October Fledgling thread 2016: where we fluff up our feathers and fall back in to autumnal Flying routines

Welcome to the October 2016 Fledgling Flying thread!

Come and park your broomsticks mops and buckets here!

This is where, from the 1st of the month, we attempt to declutter and follow the 30-step wisdom of Flylady (minus cutesy language and a surfeit of e-mails) with lots of chat and support and mutual motivation (and Wine of course) along the way.

More info available here , here, here and here.

As usual we will be following a three-pronged approach - and don't worry - we are all at different stages. (Some of us are still stuck at the decluttering stage after quite a few years Blush):

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)

  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

And those of you who have decluttered and are really enthusiastic can throw some detailed cleaning in to the mix as well!

The idea is that we focus on short, ring-fenced, daily bursts of activity (steps and routines) that will help our homes run (more or less!) on "automatic pilot" allowing us to do far more interesting things instead!

This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees not only welcome to join in but positively encouraged to do so!

Helpful pointers: No perfectionism allowed! If it took a while to create the current C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) in your home, then it will probably take a while to reverse the situation (you can't clean clutter!). Small steps are the key! And you are never behind: just jump in where you are at!

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Good luck!

Sorry you are suffering still Flowers Wrt rage and sadness, I can definitely say that I am much quicker to anger nowadays; even the smallest of things can set me off. (In fact, my hairdresser and I - we are both the same age - were discussing this very thing the other week). I get more het up/nervous about things than I ever did before too. Might be worth chatting to your gp if sadness really getting you down though and getting in way of everyday life/activities x

I haven't decided what I want to get done today yet. Need to do my normal bits and bobs and laundry etc. My porch is already decluttered (it is tiny !) Apart from a bag of clothes and a bag of toys to go to the charity shop but my mum is going to take those for me on Friday. I can take the clothes later today. I have lots of parcels to collect from various shops but dh text me this morning to say he has two parcels arriving today so sods law if I go out to pick up my parcels his will be missed and I'll have to pick those up later in the week!! Ah the exciting life I lead Grin

So looks like a day at home for me today. I think I will attempt a few of the home bleugh stuff :

Mop floors kitchen bathroom utility room.
Dust all surfaces

That'll do for now!

Ds is asleep on me again he seems to hate his bouncy chair Confused so I'll try putting him down in a few minutes then do one chore and have a coffee.

Happy Halloween everyone!

Not going to be getting much done today. Poor little Smokey Joe went up to the big road and got himself knocked down in the fog. Stupid cat. Now I've got to tell the boys and work out what to do by way of getting him back from the vet where someone very kindly took him. He was such a lovely boy, so friendly and playful. The boys are going to be devastated.

Put sofa cover in wash where ds was sick on it...

Oh no Blue I'm really sorry :(

I've only just got back, we were at a friend's for a learning group thing. Got to do some more laundry, cook Halloween shaped pasta (thank you Lidl) in a blood tomato sauce, then make a Halloween dessert while photographing it all for my blog :o then we will snuggle in bed with Hotel Transylvania 2 on the laptop and ignore trick or treaters (normally we join in but the clown thing ugh)

Still feeling awful about Halloween here too Sad. We cancelled our party on Sat because of dd being ill. And this afternoon she is having to turn down lots of last minute invitations from friends as she is much better but not better enough to be up late/out in cold ifyswim. I feel such a killjoy but we are travelling this week and she needs to be totally fit. Nothing worse for a teen than feeling they are missing out on what the group is doing though.

Could you put a simple note on the door saying "sorry, owing to illness, no callers this year please"?
