Anyone got a handheld Dyson?

Specifically the animal one?

Reviews are good but some mentioned poor battery life?

I want it to cope with crumbs and cat fur! Will it cope?

Update - I LOVE it!! It's so useful especially for sofas after cat has left his fur everywhere!

After googling it became apparent that it is exactly the same as the DC 59 apart from the pole. If you ask Dyson they'll skirt round the issue but I ordered the pole from Amazon for £24 and yep, works a treat!! So it's a cheap way of upgrading if anyone is put off by the price.

I swear I'm not stalking you around dyson threads Dame Grin But I've been thinking about one of these for a while. How heavy is it please? I'm wanting something very light.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 05/06/2016 20:47

Hello againGrin

Light, really light. I have issues with tennis elbows and I have no problems using it.

Empty the canister after every use or it gets compacted and you have to hook it out.

I've got the DC59 Animal, the battery is fine for my slovenly needs. I originally got it for upstairs but use it all over the house now.

EnidButton · 05/06/2016 20:55

Oh that's brilliant thank you. That's persuaded me I think although it'll have to wait until next month. The stairs and the man hair en suite floor are a pain to clean with my Miele vacuum.

EnidButton · 05/06/2016 20:58

Haha, that reads like a shit stealth boast. Like Hyacinth Bucket , "just going in to vacuum the en suite with my Miele, Elizabeth." Blush

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 05/06/2016 21:07

Yep, have a Miele but can I haven't used it since I got the Dyson. It's sooooo easy just to whip out and have a quick hoover round and very satisfying seeing all the crap it picks up! 20 mins is fine as I don't tend to hover the entire house all in one go. I love it for getting at all the cobwebs in the conservatory!

sadly i'm not a fan of the dyson, hubby has it in the garage and it's not allowed in the house. I tried to loose the battery cable during our move but hubby was onto me :(.
miele fan 100%

EnidButton · 05/06/2016 21:29

out2 Miele don't do a handheld light vacuum though which is what I'm after. It's a good vacuum but I find it heavy for some jobs. (I'm not well though)

AyeAmarok · 05/06/2016 22:00

Oh I am so placemarking!

I have wanted one of these for ages.

WellErrr · 05/06/2016 22:17

Dame the whole canister comes off and you can clean all the high up bits.

Took me a while to work out....! Grin

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 05/06/2016 22:58

I'm trying to avoid rooting around in there by emptying it after every use Wink

I haven't worked out how to remove the filter yet though!
