If you like your vacuum, what is it?

Wanting to get a new vacuum cleaner but overwhelmed by the choice! Don't have the budget for a Dyson, so would love to know what vacuum cleaners you have that you rate.

I've seen a Vax for a good price but haven't had one before.

I have a hetty - a pink Henry. Love her. She's wonderful. When she goes wrong I will just replace. I think they are around £100

Atticmatic · 24/12/2016 07:46

Shark Lift Away. It's ace. Best vac I've ever had and much better than a Dyson.

Gingerbreadmam · 24/12/2016 07:47

Vac pet reach. Got this after a dyson and it is MILES better!

honeylou42 · 24/12/2016 07:48

Henry ,we have tried loads and this is the best by far Xmas Smile

ursuslemonade · 24/12/2016 07:58

I have a Henry. Didn't want couldn't afford anything fancy when we needed a new one about 7 years ago and he is still going strong.

Strokethefurrywall · 24/12/2016 08:00

IRobot Roomba (can't remember model) and I've named him Fabio. He's the new love of my life.
Also have Dyson v6 handheld thingy, also brilliant.

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 24/12/2016 08:20

Thank you all!

I am tempted by a Henry but my mum had one and it was so heavy...are they still?

We have a Sebo upright in the house and a Henry in the garage. The Sebo is absolutely brilliant. Henry is very good too but not quite as good as the Sebo.

I wouldn't say Henry is heavy, just awkward as it's bulky. But they're bomb proof and last forever.

My sister has just bought a lightweight Vax Air upright thing and likes it. I think she got a 5 year warranty with it too.

BitchyInnerMonologue · 24/12/2016 12:37

Miele cat & dog. Even DH likes it.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 24/12/2016 12:40

Ancient Miele (around 15 yrs) does the job. But it probably doesn't suffer from over use Blush

Chokehold · 24/12/2016 12:43

Henry (the more powerful one with more tools) can't remember what it's called. Love him!!

Badcat666 · 24/12/2016 12:44

Loved my dead Henry, now have a Gtech.... wuv it so much

jerryfudd · 24/12/2016 12:47

Have a hetty. She is heavy but I love her

midnightlurker · 24/12/2016 12:48

Henry Xtra. Wouldn't have anything else. Particularly love the carpet brush thing that brings it up like new every time.

nurseinwonderland · 24/12/2016 12:48

I've got a Vax Reach. I love it. Wanted a Dyson but couldn't afford one, paid about £90 for my Vax. I'd had a Hoover and the belt snapped on a weekly basis and it didn't work on my hard floor in the conservatory.
My Grandmother has one of those cordless Dysons, I think it's rubbish compared to mine.

Pancakeflipper · 24/12/2016 12:49

Sebo.

CoolBananas · 24/12/2016 12:55

Love my vax. Really easy to use/empty etc. It broke after 5 years and vax replaced it as still covered by the 6 year warranty.

Want2bSupermum · 24/12/2016 12:58

We have a Miele that is 5 years old and it works like new still. The cordless Dyson that is six months old is broken. It was great while it worked but I expected it to last 3-4 years, not six months.

pinkblink · 24/12/2016 13:04

Have you called dyson, Super mum? They exchanged mine no questions asked when it was about 3 months old and I had problems with the battery

NotCitrus · 24/12/2016 13:05

Got an industrial Electrolux as used by office cleaners, in 1998. Still going strong and works well, much as I would like one with a retractable cord. MrNC worked on an industrial estate where a place sold industrial vacs, so he got an old model dirt cheap.

MIL burnt out two Dysons on first use. Apparently they weren't meant for dog hair or annual hoovering...

Want2bSupermum · 24/12/2016 13:10

pink I've emailed them 3 times now and they keep sending replies to troubleshoot. I'm so close to shoving it where the sun doesn't shine.

LemonyFresh · 24/12/2016 13:16

I bought a Vax pet upright (its purple, can't remember the proper name, maybe pet cadence?) for about £50 on Amazon and it is the best hoover I've ever owned - it picks up everything and the carpets look brand new after hoovering.

BackforGood · 24/12/2016 13:19

Henry.
Yes, they are heavy, but they have a lovely long hose so you aren't trying to balance them halfway up the stairs like I used to with my previous vac.

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 24/12/2016 13:21

I'm heartened by the Vax positive experiences...there's a bagless Power 8 one half price ATM for £60 and it would be good to get one that cheap if possible! It's been an expensive month.

Henry really like the bags, they hold so much and I don't get the dust cloud when emptying that I used to with my bagless dyson.
