staceym11 · 18/03/2007 08:17

happy mothers day to you all!!!!

(iv been up with the kids since 7, dh wont wake up, despite poking, and he wonders why i get stressed!!!)

not been too bad tho, ds has been giggling at me, and dd has been very loving! not that either of them really understand, but so far no tantrums!!!!

ludaloo · 18/03/2007 08:20

stacey my dh won't get up despite 3 kids jumping on him!! Infuriating isn't it!! You wait till fathers day

shouldbedoingthehousework · 18/03/2007 08:25

Oh dear, you two!

I've had my breakfast in bed (not easy with two lo's bouncing about and watching your every mouthful!) and had a lovely home made card from dd. Dh bought me flowers
Dds list of activities for me to do this morning are:
Breakfast in bed
Nice bath
watch dancing on ice with her
have lunch (she's cooking!)

And at bedtime (I'll be on my own with them by then..) she wants to read the bedtime stories

Nice and sunny but freezing cold here - anyone got snow yet?

ludaloo · 18/03/2007 08:53

aww shouldbe good for you xx well deserved IMO

Its freezing here too...no sun...its hailing pretty heavily!!! The daffodils are getting battered in the garden!!!!

Its looking like snow! very grey, and my hair has gone static!!! (odd I know but it is usually a sign of snow!)

Right well had better clean the fire out and light a fire...I'm freezing sat here..

Back later xx

staceym11 · 18/03/2007 09:28

oh luda, not just me then, thing is its like this everytime, and yet fathers day i get up and do everything and make him tea etc. now im still doing it all on mothers day! feels like he doesnt appriciate me as a mother!!!!

shouldbedoingthehousework · 18/03/2007 09:35

{{{Hugs}}} stacey. I'm sure he does really - it's a man thing I think.

Dd joined me in the bath (and is still there!) so not quite as relaxing as it could have been lol!

Wanted to try to get to church this morning for the Mother's Day service (a good hour to take the time to remember my mum then get on with enjoying being a mum for the rest of the day..) but we're never going to make it now.... Will have a family walk to mum's grave instead - it's a nice walk across some fields...just hope I can get out the front door without my anxiety creeping in....

staceym11 · 18/03/2007 09:42

oh shouldbe, hope you get to your mums grave to have some time to remember her!!

i have to put dd in the bath with me later but thats because she has suddenly become terrified of it (after she accidentaly pooed in it a couple of weeks ago!) so got to try and get her used to it again!!!!

shouldbedoingthehousework · 18/03/2007 09:49

lol stacey! We had a poo in the bath incident when my dd was little too - she just thought it was funny though Hope you have a good day - you deserve it

grouchyoscar · 18/03/2007 09:55

Mothers' Day...I was going to be all cynical about it at first but I got to thinking 'Hey, I do tons, more than I ever did pre DS so it can at least be acknowledged'

DS's school's PTA get small items and wrap them, They give the kids the opportunity to buy a 'secret' gift for mum etc. I gave DS the 1.50 to join in on Wednesday. While walking DS to school on Thursday DS says

Mum I got you a present
Yes sweetheart and thank you
It's shiney blue with a little ribbon
Yes dear, and I'm very excited about it
And it's full of yummy chocolates!
Oh!

Earlier this week DH said 'Oh he's got you a present then so I just need to get a card then...Sorry to be picky but I had to explain that I think I'm worth a bit more than some cheap chocolates I don't really like and that I bought myself. DH went a bit huffy about that.

Got a card, a lie in and some blueberry pancakes. I've been able to go back to bed and listen to R4, so I can't complain really First lie in for a while without having to loud;y beg for it

So Ladies, how are you today?

ludaloo · 18/03/2007 10:02

dh still in bed...I've just gone up to ask him when he is getting up and he replied "sean is not in today" ???? As far as I'm aware sean is the chap he has just bought his van off?????
So I shook him and he tutted at me and said "in a minute"

He can skidaddle if he thinks I'm taking him a cup of tea up!

shouldbedoingthehousework · 18/03/2007 10:05

luda at your dh! Hope he makes up for it later

tortoise · 18/03/2007 10:11

Happy Mothers Day Fly Mums.

Shouldbe That sounds lovely.
Luda at your DH.

xp1 didn't sort anything for me from DS's. I bought the card (they chose one) and opened it this morning. DD's made cards with xp2.
DD's are in the bath now. Just a normal day for me. Lots of tidying up to do and need to go and get milk.

Have a good day all.

tortoise · 18/03/2007 10:13

Ooops missed off stacey and GO.
GO Have a good rest. Sounds like a good breakfast.
Stacey Sorry your DH didn't get up either.

grouchyoscar · 18/03/2007 10:22

Luda for you and at your DH/P that is so not on!

DH said he'd get me something I want when I see it mind you I son't feel guilty as I'm waiting on an eBay auction for something for him as a TQ for looking after me over the past week

glitterfairy · 18/03/2007 10:36

Hello everyone not looked in for a day or two because I was ashamed of not doing anything much. Then I refelcted and thought I have done lots of work but perhaps not housework!

Anyway happy mothers day. My kids have as usual made the day for me and not having a dh anymore is so much better. No stress over him forgetting as usual and then doing a Ludaloo's h and staying in bed (only he was worse and then woudlnt help at all). Got a body massager from my 8 year old and a mothers book of everything from ds! Top tips ladies in there.

ANyway not going to do too much today as spent yesetrday changing sheets and sorting washing. Am on the last day of a seven day juice diet today so am looking forward to some real food tomorrow and being wistful abotu not eating today but it is the last day.

tortoise · 18/03/2007 10:51

Aww GF That sounds lovely.
How do the DC get the gifts for you?

I couldn't afford to buy myself anything from them. Spoils it really. May buy myself some flowers next week. I never do that so will be a nice treat for me.

glitterfairy · 18/03/2007 11:00

My darling ds used his 11th birthday money which I dont approve of and they save any penny they find at the moment and buy me presents whenever. I try and stop them and usually they are very small like a pencil (I have a huge collection).

They make me things as well like pictures for my office. My ds who is 8 just, spent a fiver on a body massager and made me a bag for it to go in and three cards with poems. My eldest made me a card and is buying me something this afternoon.

They all witnessed my X forgetting every ocassion and making me sad and they make every effort to make these days really special usually with a cooked breakfast in bed as well.

Being a single mum can be hard work but the rewards are magnificent. they will always remember tort how hard we tried for them.

tortoise · 18/03/2007 11:06

Awww they sound like lovely children. You must be so proud of them.
My DS1 is nearly 10 and he hadn't even thought about it. I had to ask if they wanted to get me a card.

Maybe next year will be different!

glitterfairy · 18/03/2007 11:41

LOL Tort he needs training. I never want to be a mil who is ashamed because her darilng son hasnt bought approrpiate and well thought out presents on the right days always remembering and never needing to be reminded!

Yes I am proud and they are lovely and considering everything they have been through with violent X it is amazing.

Anyway have now done

Washing up twice
Shopping list
Showered and washed hair using new gadets and products
Tidied

Lookign at snow now though and all kids out playing and having a snowball fight.

staceym11 · 18/03/2007 11:43

Aw what a great day glitterfairy!!

well my dh got up after much persuasion, made breakfast in bed (again after persuasion) and gave me my cards and pressies! they were nice!!! then i went back to bed!! and hes now washing up! gunna make him suffer for not getting up!!!

glitterfairy · 18/03/2007 11:44

good for you.

Mhamai · 18/03/2007 11:47

Hi everyone, feeling very I know I need a kick in the rear but even bthough dd 20 gave me my presents last night as she wouldn't be here today (Off last night to a party and stayed over in friends house) I found out last night accidently through her friends dm that she went for a meal with them and lied about it to me. I'm not explaining this well so just ignore me. Also my own dm is dead 8 yrs in May and I'm really missing her today.
