How do you sort your washing?

Krazylady · 13/12/2016 14:50

Just wondering...I think I probably do more loads than necessary instead of lumping together.

I always separate the following:
Jeans
Towels
Bed linen
DH's shirts
Dark colours
Light colours
Woollens
Delicates

I've always done it this way, but my sister says she just does dark or light colour washes. Who is right? Do I need to get a life?

Dark synthetics
Dark cottons
Light/whites
Trousers

Dog mats/bedding

Cotton needs much more water to wash than synthetics, so they wash better separated.

Foldedtshirt · 14/12/2016 06:14

Everything at 30 with a colour catcher! Work shirts go to the shirt man for washing and ironing, occasionally just ironing if I've been organised enough to wash them separately and ds' white school shirts get washed and ironed on their own.
I do send a lot out now I think about it Blush

ButteredToastAndStrawberryJam · 14/12/2016 06:38

Darks and lights (mostly white). Towels and bedding, I like to do towels/tea towels separate at 60 (white towels, dark towels/tea towels).

ButteredToastAndStrawberryJam · 14/12/2016 06:40

*If I had all white bedding I'd do it at 60 but because it's coloured I don't, I think the colours are going to fade too fast.

Candlefairy101 · 14/12/2016 06:46

We are a family of 5, 2x adults, 1x primary school, 1x messy toddler and 1x baby.

Towel/bedding at 60*
Blues/greys at 30*
Plain whites at 60* (bit of bleach)
Whites with logos etc at 40 or 60
Pinks/red at 30* or 40

Never done a delicate wash. Blush

bigbuttons · 14/12/2016 06:51

I don't, can't arsed.

bigbuttons · 14/12/2016 06:51

be arsed, even

CatsCantFlyFast · 14/12/2016 07:11

Oh my goodness this is eye opening
I do darks, mixed colours, whites and Wools. If there's a need for a separate load or a lot that need doing I do towels

NicknameUsed · 14/12/2016 07:23

I'm amazed at people doing a separate load just for jeans. We would run out of clothes to wear if I saved them all up for one load. Why can't they just go in with the other dark stuff? I don't have any delicates which does make it a lot easier.

I think some people overly complicate their laundry.
