In the house I generally switch it on once a day after dinner in the evening. There are always a few bits left over, mainly pots and baking trays amongst other bits of crockery which I can't squeeze in. So I usually come down to a sink of dirty dishes in the morning Angry

Just wondering what you do (only want to hear from people not like me! Grin)

Mine goes on when it's full so that can be either once or twice a day and at very random times , I do random bits of washing up as well .

SuperheroesForKids · 09/08/2016 17:03

After breakfast as we usually have a couple of cups and small plates from the evening before.

Then after dinner in the evening.

But there's five of us so I'm forever in the bloody kitchen

mrsclooneytoyou · 09/08/2016 17:03

Every morning before work. I do the crockpot and trays by hand after use

YesThisIsMe · 09/08/2016 17:04

Once a day after dinner but I rarely have things left over that won't fit - apart from the non-stick frying pan that I don't trust the washing machine with, but only takes a quick wipe down anyway. But we're all four out of the house for lunch and only the DC eat breakfast, so that's only 6 place settings plus mugs and saucepans. I can see that if you were a SAHM with a few DC home for lunch then that would make a difference.

When it's full which is usually after dinner but sometimes next morning. Usually once a day but something like a roast it'll be twice - plates etc first, greasy pans second after a soak. Veg pan/steamer goes in dishwasher if there's room but otherwise hand wash.

Artandco · 09/08/2016 17:05

After breakfast and after dinner.

We usually all sit down the breakfast and have a Cooked meal, plus fruits/ yogurt, drinks etc so it's fairly full.

ShatnersBassoon · 09/08/2016 17:07

It only goes on when it's full, which is usually every day at bedtime. I put oven trays etc in there. I can't be faffed with washing anything by hand.

DramaAlpaca · 09/08/2016 17:10

It goes on when it's full.

At the moment all five of us are at home, so it's on twice a day. More if someone's decided to have a cooking session.

If just two or three of us are around, it would usually go on in the evening after dinner.

There's always something that gets missed, though. I love it when the worktops are clear, but it's a rare thing.

prokupatuskrakedatus · 09/08/2016 17:35

We are four and the dishwasher goes on about 2 or 3 times a week and only when it's full.
We've got enough cups and plates etc. to last.

dementedpixie · 09/08/2016 17:42

Goes on when it's full which is normally after dinner. I wash trays, frying pans, etc by hand.

dementedpixie · 09/08/2016 17:43

Sometimes will go on twice a day too

trinity0097 · 09/08/2016 17:45

After every meal normally, just the two of us, but I have to eat low carb, so it's often twice the amount of pots and pans. I prefer to get it on and away than come down to the few dishes that didn't fit in! I only do a 29min eco wash.

misscph1973 · 09/08/2016 17:45

We are a family of four, and we both work from home, so it's on twice a day, after lunch and after dinner. I have lots of sharp knives and cast iron pans that I wash by hand as well.

Fishcake72 · 09/08/2016 17:46

Randomly but every day without fail. There are always bits I wash myself too.

Sgtmajormummy · 09/08/2016 18:01

Ours takes more than a day to fill (4 people but only 2 for lunch) so it could go on at any time. I try to avoid having it on while we're eating though.
If it needs to go on I can always find stuff like coffee machine parts or cooker hood filter that would benefit from a wash. I do the 30 minute eco wash and scrape my plates thoroughly, knowing they may be in there for 24 hours plus.
Frying pans and cooking knives washed by hand.

Fairylea · 09/08/2016 18:03

We fill it up as the day goes on and put it on when it's full so at the moment it's twice or even three times a day. I always empty it just before I head up to bed so I come down to a fresh start in the morning!

KeyserSophie · 11/08/2016 02:20

I've been known to reorganise the entire dishwasher to avoid washing up anything by hand, so once a day in the week, and maybe twice at weekends.

BlueCowWonders · 11/08/2016 03:32

We have 2 slimline dishwashers. As soon as they're full they get switched on. We cook a lot and 5 people so pretty much continouous! Almost nothing by hand.

LippyLiz · 11/08/2016 05:29

Usually before bedtime every night as its full

Anonymouses · 11/08/2016 05:31

When it gets full.

Cockblocktopus · 11/08/2016 05:35

Every night if it gets full during the day it goes on again.

TheDowagerCuntess · 11/08/2016 05:42

Every evening, before I go to bed.

DH loads it straight after dinner and washes up the random bits. I wait until bedtime before turning it on.

Coming in to dirty dishes in the morning would depress me - not a good way to start the day!

IDismyname · 11/08/2016 07:05

3 of us here, but only one for lunch. Dishwasher usually goes on after I have tried to cram everything I possibly can into it, after supper.

I used to be a space planner in a former life, so just LOVE fitting in an extra glass and mug into what looks like a full dishwasher. I then wash up the baking trays etc. or get someone else to do it

pearlylum · 11/08/2016 07:19

Twice a day usually. We are 4 at home for lunch and 5 for dinner, I do a lot of cooking from scratch, so use a lot of utensils, marinade bowls, sieves, blenders, chopping boards, draining plated etc.
