Ceramic Hob - to buy or not to buy?

Hi

I am getting a new kitchen (i have a very small galley kitchen).

Quite like the look of the ceramic hobs (with one or two halogen rings).

However a bit dubious about the control - are they any good to cook on? Does anyone have any experience?

I had one in my last house and loved it. So much easier to keep clean as you just wipe it over with the work surface at the end of cooking.
We only bought it because it was an ex-display bargin but soo much better than gas. I have gas again now (not my choice) had it gets filthy its such a pain to clean that I always put it off till another day and it turns into a massive job.
Never had a problem cooking on the ceramic either.

Oh ffs you don't need special cleaning products and an old credit card will do as a scraper! If you're worried about things boiling over my gran had a glass thing you put in the pan and it rattles when it boils.
I miss my old one so much, the gas one requires constant dismantling and scooping out of mucky bits or it looks awful (so yes, it looks awful most of the time).
Get a life, get a ceramic hob!

Always used gas before but moved to house with no gas. We got the cheapest ceramic cooker we could find to fit our gap and now that I am used to it I find it brilliant to cook on and to clean. All I use is a normal kitchen cleaner and a sponge then buff it up with a clean t-towel.

Go for it...but it did take a while to get use to it!!

It's in!! And installed and I LOVE IT!

It heats up so quickly - you lot made me expect it to take ages, and wipes clean starightaway.
