I use a disposable one, I think it's made by Toilet Duck, you buy the handle and refills (disposable 'brushes') and then just refills after that... just pick a 'brush' up with the 'grabby' end of the handle, clean the loo with it (it already has cleaner on) and release to flush away when done, much more hygienic than a traditional loo brush

SayNoToCarrots · 17/07/2017 13:42

I saw this amazing stick thing once, like a spatula for poo. I didn't buy it in case my son thought it was a sword.

Bexta147 · 18/07/2017 06:55

I just use bleach. Put bleach in the toilet, close the lid and leave it there for as long as possible. Then when your ready flush the bleach away and it's as good as new!

Tinnie88 · 18/07/2017 07:01

Bleach also. I hate loo brushes with a passion. No idea why a shitty stick of germs in the bathroom would ever be a good idea Confused

metalmum15 · 18/07/2017 07:10

I'm curious, for those of you who don't have loo brushes, how do you get rid of shitty skid marks left in the toilet? Pouring bleach down doesn't always get rid of them.

Toilet duck disposables work well.

PrettyGreyEyes · 18/07/2017 07:18

Not having a loo brush is mortifying for guests who leave marks no? Unless you expect them to scrub with their hands or breezily march out of the loo and adk for rubber gloves and bleech.

I'd rather have the disposable loo brush but at a push, any brush is better than nothing.

Bluntness100 · 18/07/2017 07:23

Bleach does exactly what it says on the tin, it turns the stain white so you can't see it, it's still there. I used to work for a major manufacturer who made it.

Your loo is still poopy, it's just white poop.

claritytobeclear · 18/07/2017 08:34

I used the toilet duck handle with a small piece of cheap cut up dish sponge. It is better than the disposable piece you can buy to go with because it is more 'scrubby'. This then gets thrown away after cleaning all the loos in the house. I don't always scrub the toilet though, only if there is a limey looking water line or marks under the water line. I can easily wipe any other marks above the water line off with an anti bac wipe. I also use loo cleaner with bleach.

dudsville · 18/07/2017 08:40

I haven't come across any disposable things that are recyclable. I use a toilet brush. If you fill your loo with toilet cleaner and ane Cowan it and then keep the brush in the bowl and flush it gets a rinse.

claritytobeclear · 18/07/2017 08:44

You could always attach a sprig of rosemary or something to the toilet duck handle duds, rinse well and then put it in the garden waste, duds! Grin

Iikkiilloo · 18/07/2017 09:15

Use a toilet 'spatula'. You could actually clean them properly unlike brushes

We don't have or need anything in our house. Occasionally you need to chuck a bit of extra paper in the loo and flush twice but other than that we are skid free. I think it must be the design of the loos

Loo brush !
NuzzleandScratch · 18/07/2017 09:25

Toilet brush hysteria is a mn thing, meanwhile back in the real world, everyone I know has a toilet brush! I only use mine after leaving toilet cleaner to soak for a bit, then give it all a good scrub, including under the rim, then rinse the brush in the flush. I never have bits of poo on the brush. I wipe round the rest of the toilet with Dettol wipes. No one's died yet.

trinity0097 · 18/07/2017 09:27

Th hotel I am staying in have rubber/silicone loo brushes - is this some European thing?!

Iikkiilloo · 18/07/2017 09:48

Loo brush threads always make me laugh. I think it because for once I'm with 'MN' as I find loo brushes totally gross 😂. I literally don't care what other people have in their house but I'm not having a loo brush in my house.

💩💩💩💩

PollyBanana · 18/07/2017 09:51

IKEA do black toilet brushes.
They're still minging but it's invisible ming

Domestos (and it MUST be domestos) bleach.

A squirt of that after a number 2 and in about 15 mins, it dissolves the skids away.

I say domestos, as although all bleaches are the same (some store brands are actually little stronger bleach), the branded versions ARE better at clinging to the sides of the bowl and therefore, clearing the muck.

MikeUniformMike · 18/07/2017 13:24

Any Thick Bleach will do.
Unfortunately, loo brush is a necessity.
Disposable bog brushes - whatever next.

I'll take this opportunity to say only flush pee poo and paper in the bog.
Moist wipes, baby wipes, cotton wool, cotton buds, nappies tampons, condoms etc should go in the bin.

flibbertigibbety · 18/07/2017 13:33

Take a look at this... if you have a spare £40 to spend on a space age loo brush!!

MikeUniformMike · 18/07/2017 14:32

The vegemite threw me.

What does the loo gun do that a water pistol wouldn't, apart from make the seller rich.

Iikkiilloo · 18/07/2017 14:59

Lol, last time someone posted about the loo gun it got torn to bits. It's really big and ugly. One of those spactula things would work better surely and is at least £30 cheaper.

flibbertigibbety · 18/07/2017 15:44

I hadn't actually watched the video... even with fake vegemite poo (and what's wrong with lovely marmite I ask?) it's pretty gross.

A brightly coloured super soaker water pistol would go better with all the toddler toys in my bathroom to be honest, good shout @MikeUniformMike

MikeUniformMike · 18/07/2017 15:49

Thank you flibbertigibbety. I'm off to load up my water piss-tol right now.

NoDecorum · 20/07/2017 22:09

I don't have a loo brush. Sorry, I think they're disgusting. Just the thought of the shitty pool of rancid water they end up sitting in, in their holders... ugh.

I use bleach, rubber gloves, and kitchen roll or an old scourer for wiping/scrubbing.

A capful or two of neat Zoflora every couple of days keeps everything smelling fresh.
