no friday mission!?

Doesn't seem to be a Friday Mission...unless I've done something wrong?

Well my main mission today are the wardrobes...I've been putting them off all week.

Morning to you all hope you have a good day

Morning all.

Terrible night. Dd2 was up 7pm until 11pm and then 2 am until 5.30am. Now, of course she wants to do nothing but sleep...aaaargh.

General tidy up for me and final putting away of new toys

Have a good day all.

Today I will try and sort as much as possible after doing very little for a week.
Probably not back properly until kids go back to school.

1st load of washing done
Nothing else yet

glitterfairyonachristmastree · 29/12/2006 09:32

Hi everyone am staying with beetroot who is so tidy these days it is scary! Yesterday did so much am now exhasuted and looking forward to a rest from any housework whilst my hoover is in being serviced and prepared for a New Year! My storage arrived yesterday from the holding company and so spent much of the day sorting the cupboard under the stairs and started on my bedroom.

asleep · 29/12/2006 09:35

beetroot, we went to tesco at 7.30. they had everything (milk, bread...), carpark was empty and there were maybe 10 people inside! DP loved it as he hates shopping when it's busy.

9BeetrootsDancing · 29/12/2006 09:42

i do have three rooms which are ful to bursting with stuff that needs soting - there very wn hot spots. i like the idea of 15 min stints to finally sort these. I will start after new year.

glitterfairyonachristmastree · 29/12/2006 09:45

Anything is possible with 15 minute stints beets.I have always sorted my office and desk at work by 30 minute stints but 15 seems much more attractive!

DimpledThighs · 29/12/2006 10:33

so if you do a 15 minute stint do you just set a timier do 15 minutes and then do more later or have a quick rest and start again?

The timer thing sounds really appealing but am unsure how to work it.

asleep · 29/12/2006 10:39

i set a timer for 15 minutes. go around the room clockwise and when timer goes off either move on to a different room to do 15 minutes or have a rest.

grouchyoscar · 29/12/2006 11:29

Hello

As i new MNer I don't get the '...Fly' thing. Can you explain it to me please.

Thanks

BTW I'm sat in my PJs and dressing gown eating biscuits. I put the ironing away this morning, emptied the dishwaher and tidied the kitchen before tea and biscuits if that helps

satinshoes · 29/12/2006 11:31

Ok.

D/W on.
W/M on.
Bathroom swished & swiped.
Dry clothes in basket ready to go upstairs.
Kitchen cleared & clean.
DD bedroom dusted (could write name in it before

DD1 in front of tv and DD2 asleep.

Still need to:
change beds (parents coming tomorrow)
hoover upstairs
pick up a million toys

satinshoes · 29/12/2006 11:34

welcome grouchy.

Fly idea is that you tackle housework in bitesize chunks so you can see what you are achieving and still have a life.

here is the main website

Also look at babysteps and flying lessons which explain about the house being split into zones, daily tasks etc

ludaloo · 29/12/2006 12:23

Well my mission of wardrobes has bee temporarily postponed...I have a strange smell in the kitchen and can't seem to get rid of it.
I have completely washed the bin inside and out and changed the bin bag...smell still there...
I've cleaned the fridge and wiped all the cupboards out....smell still there...
I have just finished taking everything out from under the sink..wiping round and putting things back again.....
I can still smell it
Don't know what else to do...

OP posts:
asleep · 29/12/2006 12:25

to do:

  • put washing away
  • hang up wet laundry
  • find something for DD to do as she's BOOOOOORED!
Lazylou · 29/12/2006 12:27

Afternoon ladies!

Well, this morning I have spent it in bed having a raging sore throat, ear ache and general cold. Feeling utterly miserable, until I got up and went into my kitchen and saw my sink looking beautiful and the living room looking retty good!

DH has even done some washing up this morning before he went to work! hurrah!!!

The plan for today is the bathroom, the hotspots in the living room and general hoovering and dusting.

Does that sound ok or is there something else I should be doing with my day?

Oh and welcome GrouchyOscar! I only joined here yesterday but everyone is fab and will soon have you pointed in the right direction! Have a good day all!!

asleep · 29/12/2006 12:28

oh and hello grouchy

ludaloo · 29/12/2006 12:29

my dd1 is currently cutting christmas cards up and sticking them on paper...has kept her occupied for ages now

OP posts:
ludaloo · 29/12/2006 12:31

Hi Grouchy

Your day sounds good lazylou! I hope you are feeling better soon though...don't overdo it

OP posts:
ludaloo · 29/12/2006 12:38

Gah!!!!! I'm off to shake and vac

........I wonder if someone has spilled something and not cleaned it up????? Not a very clever move having carpet in the kitchen.....

OP posts:
Lazylou · 29/12/2006 12:44

Thanks Ludaloo! We found in our last place that carpet in the kitchen was a nightmare so were really pleased to find laminate flooring in the kitchen when we moved into our new place.

The flooring isn't all that, having been abused by the last family that lived here but it is soooooo much easier to clean up (obviously when DH comes home as washing the floor is his job )

ludaloo · 29/12/2006 14:35

Well have no idea where the smell is comming from...or what it is...or how to get rid of it! The shake and vac has masked the smell a bit....

Well off to go light the fire....I was out feeding my friends cat and missed the postman with my NEXT delivery....miffed now as I have to wait until tommorrow to pick it up and it has gone to the post office in the next village(we do actually have one in our village but god only knows why it didn't go there!)....Its times like this when I wish I didn't live where I do and that my car was fixed.....(and that I din't have a smelly kitchen

dreamteamgirl · 29/12/2006 14:36

Dear Friends:

Today, let's have a quick vacuuming session. This means to vacuum the
room in the center getting as close to baseboards and furniture as
you can (without actually moving the furniture out of the way). This
is not a detailed vacuum, just a quick one. Don't obsess, this will
take less than 10 minutes. Have fun and don't get sidetracked!

Kelly

Hence why I am looking at new vaccum claners cos the mere thought of getting my old one out depresses me

ludaloo · 29/12/2006 14:39

oh hi dreamteamgirl thanks....
I have already done this so thats good!
