Off to sort it now.

OP posts:
tortoise · 26/03/2007 14:09

Why do i always lose interest in cleaning in the afternoon?

Jelley · 26/03/2007 14:10

It is impossible to keep up the motivation all day. (That is why I am still here instead of folding washing

OP posts:
tortoise · 26/03/2007 14:11

Lol! But by tomorrow the kitchen will need wiping over again and nothing else will get done!!
Really want to get ds's room sorted before they are here tomorrow.

NineUnlikelyTales · 26/03/2007 14:20

Jelley - I hate to tell you this after you have put your winter coats away, but they have forecast snow for the end of the week..........

glitterfairy · 26/03/2007 14:21

HI everyone. Have just run two miles and am now off to wash up! I thought the run on such a lovely day would make me feel better.

Have so much tidying though I dont know what to do but may not get as much as I thought done as am spending time with a friend of mine whose husband packed up and left last week! She has three little girls and when I went round this monring was cleaning in a mega way and had been up all night doing it.

babygrand · 26/03/2007 14:24

Can I ask about the lists some of you make? Do you really find it helps to make lists of all the things you should do today? Surely some of them could be done more quickly than typing them out? And doesn't it depress you have so many tasks in front of you? I think one thing at a time sounds more manageable to me. Perhaps it's a fly thing I haven't read about yet.

Jelley · 26/03/2007 14:27

I haven't put everything away 9nut. I've learnt the hard way

babygrand the lists aren't FLY lady things at all. Some of us find they help, so we do them. I actually use it to remind myself to do some jobs, and find it quite satisfying to have a big long list of things I have done.
I just don't do a list if I know I won't get much done.

OP posts:
ludaloo · 26/03/2007 14:31

Right then...cake is in

Looks like I have just the hoovering to do really but that can wait until later.

Babygrand Nope! I much prefer a list, it reminds me of what I need to do, and I actually feel I have achieved something when I can put a done at the end of it!
Also I tend to get very sidetracked. I can be doing one thing and half way through, I think "Ah I need to do such and such"...then off I go, and I haven't even done the job I was doing! If I see a list, I can focus on what I need to do, and get it ticked off

(it also gives me an excuse to sit down for a minute or so to type the list and see what the FLY peeps have been doing

ludaloo · 26/03/2007 14:32

LOL!!! Not sure why I said Nope at the beginning there ...of course you can ask!!

tortoise · 26/03/2007 14:35

I sometimes list as i go along but most of the time i do so little that its not worth typing it!
Actually i do get more done if the computer is off but then i miss FLY chats and seeing what others are up to.

I must get on!

babygrand · 26/03/2007 15:03

Thanks - I'm still at the shining my sink stage, but babysteps obviously add up bit by bit. I'm getting a bit better at de-cluttering too, but still a long way to go.

tortoise · 26/03/2007 15:21

Another load of washing on and a load in TD. ran out of line space.
DS2's easter bonnet is finished now too.(Ok I didn't 'plan' to do it now but had an idea so got on with it!

Right, attack the front room now i suppose!

glassslipper · 26/03/2007 15:43

babygrand. i rarely do big lists but i do like to tell people what i've done sometimes to get a pat on a back

Mhamai · 26/03/2007 15:46

Sorry not much to report as ds had a bad fall, nothing broken thank God but the poor mite was badly shaken, I dropped the laptop, it's still working..phew Anyone got a cuboard I can climb into?

tortoise · 26/03/2007 16:04

Oh no Mhamai. Glad he is OK.

Well i now have a tidy and hoovered front room floor!

Trying to get DD's to pick up all the stuff they have taken outside now!

NineUnlikelyTales · 26/03/2007 16:41

Glad your DS is okay, Mhamai

Buy washing powder done
Tesco shop done
Buy veg for dinner done
Library done
Tidy kitchen done
Tidy sitting room done
Tidy dining room
Tidy bathroom
Vacuum if possible done

Blimey, this is most unlike me. And I've just done today's mission as well

I have a ton of ironing to do when DS is in bed, so I might use it as an excuse to watch a good DVD at the same time.

Ludaloo I am so impressed that you always seem to be baking. I wish I could bake more often, as I love to eat cake, etc and it is much nicer home made.

shouldbe · 26/03/2007 17:32
