mission

OP posts:
Jelley · 22/03/2007 07:12

Morning shouldbe. I've just read last nights thread, and was going to start todays...glad I checked first

I've forgotten most of what I wanted to say.

Whoever was asking about a contrl journal - I started flying when ds was 6 months, and actually got more done than now that he is 13 months

I never did a control journal. I bought and use an organised mum calendar, and wrote a weekly plan with my daily jobs to go on the fridge.
It has housework jobs on one side, and kids stuff on the other, so I know who is doing after school activities.

Welcome back ruby, and get well soon stacey (How did I miss that you were ill yesterday?)

DP hoovered and washed up while I was helping at Brownies last night

shouldbedoingthehousework · 22/03/2007 07:13

Good morning

I'm feeling very slightly better this morning I can speak without intense pain in my throat and can occasionally breath through my nose

The desk was eventually moved in order to fit the blind yesterday so I'd like to hoover behind it before moving it back into position. Then I need to crack on with clearing up the room in general. Not sure how far I'll get - I'm still not well so need to take it easy - please remind me of this if you see me about the place

Better go and make the packed lunches and get everyone off to school/pre-school/work.
Have a good day all

im feeling much better today! hope yuo are too shouldbe, oh and tort of course!!

shouldbedoingthehousework · 22/03/2007 07:17

I've never done a control journal either or have a list of any sort but I do mentally know that on a Tuesday I do X and on a Wednesday Y and a Thursday Z. Other days are when I have ds at home with me so I just do whatever he'll let me do/help me with I do manage to keep on top of the basics but would like to be able to fit in the more hidden extras - the cupboard under the stairs, under the spare bed, the loft etc...Not sure when I'll ever find the time for those

OP posts:
Jelley · 22/03/2007 07:27

I'm impressed you remember, shouldbe. I have no memory at all these days (I blame having children) The jobs list helps stop me putting things off for another day.

I have a list of hidden jobs, too, in the back of my accounts book, where I would crross things out when(if) I did them

Lol Jelley my mental list is very basic (I too have no memory these days!)-
Tuesday = hoover and mop floors. Downstairs tidy
Weds = as above but upstairs
Thursday = ironing

Washing etc happens whenever it needs doing, kitchen counter-tops get wiped down daily, anything else is a bonus

All has fallen by the wayside in recent weeks though with the family all being permenantly poorly...need to get back on track next week before we break up for the Easter hols and it all falls apart even further!

Hello, I'm not a new flyer but am newish to Mumsnet. I work from home (mostly at PC) with two kids, but one's at school usually though not today because of illness, so today's going to be a challenge! The other is still a baby who naps every day.

I've fallen off the routines wagon over the last week or so so need to be sure of getting more done today. I usually find when that happens I need to go back to doing as little as possible for each job otherwise I put it off because I haven't got time/can't be bothered to do it properly! I don't do missions yet because I'm not on top of routines or decluttered enough to get on to those. One day though...

So my flying aim for the day is for us to do all our routines, morning, afternoon and evening.

STILL working my way through the pile of dishes

JustIvor · 22/03/2007 08:27

Hey Flame, pass me the teatowel! I'll give you a hand.

JustIvor · 22/03/2007 08:33

Hello to all esp newbies.

Well, ds has gone to school and I think I've escaped the worst of the bug.

So far:-
~ loaded d/w
~ put a load of washing in w/m
~ put the recycling in the recycling bin outside

To do:-
~ hoover (possibly)
~ iron (doubt it somehow!)
~ walk the dog (definitely)
~ shower and dress
~ wash the pet bowls
~ I daren't say what else! Those with long memories will be in stitches to hear that the Cotswold thing, Hawkshead thing and thank you notes are still not done! Ha ha ha!

shouldbedoingthehousework · 22/03/2007 08:41

Ivor ...I'm secretly relieved that I'm not the only one who has some jobs outstanding from several months ago! Will you still be able to return the Cotswold and Hawkshead things this far on? Hope so. I live only a few miles from a Cotswold Co shop but have never been in....it's in a very touristy place so we avoid it and stick to the places where parking is easier They do have some nice things online though so I'd quite like a look - don't have money to spend atm though so would hate to be tempted....

OP posts:
shouldbedoingthehousework · 22/03/2007 08:43

Flame Good Luck with those dishes

Right..I'd better go and lug the hoover up the stairs so as to tackle this room some more. Need to at least hoover under the desk and get the desk cleaned up and back in place. Then need to do a quick whizz round downstairs before collecting ds at midday...

Smile
JustIvor · 22/03/2007 08:48

I made you smile, shouldbe. I don't know if I'll be able to return the items. I'm not that bothered about the refunds really, though I'll probably insist on it, knowing me. The faulty Hawkshead item only cost me about £10 in the sale but because I'm not ordering from them until I sort out this item, it is saving me a fortune as I'm not at all tempted by their catalogues/e-mails! As for Cotswold, the box says something along the lines of "this item is guaranteed for comfort and fit" or somesuch and it is rubbish. They are normally pretty decent when I ask them about a customer service matter. I know not to ask one man there, he is not customer friendly at all!

JustIvor · 22/03/2007 08:49

Pass me another, Flame, this one is sopping wet!

ludaloo · 22/03/2007 09:12

NineUnlikelyTales · 22/03/2007 09:57

Morning everyone and thanks for the advice re: coontrol journals. I guess the jury is still out (Jelley I hope you are not telling me that 13m olds are harder work than 6m)

How fantastic am I? I did half of today's mission yesterday (cleaning bedside table - at least I assume that's what a nightstand is, not some sort of metal sideboard or anything). I just have to change the bedding, but I normally do that on Saturdays.

Ruby I am impressed with your ebaying. I am never that organised with it. GO your already done list is sickening, go away

I am going out today and tomorrow to see friends, so the housework can whistle, as my mother would say.

Done
Load of laundry on to wash/dry

To do
Get veg for dinner
Go to chemists
Make beds
Ring hotels for June wedding
Go out and forget about house completely

Happy FLYing

ChaCha · 22/03/2007 10:00
