Ahhh just read that you have the tiles I once had. They were a bloody nightmare to clean and u dint think I ever truly got them as clean as I'd have liked. I would never have then again. Sorry op I don't know what to suggest. I was also always worried I'd scratch them although I never did

I agree with the advice to run down with baby oil or similar to dilute the sticky grease and then use washing up liquid to remove the diluted grease

MessezFaire · 27/10/2016 23:07

It's like trying to wash off leg wax - much easier after a bit of baby oil!

Gileswithachainsaw · 27/10/2016 23:08

Am I going to get strange looks as I plonk design greaser baby oil and gloves onto the checkout...

Well the bad news is Wilkos did in fact let me down.

The good news is I found some oven cleaner in the cupboard. In testing on one tile I have discovered it is at last month sticky.

However when I wiped dry with kitchen roll it turned it green. Is that likely the dye from the scouring pad or is said oven cleaners in fact dissolving the tile? Blush

Dye from scouring pad.

Deffo.

Gileswithachainsaw · 29/10/2016 11:17

Well the oven cleaner worked!!!

But I used a different scourer amd the water was still tinged with green so I may well he spraying all the tiles now so they "match" GrinBlush

The cooker hood however...well I'm gonna wait fit the cilit bang to arrive on Sunday evening to do that. If it dissolves tiles I'm not ruining the cupboard Grin
