Where to get lovely good quality bedding?

DH and I have recently moved to our "forever home".

We are curating our bedding today. We have a number of sheets and duvet covers between 4-12 years old, some of which were cheap and haven't lasted very well (we moved in together as broke students) and some of which we never liked much in the first place but were given as gifts etc.

Anyway, less is more, quality over quantity etc.

Those of you who have lovely good quality non-wrinkling heavy smooth bedsheets and duvet covers, where do you get them? And how much do they cost?

And the same for big fat feathery pillows that are mostly firm but dent nicely when you flump your head back into them.

I get all my sheets from Asda - their Extra Special Egyptian Cotton range is really smooth, washes and tumble dries well, and lasts for ages.

I love Sheridan. I get it from House of Fraser when they have sales on. I have 3 sets. One is almost 10 years old and was used exclusively for about 2 years and still looks immaculate.

Soak and Sleep! Their bedding is excellent. I agree with Dexter that their pillows are amazing. We've all got the feather and down ones. So plump, squishy but supportive all at the same time. We've also just got feather and down toppers too. Second night of sleeping on them last night. Just so comfy!

I second Asda sheets. I will sometimes splash out on lovely duvet sets but I'll still use Asda fitted sheets, they do lots of colours & they last ages.

Asda fitted sheets are good, wash fine and last well. Like their duvet covers as well.
Argos duvet sets are a good buy as well. Especially if you get them in the sale or when they have online money off codes (they honour the codes in store as well, just quote it at the till)

White company mostly but love Cabbages and Roses for John Lewis at the moment.

Habitat do lovely bedding and sometimes have good sales. It's not cheap but washes beautifully, is nice and heavy and doesn't go bobbly.

Go for the best quality 100% cotton you can afford. Another vote for Soak and Sleep, discount with Quidco. I love the 600 count pillow cases, 200 count fitted sheets and the feather pillows and mattress protectors. Our duvets come from Silverhills, great quality and clever construction. For duvet covers Laura Ashley's last for years.

king of cotton, we have lots from them and it is reaaly good value for money or if you have lots to spend frette

Used to be white company but switched to King of Cotton and it seems to be wearing much better. Fewer designs though.

Yes I agree with "minipie" I prefer the quality of King of Cotton - The New York bedding is the best!

I agree - TK Maxx is great. Sadly, I don't get there very often, and you have to be a bit selective. Mind you - maybe its because I only buy white - much easier to mix and match with stuff you already have that way :)

Ohh, some excellent responses, thank you! DH and I have selected some pillows from soak and sleep to try - we need to replace guest ones as well as our own so we've picked a couple of different ones to see if we find the right ones for each of us.

I bought my last lot of bedding from TK Maxx but I can't get out to go shopping easily so I've done my buying online, and the ones I bought were too thin and they wrinkle easily. I think as our bed is a super king it's harder to find a good selection of reasonably priced good quality sets.

We did find a set of Frette bedsheets in the clear out - flat and fitted and pillowcases, still in the packaging - that we'd been given as a wedding gift, but it won't fit our super king so it's going on the guest bed for when the in laws come to town next weekend! I had no idea how expensive they were until I googled them to search for the dimensions of the pack we got!

Any high count or Egyptian cotton. I think the White Company might have a nice selection. But yes, the lovely sheets need ironing. I also seem to think that we've bought something decent from John Lewis too.

veryhungry - I got loads of Frette stuff from TK Maxx recently - it was advertised (very briefly) on the internet as well as in store, so it is worth looking out on the computer as well. It's lovely isn't it? The cotton is all silky and smooth.

Soak and Sleep, and I really like Dorma for duvet covers...pricy, but they last. My first Dorma set is now 30 years old, and still going strong, and is all lovely and soft.
