Fledglings flutter vaguely into August - summer mode continues

Ok, so stealing Einstein's OP from last month, summer mode hereby continues.

This means:

  1. You are still welcome to join and post
  2. If you want there to be links and no one has posted them, feel free to post them.
  3. As technical thread leader I shall be hanging out in the naughty corner bar when I am around, and there'll be other people in and out too, I'm sure.
  4. We'll still answer questions for anyone wanting information on the fly lady system and support each other. It's just a little more relaxed.

And with that, bring on August and yet more crazy pants school holiday stuff...

Hi everyone. I'm impressed with everyone's ta-das. Not much zero flying here. Another beautiful day, so spent it in a friend's garden chatting and kids playing. Lovely!

Hello all! All of your lists are amazing!! and put me to shame

Still recovering from bad back\ virus here but generally feeling on the mend.

House is a true pit! DD had two friends over for the day yesterday and, being teens, they truly didn't notice ( they certainly didn't give any impression of doing so) or they have been very well brought up and were too polite to say anything Grin. Anyway, I supplied wherewithal for them to make Knickerbocker glories but DD and I found it hard to explain why they are called thatGrin (V odd concept for French speakers!)

Operation laundry today (holiday clothes) plus cake making ( for DD to take to visit friends)

Big waves to one and all!

PS zoo hope you have a good trip away! (And back recovers in time)

Oh and I love a good wine gum or three Grin

:o at the Knickerbocker confusion!

Although I don't see how French speakers can complain really - I'm sure we learned at school that the French for 'window shopping' basically translates as 'licking the windows'...

Done absolutely sod all again. DH is off the next two days thankfully so we can try and tackle the living room, it's got really really awful again :( at least the stairs and landing aren't quite so bad as they usually would be by this point.

I haven't left the house in a week :( other than sitting outside while the DCs did long jump (DD is very proud, she jumped 2 metres). I am feeling spectacularly sorry for myself frankly! Need a kick up the arse!

Grin SC In case you ever need to explain such follies in French again

I have done no flying at all for the last couple of days. Yesterday was all errands, broken up with going to the park, out for lunch and suchlike to keep the boys from total boredom. Today we have been out to the forest park all day (where DS2 did his ear a serious mischief in the den building area), and tomorrow we're going to the beach. :)

We managed some tidying up today. Living room is now errrr where it was about a month ago. Still messy in other words! Just not as bad.

DCs loved a Shakespeare activity I made for them, and we did a bit of maths using the Smarties I bought for the craft project (making Giant's Causeway).

Also went out for dinner with my friends. Just dinner and a lot of chatting! Achy as hell again but heyho.

Hello, I have fallen off the thread due to house moving. But I am back and with a vengeance.
I'll have to rejiggle the zones because now my hallway, living and kitchen are one big room. Anybody with a similar layout that might suggest how to approach this?

On the plus side, everything is brand new and clean so not that much of a problem :)

Hey 8 :)

I'm feeling a bit better today thankfully. Going to do some washing, then DH is ironing tonight. DD is being picked up to go for a playdate, so want to get her to do some tidying before she goes... some chance!

Thanks SC hope you have a good trip. :)

No tidying today, just a bit of laundry. Oh and I have phoned up for my chair/stool thing to be collected (it was a long term loan from the health bit of social services) - it's not really helping me, as if I sit on it I have to lift my arms higher and that's where a lot of my pain usually is. Kitchen is tiny too, especially now we have the tumble dryer (which arguably improves my life far more than the chair ever did, as I no longer have to hang out heavy wet clothes!) so it's just not worth hanging on to.

Cagliostro · 18/08/2016 18:25

Also, where is Einstein? Was she going away? Hope all ok anyway.

Cag, hiGrin!
Talking about hanging washing, I bought a new washing machine. 1600 spinny something, but that was just a happy accident, I wanted a silent one. OMG, 1600 spins my clothes nearly dry!!! Love it. I have a heated airer, everything is dry by the morning. But I do have a dehumidifier too.

I bought an Oxo squeegie for the bathroom, it's wonderful, so after every shower I wipe the lot, it leaved it nearly dry.
I also got some wipes for a quick swipe of the sink and toilet before bed.
Been shining the kitchen sink every night. Quick hoover (middles) every day. Same with dusting. I need a feather duster though for the shutters.

Morning.

Am i the only one not on holiday right now then? Envy

Rubbish day here. The sort of day when you think 'is that our summer over and done with?'. I didn't get on here yesterday but i blitzed the bathrooms yesterday as well as the usual daily bits.

Caglio Love the notion of mathmatics with smarties Grin

Sorry, I've been quiet for a few weeks now!

Took 3 small bags of clothes to a local cash for clothes place - didn't get much but it's a novelty to be paid for throwing stuff away Grin Also put one other half-full bag of stuff outside in a charity bag. Normally I would huff and puff about the charity not getting much money but now I'm thinking let's just get it taken away freeeeeeee!

Trying to keep the front room a bit neater after it got completely out of control after we returned from holiday and the lovely weather has really helped with catching up with the laundry.

Feel a bit better for DD having a few days out at a event last week, and she has been going for a cycle ride with DH in the evenings so I get a bit of tidying time then. I am trying to get more sleep to help with my grumpy moods so it's going better this week.

DH is off next week - he wanted to visit some rellies for a few days but I wasn't keen on spending a few days in a hotel. While it is nice to see everyone, I'd also like him to have a week off at home when we don't have to stay away from it!

Report
Cagliostro · 20/08/2016 01:04

We did fractions with the Smarties :o stuff like 'what fraction are green' etc :o

And today we made plaster of Paris and surprisingly it actually worked in the Smarties packets.

Also today we saved a bat! It had fallen and couldn't fly. Kept it warm/hydrated for a bit, then it flew off (but not before flapping madly round the living room!). :)

Going to mum's for a couple of days to celebrate DS' birthday a bit early. Haven't even packed or anything! When we come back on Monday dad is going to take stuff to the tip/charity shop for us. Hurrah!
